Sitting Demurely in the apartment complex common room of Ever and Zac's apartment complex, Leora slipped her little cell phone with its white case out and punched in a quick text to James. People were voting on the first Lynching of the night.
" Mob mentality is kind of scary. "

James was at a late night coffee shop, Just Add Coffee--which his Captain had recommended--, because it's hours stretched into the wee-hours of the night even breaching 2 am. Those hours were perfect for the grad student about to get Master's in English. Between teaching, school and other activities James only had the opportunity to do homework and study at odd hours of the day.
So there he was, set up on a table with his laptop before him, the book he was writing a thesis on, latte perched on the corner of the table and his phone on the right when he got her text. It took him by surprise, because he was deep into his reading, when it buzzed unceremoniously on the table followed by his Twilight Princess text tone.
He stuck his bookmark in between the pages and pulled his black-rimmed reading glasses off while he picked up his phone with his free hand. He unlocked his phone to find a message from Leora and before he realized it, a big goofy grin was spreading across his lips.
He chuckled, reminded that she was at that Negaverse meet and greet thing, and got set on typing up a response.
No one wants to admit it, but everyone gets caught up in the rush of getting to eliminate someone. Still in the game? Having fun? Miss you.

Leora currently had her head down for the second "night" of the event when her phone vibrated with an incoming txt message. and she slipped it out of her pocket blindly, eyes still closed, until it was time to open them, and she had a quick moment before the lynching began again.
Opening the message from James, scanning it with a grin. She could feel her cheeks blushing a faint shade of pink. And the funny thing was that the usually composed girl didn't even really mind if someone saw her grinning dreamily at her little cell-phone-charm laden cell phone like a dork.
For the thousandth time she was grateful she was a fast txter, punching in the keys before the next round of voting started.
" For now. Its just the first round. Yeah, its interesting so far, would be more fun if you were here. Miss you to <3 Busy with homework? "

James was fortunate to be tucked away in a corner where no one was paying attention to him and that the other patrons were nothing more than fellow college students too preoccupied with their own studies--or not studying--so no one noticed the flush of his cheeks or how his grin widened. He could feel the butterflies fluttering in his stomach, which surprised him considering that their relationship wasn't anything new.
I know, he began to type, long fingers gliding across the touch screen letters, but grad school's got me so busy. I've got a ton of research to do for my thesis if I want to remain on track for graduation. He really wanted to graduate and take up the mantle of full-time teaching at Meadowview. We should do breakfast or lunch tomorrow though (:
He really liked spending what free time he had with her.

I plan on it, don't worry. I'm at a coffee shop that's open late so I plan on sticking around until I'm done. If you want, and you're done with your game I can walk you home?

There was a bit of time between his text and her next incoming message.
" Sounds like a date. I am jealous of your access to coffee... Though not jealous of your homework "

There were longer time lapses between receiving her texts and his responses because, as he promised he was dutifully working on his graduation thesis. Still, he was fairly prompt with replies. After all, it was Leora texting him.
Excellent, you'll text me when the game is over? He sent that one then quickly followed up with a second one. Coffee here is fantastic, I'll bring you here for our next coffee date.

" I will <3 " She grinned to herself like a silly little girl as she added the heart emoticon to the text, before slipping her phone discreetly down. The last thing she wanted was to get in trouble for texting while under the eye of Ever at his own event.
And then suddenly, before she knew it, her character was dead. She took her death, gracefully. Literally, crumpling to the floor and acting out her death scene before joining the other "dead" characters from the werewolf game.
Smiling to herself, foolishly thinking that she was not being eyeballed by any other fellow agents, she slipped her phone out and punched in another text to James.
" Oh boy, I was stoned to death. How unfortunate. ): "
A few short minutes later a tall dark haired girl approached her, mentioning something about a "girls night" that apparently the young lieutenant was a part of.

This time, when he received her text, he was too preoccupied to even glance at his buzzing phone. His fingers moved across his keyboard rapidly, because he'd been struck with a sudden inspiration for his paper that he didn't dare risk interrupting. Ten minutes easily passed before he even registered that she had responded and another ten went by before he bothered to pick up his phone.
Sorry, he had typed, frowning as his green eyes swept over her words. That sounds like an awful way to go ): He shook his head. Being stoned to death sounded nearly as bad as being burned at the stake. I'm finishing up, are you going to be there a while?

It wasn't long between texts, but it had just been long enough. The game was over, and several of the other negaverse agents, as civilians of course, had dragged the tiny lieutenant off for some girly socializing at a location without the scent of cheap beer and pizza permeating its very foundation.
The place she had been taken to was a lovely little building, and while technically a bar, was a little bit more sophisticated than the apartment building off the game. Leora wasn't even really sure how she had gotten in without being carded, but it happened. And a devilishly charming young woman with long black hair grinned and slipped a delightfully fruity drink into her hands with a wink.
Leora took a small taste, and it didn't taste particularly alcoholic, so she sipped her beverage and listened to the others talk back and forth, adding to the conversation little bit by little bit, but mostly just listening, intrigued by the fact that the rest of the agents seemed to know each other very well. It made sense, but really brought to light how little she socialized with other agents of the neg averse. Aside from a happenstance meeting while patrolling, she hadn't really bothered to. And that was a shame. Because people were nice.
Leora found herself frowning at the thought. That was strange, that certainly didn't seem like something she would normally thing. She frowned at her drink and shook her head, finishing off the last sip as her phone buzzed. She pulled it out and smiled at the phone, turning herself slightly on the tall spinning stool that she was perched on, wobbling only slightly as a tall leggy waitress replaced her drink with a fresh one, whisking away the old glass, leaving no evidence that it was even there.
Leora picked up the Brightly colored fruity drink and took another sip, punching in a reply.
Oh it wasn't so bad. At least I got pizza out of it.
She turned her spinning stool back to the other agents and asked the address of the place that they were at, and then spun her back to them once again, only slightly wobbly on her precarious perch, as she typed out another text.
The game is over, we all died. So the rest of the dead girls took me to hang out for bit.
She punched in the address were she was at, it was only a few blocks for the original address she was at.
So, Feel like you aced teh paper, my cute lil brainiac?
She took another sip of her oh so innocent drink, nibbling on the strawberry that had been placed on the rim of the glass.

By the time she'd gotten back to him, he'd finished with the first three pages of his paper and shut down his laptop. He'd been in the middle of packing up his things, carefully organizing his papers and slipping them back into his bag, when his phone went off. He snatched it up off the table, grinning as he read over her words.
I'm glad you're getting along with them. He told her, reading over the address and frowning slightly. He recognized it, a bar he'd passed by frequently. Wait, are you at a bar? His brow crinkled at the idea. She shouldn't have been there, though if she wanted to drink he wasn't going to stop her. Still he had to wonder how she got in.
No, uh, I've still got some work to do on it but I'm done for tonight. He hesitated after sending that text. He wondered if he should offer to pick her up and after a minute. He did. Can I come see you now?

Her phone buzzed and she read over the text, a very girly giggle escaping her. A sound that under normal circumstances she would rather die then make. But, then again, Leora at that moment didn't really seem to notice.
She was swigging slightly back and forth on her bar-stool, as she punched the buttons on her phone with her manicured fingernails.
You know, I really am to.
They seem like a interesting bunch of ladies.
The whole superhero thing aside.
Her phone buzzed again before she could even put it back down. Asking if she was at a bar.
Why yes, yes I am. Though I'm not sure how I got in. I think they know the owner. She sipped her drink again.
Im sure youll ace it your little glassess have magical powers
At this point in time, having never had a drink outside of an occasional glass of wine at family dinners, Leora had no idea that she was completely drunk. She had never really had any interest in it, the smell and taste of alchohol was not something she really desired. So the fact that whatever was in her beverage was highly alcoholic, combined with her low tolerance and tiny frame meant Leora was far more intoxicated then she had originally thought.
Whether being intoxicated help or made worse the little thump her heart did when she read her next text, she didn't know. She could feel herself blushing a bright rosey pink and she quickly txted back an answer.
Of course you can, you never have to ask to come see me.
She couldn't think of a situation were she wouldn't want to see that boy.

Despite himself, James didn't wait for Leora to respond. No, he was out of the coffee shop doors before he couldn't even think about what he was doing. His bag was settled over his shoulders as he down the street towards the address he'd sent her. Good, I'll be there in about ten minutes.
He attributed his eagerness to go see her to the fact that it'd been a while since their last date. School had kept him away, thank god it would be over soon, never mind that teaching would take it's place.
He got to the bar within the ten minutes, slipping past the guy at the door with a quick flash of his ID. He found his tiny girlfriend quickly, tapping her on the shoulder when he did. "Leora."

" Ill see you then!!1 " She texted back, before sliding her phone back into the little hidden pocket in the voluminous layers of lace ruffles that made up her dress.
Leora's second drink now sat empty on the counter, its straw looking bright and lonely in a glass filled with icecubes and a little stem of a strawberry plunked down right on top.
She jumped a little bit when someone tapped her shoulders, with a small kick of her high heel against the ring of the swiveling bar-stool turning herself around at the sound of a familiar voice. " James!! See ladies, I told you we was a cutey! " She smiled at him, that familiar jolt of excitement she was filled with ever time she saw him filling her. " Long time no see, stranger. ' She said, sliding off of the stool to stand on her own.
It was only after she had done so that she realized she was not nearly as steady on her feet as she thought she was. Leora was the master of being able to walk, run, dance, pretty much anything in heels that one could want to do. She had been practicing sense she was old enough to wear them. But suddenly her body seemed to have forgotten how to stand, and had it not been for a quick hand she had to place on Jame's chest she might have very well wobbled right off of her heels.
