Singsong was so excited! Brilliantly exciting! At last she had saved up enough money to get what she had been eyeing for so long. The wondrous, colorful, and beautiful artist supply set. It's what every aspiring artist needed! She couldn't stop thinking of the beautiful illustrations she could make to go with all the stories she'd come up with.
It had definitely taken some weeks but she'd done it! She collected her allowance, did twice the amount of chores, and walked as many pets as possible (even rigged a skateboard just so she could take the neighbor's goldfish out) and had amassed just enough to buy it.
The little filly stared down at the pretty wooden box. In it held paint, crayons, colored pencils, pretty paper, brushes, ink, and so much more! It.was.AMAZING. And now it was hers!
Thrilled to bits the little filly kicked excitedly and cheered with glee so the whole store could hear! Quickly she bent down to pick it up but the crate was far too heavy to hold by it's strap. Hrmph....Singsong frowned and glared down at it. Well that wouldn't do...

Blushing Bride went slowly through the art store, her eyes lingering on all the colors and paints and brushes everywhere. What gorgeous supplies! What fun they would be to use! What wedding designs she could make with them!
But she had to pull herself in, and not get TOO excited. Just a few charcoal pencils, that was what she was here for. It wouldn't do to get overworked.
She hovered a set of pencils off the rack and to her with her unicorn magic, and then a sudden cheer almost made her drop the set! She turned her head, flipping her mane, and saw -- OH! What an adorable filly! But what on EARTH was she freaking out over?
In another moment, all was explained. The blue lady tried to pick up a MASSIVE crate of art supplies and was stymied. For a moment, Blush watched her, slack-jawed, amazed at her tenacity. She was going to chip a hoof at this rate!
"Oh, uhm, hello~" Blush said daintily and politely as her mother always taught her how, trotting slowly over. "That's a lovely set. Do you maybe need some help?"

"Huh?" Singsong wheezed a she looked up after giving it another go to lift the box. She turned towards the voice and flushed in embarrassment at the pretty filly watching her with a look of concern.
"Oh! Hello!" Singsong quickly straightened up and smiled cheerfully at the other babben. Goodness! Was she a model? Singsong looked her up and down just in case the other girl had graced one of her magazine covers at some point.
"Wow! I like your cutie mark!" It really was lovely. It looked like wedding bells...so...what could her talent be? A bride? Eesh, she was never good at figuring these things out.
But then Singsong realized she had been asked a question and glanced back down at the box full of her soon-to-be prized possessions. "Isn't it gorgeous? I saved up all my allowances to buy it! It has everything in it that you could dream of. And um...because of that...it's really heavy." A little pout graced her cheerful face.
"Mm? Help? Yes! Yes I could use any help you can give. But you're the same size as me. Are you like, really, really strong or something?" Her orange eyes narrowed as if that would somehow help her detect if the other one had some kind of secret ability. Because how else would she lift the box if Singsong herself couldn't?

"Singsong! What a lovely name," said Blush, taking another step up. The art supply case really WAS gorgeous, and judging by the contents of the display version, it was more than that. It was gorgeous and filled to the brim with well-organized and totally lovely art supplies! But, oof! That price tag!
As Singsong spoke, Blush looked back at the other filly, smiling broadly. "Really strong? Oh, no, not at all. But I figured maybe with you pushing and my unicorn magic, we could at least get it up to the register? If you're done shopping, that is."
Blush herself was quite finished with her two dinky little charcoal pencils. She tried not to sigh. But there was no reason to splurge on something so expensive as that set unless she had some good practice, first!
"So, are you, ah, an artist, then?" She snuck a look at the filly's flank, but it was blank.

Singsong's face grew even pinker at the compliment. What a nice filly! "W-Well thank you. That's sweet of you to say." She scuffed her hooves against the ground.
"Oh wow! That's right!" She was a unicorn! They had all kinds of magical powers. Singsong could of smacked herself at her forgetfulness. But her helpful new pal had a brilliant idea. "That sounds great! With you and me combined we can surely get this to the checkout. And then afterwards I'll treat you to a milkshake! My treat." With a sugary tooth as large as Singsong's, she made sure to set aside a few bits so after this purchase she could treat herself to something yummy. She certainly could just get something smaller to give the unicorn a nice 'thank you' gift.
Singsong quickly started to push before the wedding-bell filly could even begin using her magic. "Me? Well...oof! I like to think I am. I like to draw and write stories. One day I want to make a really famous book filled with my illustrations! I just need to figure out what it would be about." She giggled through a wheeze and inched the box a few more inches forward. "O-Oh! And um, what's your name? I need to know my helper's name!"

"How silly of me! I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Blushing Bride," said Blush with a smile, her horn sparkling as she began to use her magic to help Singsong push the crate along toward the register. She liked this one, she had moxie and direction, even if she didn't have a cutie mark yet. "You can call me Blush, though."
As they made their way up to the register, the mare behind the counter looked more than a little confused. With a few 'oofs' of effort, Singsong and Blush together managed to get the big art crate up onto the counter beside her, doing their best not to ding it even a little bit as they moved it. Blush could feel herself starting to swea--- no, glow at the effort. She needed to train her magic better!
"An artist for storybooks! That sounds like so much fun. I'd love to read it when you're done, if you want. Me, I'm not an artist so much. I just do little designs for wedding parties and other soirees. I have to have something to give to people -- I mean, I guess eventually. Whenever I have my event planning business, like I want."

"Heh, that's a really pretty name too, Blush! I like it." Singsong's eyes grew large in awe of Blushing Bride's magic. It truly was wondrous! And boy, it definitely helped them move the box to check out.
When they arrived Singsong puffed and sat down for a brief moment to catch her breath. "We made it." She quietly cheered from her spot on the floor. The little filly suddenly could see why some phonies liked lifting weights. It made tasks like this much easier. Thank goodness she had a buddy there to lend a hoof.
Her eyes definitely sparkled at the thought of someone else reading her work. She always shared her stories with family but to have someone not apart of that want to check out what she made? It was a lovely new feeling for Singsong. "Of course! I've made a few already if you'd like to read those. You could come over and pick out whichever one you want."
The little lass's ears perked at Blushing Bride's dream statement. It was so glamorous! "Wow! So you would be making everyone's wedding day really special? That's wonderful! You'd be making all those couples so happy." Just like her parents on their wedding day! Daddy and Papa still liked to reminisce about that day and every time they'd break out in laughter and big grins. It must of been really special for them.
As they spoke Singsong started to rummage through her side bag where she kept a little sketchbook, some pencils, and her bit purse. She pulled the polka-dotted bundle out and placed it on the counter. "I'd like to buy this, please! All the money is in there."

Blush's eyes lit up as her new friend mentioned her fathers' wedding and how they remembered it. "Yes! That is just what I want -- I want days where people can think of them with perfect happiness for their whole lives! Wouldn't it just be a wonderful thing, helping people that way?"
As the two fillies continued to gush at each other, the mare behind the counter, Bean Counter, began to sift around in Singsong's bag. She'd heard plenty of little fillies talk about how glorious they were, the art she wanted to make, and on, and on.
"And I would be honored to read your books! I am certain they are beautiful, wonderful reads."
"Excuse me," said Bean Counter.
"Yes?" Blush looked up.
"You're short four bits, from tax."

"I think it will be lovely! A great way to make other phonies so very happy. You'll do an amazing job. I just know it!"
"Heh, I hope they'll be nice. I want to make lots and lots of phonies smile with my books!"
Singsong's head whipped around when she heard Bean Counter and the little filly just stared in shock at the mare. "W-What? But that should be the exact amount. I checked! And rechecked! C-Could you please count it again?" She begged but when Bean Counter came up with the same amount Singsong was nearly driven to tears. How could this be? She had the right amount when she left home! What happened?
Singsong quickly opened up her satchel and looked tore through the back to see if maybe the bits had fallen out but there was nothing at the bottom of her bag. She didn't have the money....which meant she couldn't have her book.
"I-I don't have enough money." It's not like she could lie about this and hurry off with the art set. That wasn't right. She just had to be honest and leave. Maybe another time she could purchase it? If it wasn't sold out...

Bean Counter reared her head slightly, an eyebrow raising. Count it again? She was going to be an accountant. She never needed to count things again. But this blubbering little filly was going to insist upon it, so Bean did so. Slowly. And showed her work, like she had as a filly.
She wasn't wrong.
Of course.
Blush's ears lowered and her eyes widened at the verdict. How could poor Singsong be short!? It didn't seem fair!
She eyed her own art supplies in suspect. Did she NEED these? Certainly she didn't need them right this moment. She had plenty of pencils she could muck around with, couldn't she? Blush wasn't waiting to create a lovingly-crafted masterpiece to give to foals everywhere! And even if she was, Singsong just looked so heartbroken...
"Excuse me," Blush said, floating her little packet up toward Bean Counter. "I, uhm... don't want these anymore. Can you please have someone put them back?"
Bean flipped her mane, taking the supplies from Blush. "Alright, sure."
"And, uhm... here's four bits." She said it directly to Bean, and floated the money up, so that Singsong wouldn't have a chance to refuse.

Singsong blinked away her tears as she watched with shock and alarm as her newfound friend gave up her art supplies in exchange of hers. "Blushing Bride! You don't have to do that." But it was already too late for Singsong to reach up and snatch the bits away. Blush was just too quick!
Singsong sniffled and stared at her friend not sure if she should smile or sob. "Thank you, Blush. Y-You're too sweet. But are you sure? You came all this way to get those!"

Bean Counter tried her hardest not to roll her eyes as she calculated the end amount, ripped off the receipt, and floated it down to the teary-eyed filly. With a hefty shove, she put the art supplies on a cart for the two girls to wheel out (hopefully to their stronger parents). Because that would have been the logical choice.
"Oh, stop it," said Blush, tossing her mane with a smile. "It's nothing! You told me all about that book and I don't want to wait another moment I don't have to to read it."
She began to wheel out the cart, her horn glowing softly as she did so. "And, anyway, I got something a whole lot better than just some new pencils." She leaned slightly over and nudged Singsong with her hip.

"Have a good day, Bean Counter!" Singsong called to the mare as she started to wheel out the large cart with her precious box of art supplies sitting happily in the center.
"Still! You gave up not only your art supplies but four bits! That was really generous of you." Singsong stopped the cart pushing and flung herself to hug Blush tightly. "Thank's so much! I'll make a great book and dedicate it to you!"
She'd get started on it as soon as she got home! "Aw, Blush!" Singsong cooed and bumped their flanks together. "You're such an amazing friend. I'm so glad I met you today! You've made a world of a difference for me!"

"I'm really glad," said Blush, smiling brightly. They walked out of the store and Blush could see her mother waiting for her not far beyond, watching with a placid smile on her face. She was excited to relate what'd happened to her. "I live at the Delta's Delight's yarn shop... will you call me sometime or come over? I'd love to draw together or see your book!"

"Me too, Blush! Me too." Singsong returned her smile with a big one of her own." She was absolutely thrilled to have a new friend, especially one with such a golden heart like Blushing Bride. What a great day this had turn into! She made a new pal AND managed to get her cherished art supplies all thanks to the pretty unicorn.
Singsong quickly nodded at the invitation. How exciting! She'd never gone over to someone else's house before! "I'd love to come over! That would be so much fun. I really want to see all your wedding books. Oh! Oh! We could make a book about weddings!" Singsong squealed with glee at all the possibilities such a book could hold. What a great deal of fun! "I'll come over real soon, Blush! I'm gonna go tell my dads and we can figure out the earliest time to get together!"
She quickly hopped up to give Blush another tight hug, "Thanks again for your help. This is all thanks to you!" And with one last tight squeeze Singsong was off tugging her cart down the road to where her dad's were sitting waiting for all the kids to come out of their favorite stores.
For the rest of the day Singsong created all kinds of artwork and stories, but her very favorite was a quick book that told of the fun time today she had with her new great friend.
