 Fresh off of her meeting with Candy Dandy, Blushing Bride felt her mind swimming with ideas and inspiration. The world had so much she could use! So much to draw from! A wedding didn't just have to be white and silver, it could be colorful! Inspiration could be drawn from anything, from the beach to animals to vintage candy stores.
The thought of designing weddings and parties made Blush, well... blush with excitement and joy.
Cakes! Dresses! Centerpieces!
Oh... centerpieces. A table didn't HAVE to have flowers in the center of it, of course... It could have other things! Bird cages! Teensy bonsai trees! Or -- or -- oh... wow...
Suddenly a vision caught Blush's eye. A tiny flutter with golden hair and an earring, pulling ... something glittery and jade with her. What on earth was that?!
"Excuse me!" called Blush in her dainty voice, trying to keep herself from galloping over. "Oh, oh! Excuse me!"

Golden Doubloon couldn't believe her luck! She had found the prettiest, no, the ULTIMATE treasure at a yard sale of all places. Those silly phonies had no clue what they had just thrown away all willy-nilly.
Sure it was a tough pull, but the trouble would be worth it when she brought the precious good home to the crew. Seated in her cart was a good-size beautifully crafted kelpie statue made entirely out of gold and jade.
Golden Doubloon nearly keeled over in awe when she saw it just lying there amongst rusty old junk! Sure it was dusty and probably hadn't seen the light of day in years, but it must of been booty from a fierce pirate's raid years ago. They loved stuff like this!
And to think she got it all for the low low price of nineteen ninety nine bits! Heh, those suckers. The way it shimmered and glistened in the light...and the heavy weight, meant it had to be pirate treasure. She'd seen so many pictures of statues just like this in her books! It just had to be a relic. There was no way she was sold something fake. Ninetenn ninety nine bits was a lot of money to fork over for an replica.
As Golden Doubloon tugged and dragged the cart home with her bounty strapped down, she just kept imagining the reactions from her friends. They'll be so proud! Maybe it will even become a center piece on the ship? One they would admire for decades to come...or at least until Golden found more!
But just as the flutter was picturing the crew's faces of amazement, a voice tickled her ears. Quickly the pirate twirled about and glanced at who was calling her. "Hm? Uh....yes?"

Blush hurried her step to get over to the flutter, who seemed positively BEAMING with pride. Blush could only hope it was for some other reason than the gorgeous (if dusty) statue she had in her coffers.
"Hello!" she greeted cheerily. "Oh, hi! I'm Blushing Bride, and may I just say -- that is a LOVELY statue you have in your hooves!" She put on her most glittering smile. It would make a gorgeous centerpiece for a wedding. Flowers around it... perhaps a water function? Ooh!
"What's your name?" she tacked on, remembering her politeness.

Golden Doubloon puffed up with pride and patted the treasure as it was complimented. "Isn't it? It was once a pirate king's most prized possession! And I found it." She grinned widely at the pretty filly who seemed upmost impressed.
"I'm Golden Doubloon! And I'm part of a pirate crew! See this earring?" She tilted her head to show off the silver 'X' hanging from her ear. "This is our insignia. We all wear it!"
But wait...it wasn't polite to just talk about herself. Captain Salty always said it was nice to get to know others, even if they weren't a pirate. "So, who are you? Do you love treasure too?"

A pirate!? Blush paled visibly for a moment, taking a half-step backward. Had this little smiling flutter stolen that treasure out of someone else's ... something!? She knew nothing about PIRATES! Maybe this was a bad idea...
But wait! What was she talking about?! The flutter seemed perfectly normal, earring aside! And they were both babbens! How dangerous could she be?
"O-oh, well..." she stammered, suddenly sounding like her mother. She cleared her throat and tried again. "Well! It's quite lovely as a piece. I'm Blushing Bride. And I don't think it's treasure that I really love, although I am in love with that statue. I think it could be a really gorgeous centerpiece for a wedding ceremony or reception. I don't suppose you would be interested in parting with it? Maybe for... thirty bits?"

Golden Doubloon tilted her head to the side at the other filly's sudden case of the jitters. Was it something she said? "Oh that's right!" She clapped her hooves together and gasped, "You already told me your name.I'm sorry! I can be pretty forgetful at times." Oof! Silly her...gloating and forgetting just like that. Not the best start to meeting someone but hopefully she could make up for this little introductory mistake.
The curly haired flutter looked back at her pretty treasure and grinned widely. "I bet it could be! How couldn't you love something so radiant? I bet everyone at the whole wedding would adore it!" Just like her crew would when she got it home.
But then Blushing Bridge had other ideas than just staring in awe at the statue with Golden Doubloon. "You want me to sell it? My treasure?" For thirty bits? That was, like, a whole ten dollars more than what she bought it for! That was quite a lot of money...but this was for her crew! She couldn't just sell it. C-Could she?

The jitters slowed themselves as the curly-haired flutter showed herself to be -- well, Blush thought, at least -- completely normal. There was nothing wholly dangerous or threatening about her! She just seemed to be very excited and very, very attached to her statue.
Attached...
A pang of guilt rang through Blush. Yes, she was offering something in exchange, but was it worth it? Golden's eyes sparkled when they alighted on the statue, and shouldn't that have been enough? Blush hemmed and hawed. It was so pretty, though!
"I-if... if you want to," Blush began, hesitant. "Do you have something you were going to, uhm, do with it?"

Golden Doubloon nibbled on a strand of her hair as she weighed giving up the statue for the bits, which would be very nice to have more of, or keeping it for her crew. Thirty bits could definitely come of use for further expeditions but was it really worth giving up the glittering prize she found?
"Well..I mean...I'm sure it would make someone's wedding day very very nice. But...well...I was going to give it to my pirate crew. I thought they would like it and we could use it on the ship for something. Not too sure what yet, but we always need more pirate treasure."
It would certainly would make a nice wedding centerpiece, and bring a great smile to the faces of those in attendance. But...her crew meant everything to Golden Doubloon. She did whatever she could to make them happy and this statue would make them absolutely thrilled.

Blushing Bride listened to Golden speak, the sense of unease growing within her chest as the flutter continued speaking. More and more, she began to realize that 'pirate crew' didn't mean what Blush thought it did, initially. Maybe Golden WAS a pirate -- or maybe she was part of a family that was crazy about piracy.
If Blush was honest, she knew she couldn't steal that statue away from a family that would treasure it. Wasn't that what a wedding really was? The building of a new family? Why give a statue to a new family when someone in an existing one already claimed it? It just didn't seem right. And Golden was definitely sticking by her own family.
"Y-you know, maybe it's better for your ship, then," said Blush, even though part of her still badly wanted to press for it. What a gorgeous piece it was! So lovely in color... It pinched her slightly to be honest, but she knew that she must. "I think you should keep it. You guys will get a lot of pleasure from its beauty, I just know it."

"Are you sure?" Golden Doubloon knew she had to ask even if she was thrilled to know she could keep it and not feel bad. Guilt still hung on her because she truly didn't want to give up the kelpie statue, but she had to be loyal to her crew. Pirates never gave up their treasure. Besides, who knew what this kind of treasure could do for them! It could be the good luck charm they always needed! Old treasure always had something special about it like that.
She brushed a tiny hoof over the statue and watched it glisten with wide and hopeful eyes, "Thanks Blush. I really appreciate it. Ya know....I could always help you find some stuff for your weddings. I mean, I need to stay with my crew and give most of the good stuff to them but if I find something that would suit a wedding better than a ship...I could give it to you."
Maybe that was a better compromise? Golden Doubloon could still help Blush. It was just in a different manner than the pretty unicorn was planning. But this way they both won!

Blush nodded. "Of course."
As difficult as it was to admit for her, loyalty was more important. She wouldn't want to give up something she'd earmarked for Tink or Gigi, either! So how could she fault Golden Doubloon for doing no different? "It's important that you're loyal to your crew... it's an inspiration, really!"
The smile returned to Blush's face as Golden continued. "Really? You'd do that? I'd pay you, of course -- that'd be so wonderful! Thank you so much!"

Phew! Golden Doubloon was relieved. She'd hate to make Blush cry so this was a wonderful compromise. If it wouldn't look odd, Golden Doubloon would of patted herself on the back for her great idea.
"They'll love it! You should come over sometime to check it out when it's all set up. I think you'd like our ship. It might not be as glamorous as a wedding but it definitely has great character!" Golden Doubloon grinned and confidently nodded, "Of course! I love looking for treasure. I'll find you something that sparkles and is a pretty work of art! Your weddings will be golden." The little flutter giggled and winked at her new found friend and business partner. This was the beginning of something grand!

Blush smiled brightly, her mood already buoyed by her new friend's promise. "I'd love to come see your ship one day! I'm sure with your eye, you guys will have an absolute treasure-trove of things to see there. I'm always either at Delta's Delights yarn shop right outside Phonyland or in the Kissogram Delivery Service headquarters. Come and see me sometime, won't you?"
She smiled brightly, waving to Golden Doubloon. Leaving the upbeat flutter filly made Blush feel, strangely enough, that she wanted to go hang out with her siblings.
