Her paws were aching from walking so much. She knew she could have just flew to her target location, but how fun would that be? Dotoka hardly ever traveled by flying. She preferred to walk. It helped her meet mortals and occasionally fellow gods. Today though, she was focused on finding her target. A traveling ratel told her that there was a waterfall around here that when the light hit it right sparkled like gems. She didn't want to miss out on seeing such a sight! It was made better that today was a nice day, though a bit chilly for her liking. At least the sun was up, she thought as she started to climb up some rocks. The ratel had given her a direction and some landmarks to help her. He said he had important business to attend to and couldn't help her any more. She understood, though she wished that she had better directions then just the ones he gave her. She was sure that she was heading the right way though. He had warned her about the rocky terrain. It wasn't anything she couldn't handle though.

A brown lion with green mane was climbing the same rocky area. It was all too easy to misstep and stub a toe in the unpredictable terrain, and his climbing was periodically interrupted by grumbling and swearing. Paean was fairly certain he had been tricked somehow. But the most likely explanation was that he had tricked himself... He had volunteered to help Ester after all. She'd almost made it sound as if she was making him a favour. Long story short he was now out here looking for a plant that was running low in his sister's stores. She was too busy with her new position to go plant hunting like she used to.
It was supposed to grow in this rocky place, and unfortunately it blended in really well. Its fleshy grey-green leaves made it look like an oddly shaped rock, and so far Paean hadn't spotted any. But perhaps over there... He craned his neck to try to see if it was a plant or just a regular old stone, and in doing so he stopped paying attention to where he put his paws. One false step and he slid down between two larger rocks with a surprised yelp.
"I'm okay," he said to no one in particular, "I'm okay..."
Okay, but in a very tight spot. Climbing up again would be interesting...

It shouldn't be much further, she thought with a grin. Dortoka was excited to see the waterfall. So far it had been a good adventure. There were plenty of spots that provided amazing views of the area. Every time she stopped and looked at the area, it made her that much more eager to reach the waterfall at the top. Dortoka was climbing up some rocks when she heard the voice. She paused for a moment to see if she could hear it again, but all she could hear was the brushing of wind against the rocks. A frown fell on her face. She could swear that she did hear someone. If there was someone around she didn't just want to leave. They could be hurt. She couldn't live with herself if she just abandoned someone. “Is there someone here?” she asked, raising her voice and looking around. She couldn't see anyone. She waited to see if she could hear anyone.

Paean was almost completely hidden from view in the space between the two rocks. One hind paw touched the ground and the other leg was up against the 'wall'. He couldn't see over the edge, but he was fairly certain he had heard someone. Paean wasn't sure how anyone could help him out of his tight spot, but he wasn't going to sit here silently just because he couldn't figure it out. They might have an idea, or at least be able to keep him company while he tried to wiggle out on his own.
"Over here," he hollered and tried to hook one of his front legs over the edge of one of the rocks.
The top of his mane was probably visible too, but it might just look like a misplaced tuft of grass bobbing up and down. He tried to push himself up a bit, but with meager results.

There it was again, the voice, this time she was sure she didn't imagine it. Dortoka walked over to where it was coming from, though she still couldn't see who had been talking. Her eyes caught on a strange turf of grass. She didn't think she saw it a minute ago. When she got closer to it, she could see that it was not grass, but hair. “This is where you've been hiding!” She said, slightly pleased with herself. She peered down the crack and looked at the lion. “How did you get yourself down there?” She was thinking about how she could help him get out of there. She could always move one of the rocks, though she would have to be careful not to drop it. Or she could get smaller to she could squeeze in with him and then grow larger. She could feel excitement grow within her. This might be her chance to use her goddess powers to help someone!

"Oh, hi," he said and looked up at the large lioness who had appeared above him. There was something unusual about her that he couldn't put his paw on at the moment. Not that it mattered. Paean didn't judge others based on appearance.
"You know, I'm not sure," he said with a grin, "I guess it must be raw talent..."
It wasn't a very comfortable position to be in, but Paean would rather crack a joke than whine about it.
"Or it could be a case of not looking where I went," he said and tried to shrug. It didn't really work, but something poked him in the back when he tried. "I guess I should try to get out of here..."
Unless he wanted to take up the habits of a trapdoor spider, and become the first ever trapdoor lion. Only he didn't have a door to his 'burrow', and he was sure most things he liked to eat wouldn't be silly enough to fall down to him. Yeah, getting out of the crack would probably be a better option. He tried to stand on his toes again, but he couldn't get a good enough grip with his front paws.

Dortoka smiled at him. At least he seemed well enough to make jokes, she thought. He probably wasn't seriously injured. “I think it would be best to get you out of there. It would be a terribly boring place to live out the rest of your days.” She frowned at the thought, she would be sure that that wouldn't happen to him. For the most part, she avoided getting to involved with mortals but sometimes she couldn't help but want to help them. If she just left him down there she would feel guilty for days and she couldn't have that. She watched him try to get out. As she watched, she worried that he might accidentally hurt himself. “I'm just going to move the rock is that alright?” she asked just in case he did want to continue trying to get out by himself. Though she was sure that if she was careful she could destroy the rock without harming him. While thinking what she could do to help, she walked down to the base of the rock and examined it. “It looks like it wouldn't be too hard to move out of the way. I think a couple good pushes should do it.”

"Yeah," Paean agreed, "I think so too. Any suggestions?"
She did, in fact, have a suggestion. Had she just asked if she was allowed to move the rock? He must have heard her wrong. But he could hear her from somewhere behind the rock, talking about pushing it away. Paean sure couldn't move it, but he couldn't see what she saw. Some quirk of the terrain might make it easier to move from her side of the rock.
"Uh, sure," he said, "Go ahead if you think it'll work."
He didn't expect much of anything, but if she managed to move the rock he wouldn't have to figure out how to climb up.

Dortoka started pushing the rock away from the other one. She was stronger then most rogues, but even she had her limits. The rock barely budged as she put her weight in it. Slowly it moved away, making a larger opening. She looked at her work. It didn't move too much, but she was sure that it moved enough. She panted as she walked around the rock. “Is that enough room to help you get out?” She asked. “If not I might be able to move it a bit more.” Though she wasn't sure how much more she could move it before tiring out. She peeked down the crack to see how he was doing.

Paean could feel the rock move under his paws. When it stopped he had more room to maneuver and managed to scramble up the side of the rock after only two tries. His rescuer waited for him up top, and for the first time he got a really good look of her. It was really lucky that she had heard him, and that she'd been able to move the rock.
"Thanks," he said, still panting from the climbing. "I'm Paean. Good thing you're strong."
Ah, life looked better already. He was glad he wouldn't have to spend more time in that hole. Honestly, he shouldn't be allowed outside pride territory if this was what happened. But on the other paw, he had met an interesting lioness. And some day, this would be a funny story...Club Snails I don't know if she's in disguise or not, so I didn't want to assume anything.

She smiled at him, thankful that he was able to get out safely. “I'm Dortoka! It is nice to meet you!” She was a bit out of breath, but she thought it would be rude if she didn't introduce herself. “It was no problem. It isn't everyday that I get to save the day.” She gave a little stretch. It would have been easier to move the rock if she was in her true form, she thought. It was just a pain to be in that form around mortals. She preferred to just blend in. “You didn't get hurt while you were down there did you?” She asked, looking him up and down for any scrapes. She didn't know anything about healing wounds and knew that if he was hurt she would be pretty useless. “Why are you up here anyways? Isn't it dangerous to travel alone? Especially on rocky terrain like this?” She didn't really think about how hypocritical her question was, seeing as she almost always traveled alone. Annchen I'm sorry about that. sweatdrop She's in her mortal form.

"Nice to meet you too!" he was glad for the company, and not only because she had saved his furry behind today.
He took a moment to check for any injuries, but through dumb luck he was only dirty and not hurt at all. He shook his head to tell her he was ok, and wondered if she could be a wandering healer. Her concerned questions reminded him of Ester, when she assessed a patient and simultaneously berated them for doing something stupid. Or perhaps that was just her "silly brother" treatment.
"I guess," he said and grinned, "I do seem to attract danger... But I'm looking for some kind of healing plant for my sister. It's supposed to grow in rocky terrain around here so I have no choice really."Club Snails No problem! Bah... Sorry for being slow.

Dortoka gave him a huge grin. She was thankful that he was alright. If he had been hurt, she wasn't sure how she would react! At least she wouldn't have to worry about that. Her ears perked up when he talked about the plant. “Oh maybe I can help you find it?” She said eagerly. Then she frowned. “Though to be honest I don't know much about plants so I wouldn't have any ideas what to look for.” She didn't want to accompany him if she was just going to be a burden. Perhaps she could just make sure he was safe during his quest. That was something she could do without being an annoyance. “If you like, I could travel with you to make sure you stay safe on your journey. You never know what sort of danger could be lurking behind the rocks.” She gave him a playful grin. There was nothing that lived here that could scare her, that was for sure. Annchen If you would like, we could wrap this one up and do one of them searching for the plant.

Paean returned the playful grin. He liked Dortoka already, and it would be great with some company. She seemed to be easy going, if a bit protective... And given what she knew about him he could understand her worry. He didn't usually get stuck in narrow spaces on accident, but that was the lion she had seen so far.
"I'd love that," he said, "I'll try to explain what to look for. Two pairs of eyes should be better than just one, right?"
The plant was hard to spot since it blended in so well, but it was easy enough to identify. It would probably help a lot with a second person on the job. He started walking, careful to keep one eye on the ground as he talked. He'd learned that lesson.
"See... It looks a bit like an oddly shaped rock," he started explaining, "It's got fleshy grey-green leaves and if you break one off it oozes blue liquid that smells rather pleasant. We'll know when we get the right one."
The day was looking better and better. In fact, he wouldn't mind if it took a while to find Ester's supplies.

“Yep!” Dortoka responded eagerly. She enjoyed helping others. The description of the plant sounded interesting. It did sound like it would be rough trying to find it but if they searched together it wouldn't be too hard.
