Despite the sun still rising into the pale blue sky there was a chill that lingered in the breeze as it drifted lazily among the trees. Snow was still lying like a wool blanket across the once bright green grass and the small little pond that the mare had grown fond of was covered in a thick sheet of ice like a white glass surface. Deep under the mare’s soft curls two little birds chirped at one another as their mother stood looking at the pure white scene in front of her. With the glistening sun everything looked like a wonderland of light and reminded the mare of her own golden flakes that decorated her white fur. Taking in a deep breath of the cold she closed her eyes for a moment before opening them again.
It was still beautiful.
She wanted it to last forever, but that could not happen as a rumble started to sound in her stomach. Looking one last time Vski started forward letting her front hoof sink into the fresh snow her wings stretching from her side. The crunching sound felt as if it could echo as she continued forward tucking her wings as close as she could to her side. Breakfast at the river again, it wasn’t too bad there was little remnants of green and fresh water despite its frosty cold. It was still hard to find any worms though, the cold seemed to drive them deeper into the cold earth and as much as Vski wanted to treat the small birds she took care of it was impossible at times to get anything other than seeds. But she would try like she did every morning, she though with a soft smile on her face as she entered the into the small forest.
