"Um... I'd say you're late, but I'll just be honest: I got way too impatient waiting."

The confession burst from the painted lips of a lengthy red-garbed Page, hands clasped to her hips as she stood proud and tall near the dissipating corpse of a youma. The creature had been a fascinating mix of vines and mid-sized feline. It'd almost been a shame to kill the thing. Minus, of course, it's rather sharp claws. Her red toga now sported a few new slashes she knew would vanish the next time she powered up, and her left leg had a few tiny red marks she bent to rub at now and then. Nothing major.

Had she waited for her companion--like she said she would, like she told herself numerous times she would--then she likely wouldn't have had a scratch on her. Or at least less of them. But when she'd texted him that day, asking if he'd be up for some practice against youma, she'd picked a meet up location that usually had the creatures prowling around in short range. From the alley she stood in, she could see across the broad street to one of Destiny City's parks. One that seemed to be a particular favorite of powered people and, subsequently--or because of?--youma. The evening hours were just barely dark enough to have the street lamps on, but natural light was reliable enough to pick her way through the alleyways.

She just... happened to come across a prowling youma before Ashur showed up. "Promise there'll be more though," she grinned, hands falling loose at her side as she made her way towards the other knight. The fading light assisted her as she scanned him quickly. Eyes snagged on the bandaid on his face. Brow rose in question, mouth opened to voice it--only to snag again on his bandaged hands. "...the <********> have you been up to since the other day?" And he hadn't invited her? Shame shame.

BUT I DID THIS AT WORK SO WHATEVAH
PostPosted: Wed Jan 15, 2014 5:32 pm

There was no real reason he was on the verge of being late, actually.

He just hadn’t been in too much of a mood to do anything since his dad’s visit, though he did have the courtesy to send a confirmatory, albeit rather lazy, “k” as a reply before sitting on his a** in the living room for a good 10 or so minutes and contemplating whether or not he'd come up with an excuse not to go. In the end he still wound up heading up to the roof and powering up, but Ashur wasn’t in any particular rush.

So the fact that she’d had the time to go ahead and dust a youma in his absence was, in actuality, his fault. Still, her statement did his mood just a little bit of good and he gave her a smirk and a shrug for a reply. ”Figures,” the teen replied cooly, not at all bothered that she’d gotten a bit of training in ahead of him. The Page just wasn’t of mind, mostly, though it was nice to be in the company of a friend for once. He’d been cooped up in his apartment for how long, now? Two days, maybe three? ”You could’ve picked a spot that isn’t always crawling with these things, you know.”

Ash stood nearby the alley’s entrance, his arms now crossed across his chest as he watched Themi make her way over. There wasn’t much by way of light, but the sun was still setting so there was a bit of natural light streaming into the alleyway. Ash caught the new scratches that she was now sporting, brows raised. He would have commented had her attention not flicked to the bandaid first, then the bandages on his hands, both of which served as a reminder of that ever-so-pleasant visit from his old man.

At her question there was a flash of anger in his eyes, but it was gone in an instant and he plastered a sheepish sort of smile on his face. Sighing, he scratched his head. ”Project gone wrong,” was the story he could safely stick to. ”Small explosion resulting in a tiny fireworks display on my table, parts flying all over the place.” Ash threw a smile in there for good measure, though how genuine it was and how well she could tell was up in the air. He could only hope that she'd buy it, but in the meantime there was no way he’d just wait for her reply to find out.

”Not important, though," the Page went on. "You said something about practicing?”

Curiosity of a cat when it came to life, and the patience of a two year-old when it came to fights. Youma were fun to go after. Plus she could never deny the smug satisfaction she got each time one bit the dust by her alone. It was doing the city a service taking them out, and polishing her ego at the same time. She'd seen this one prowling around just so close to her perched position on the rooftop and... well. It was an itch she couldn't ignore.

His easy responses to her honesty made her grin, tsking him in mock scold. Pick a less populated spot... bah! "We want a place that's crawling with them, Ashur dear." The finger she'd wagged towards him dropped back down to her side as she laughed, "All the easier to find targets to practice on. Although..." Her red gaze moved over to the park that stood as a backdrop to him, again her thoughts snagging on how so many powered people and trouble seemed to find their way to the park. "One of these days, police have got to start getting smart and start patroling this place, too. Too much crap goes on here." Why the cops weren't trying to do more against the falsely acused terrorists, though, was a welcomed mystery to her.

Finally picking her way successfully to the opening of the alley, her lips pressed together tight to try and smoother the amusement that her heels gave her that tiny bit of height over him. This wasn't a new concept. She was taller than a lot of people in heels. And sometimes without heels. But it was still funny... His bandages kept her relatively sober though.

She'd missed the look in his eyes. Lightening and her distracted thoughts kept her from looking at his face directly till she stood before him. Even then, she was reaching out to try and grab one of his hands--lightly, carefully--with the intent on seeing what the damage actually was. Should he be out fighting that night? His explaination for what happened made her breath come out in a small sputter, eyes flashing to his, wide and dumbfounded. "Explosion and fireworks? Dude." She glanced from his hands to his face, taking in the smile at face-value. No reason to question him. No reason to doubt. He'd thrown a sparkly object in her face by mentioning those two words. She was wonderfully distracted. "What do you do in your daily life?" Themiscyra was laughing, trying to guess what sort of projects would result in antics like that.

His question brought her somewhat back to the purpose behind their intended meeting. Sort of. Again, wonderfully distracted. But she nodded her head, straightening and looking between Ashur and the park across the street. "Yeah.... Well, combat practice. Figured we could go hunt down some of the youma around here. I want to see how you handle yourself." More knight stuff. Training. For both of them. She already had a blast chasing the creatures down. If Ashur could make sitting on a cold rooftop entertaining, she could only imagine what he could bring to fights. An exciting thought, that.

Of course, that's assuming he really was in shape to be throwing punches...

He shrugged. ”Guess so,” the teen conceded. What Themi had said was true enough: training would obviously be easier if the youma were coming at them rather than them having to chase one down, so there was no need to question it. At mention of the park Ash glanced over his shoulder, catching a glimpse of the area before scoffing. ”It’d be more hassle for us if they did, though,” he said. ”Getting rid of the youma infestation and making sure the cops don’t go and get themselves killed every night sounds like too much work.”

His laziness at its finest, though in a way he did think he had something of a point.

Those thoughts aside, when she was finally standing basically right in front of him he had to keep himself from heaving a sigh at the reminder that she was ever so slightly taller than him. Ash tried not to let it bother him, though. There were plenty of other people taller than him. The fact that Themi was, was...well…..okay, it bothered him a little. His brow quirked a bit at the look on her face, though he couldn’t really tell if it was amusement or smugness or a mix of both. As she reached out for his hands, though, his height was suddenly the last thing on his mind.

Ash casually tried to keep her from taking his hand, using it to make stupid hand-motions to kind of illustrate what had happened instead to kind of keep her from thinking anything more of the bandages. She seemed caught up enough in his story, so he could probably embellish a little more. The smile was still plastered on as he lied through his teeth. ”Yeah, I uh...kind of screwed up some wiring without realizing it -- got distracted by the tube -- and next thing I know my project just blows up in my face.” Cerulean eyes narrowed slightly at that, trying to see if there was anything she could poke a hole through. ”Minor stuff though, so nothing to worry about. Pretty, though, in a science-nerd kind of way.”

The guy wasn’t the best liar out there, but he was hoping that would do the trick. He really needed her focus to go back to youma and less to his hands. Honestly, he did appreciate the concern, but it wasn’t something she needed to worry about in the first place. His hobbies, though, he’d be happy to rant about for a good hour or four.

Unfortunately now wasn’t the time, so he left that topic for later and instead tried to turn his attention to, as she said it, combat practice. This was the first time he’d actually have to make an effort to dust a youma -- so far he’d mostly distracted the things away from other civilians and ran for his life in the opposite direction -- so this should prove to be quite...an experience. He tried not to think about it too seriously, though.

”Okay, so...the park?” Ash jabbed his thumb in the general direction of said park, trying to move things along and not give her a chance to worry about his hands again. He was probably okay to punch the living daylights out of a youma or two even with the bandages on, or at the very least amuse the hell out of himself trying. If there was anything the teen probably needed, it was to get out of his own headspace, and while beating on youma wasn't the best way to go about it, having Themi around to goof off and have fun with definitely was.

There was a screech and Jarosite looked up. His youma, Amp, flew above him, pausing occasionally to roll his head in the direction of the park. It was one of the few times Jarosite had called his youma, very intent on keeping him alive, but he needed patrolling help this time. Between the senshi and order power signatures, the chaos ones, and the various youma and wraiths, Jarosite was having a hard time picking one signature in particular to go after.

Apparently Amp had found one for him. The feathered dragon youma turned and flew off in the direction of the park, a tail flick signaling Jarosite to follow. the Captain followed quietly, tuning himself into the power signatures and searching for what Amp found. The signatures were on the other side of the park from him, but weak; new to the scene then.

Very much on the wrong side, as well. Ah, a pity. Had they found Jarosite months ago, he would have talked. Now. Now he was out for bloody vengance. And besides, punching the living day lights out of a senshi or page was thrilling. Clearly not as satisfying as ending their miserably existences but Jarosite still had some semblance of a code.

Sort of. It was slowly being eaten away with his hatred of everything White Moon though.

He cracked his knuckles and hid in a tree, waiting for his prey to arrive to their, ah, hunt. Amp settled onto the ground beneath him, waiting, and acting as bait.

Come to him little ones...

"But think of how cool it'd be to team up with cops to hunt these ******** down!" Maybe her head was too much into the comic books and movies. But it would be neat to have the city on their side. In that simple thought, Ashur's laziness was shoved aside in favor of her own enthusiasm.

Enthusiasm that didn't quite seem to meet her training partner. Themiscyra hadn't missed how he'd tried to keep his hands from her, but the way he spun his story had her let the fact go pretty quick. She laughed, believing what he said about being distracted. Her look was sympathetic though, one that spoke volumes of her opinion that he could let himself get hurt like that. "So you're easily distracted. I'll keep that in mind tonight." She paused before laughing again, her hand coming down hard on his shoulder as she began to walk past him. An action she meant to be friendly. "Don't need you getting impaled on something because a youma caught you looking the wrong way."

Her teasing was meant to spur him on, hoping to lure more laughter and perhaps a challenging spark out of him. She didn't know Ashur that well, least not really in a fight. Fighting was fun to her. Trashing youma was a blast.

Testing the capabilities of a friend? All the better. But she'd need to see some spirit in him for it.

She could feel the bad vibes coming from the park, even as she laughed outright, crossing the street with barely a glance in either direction. Her fists clenched, shoulders rolling. The tiny scratches on her were already forgotten, amped up to see what else she could take out that evening. A screech came from deeper into the park and she halted, straightening as red eyes scanned the trees she could make out from there. Turning to Ashur, she grinned, eyes wide and bright and thrilled. "Sounds like we've got our first fight. C'mon." She didn't wait for him, taking off into a steady jog in the direction of the worst of the warning bells and creepy vibes she was getting. Her radar was going of without a question. Chaos-vibes. Her heeled sandals clacked against the pavement of the path she followed into the denser treed zone, searching for the source of the warnings.

Didn't take her especially long to find the.... dragon... bird? Ok. Hi. Hello. It was almost a shame to see this was an enemy. And yet so freaking cool.

Themiscyra laughed, a whoop fueled by adrenaline and ideas born of too many comic books. "That is what I was hoping for." She cracked her knuckles--so unaware she was repeating the same actions of another--and glanced from the creature to the area around them. How to do this.... how to take it down....

He had to admit, it probably would be at least some help if the cops started teaming up with them. Even better if the whole city sided with Order, even, but he wasn't that much of an optimist and he knew that that was just a little too ideal of a situation to happen. He let that topic die with a little laugh-huff type sound and a shrug.

He was grateful for the fact that she didn't ask any questions, just stated something he'd been told about himself (and something he'd noticed in more recent months) and gave him some kind of...look. He couldn't place it, but as long as she didn't linger on the topic of his hands then he was fine with just about any look she gave him. He offered a half-smile, hoping that her enthusiasm would somehow rub off on him just as her hand landed on his shoulder -- yes, he winced ever so slightly, then rolled his shoulder a bit after. Of course, he tried to play it off as a wince to the impaling idea.

"Dude," he said with an amused snort as he walked after her, soon walking in pace beside her. "C'mon, I'm not that--" and he cut himself off, eyes narrowed as he considered. "Alright, maybe I am that bad, but I doubt I'll have any trouble focusing tonight."

Bald. Faced. Lie.

But they walked on and he could feel the energy just kind of coming off of her; he couldn't tell her that his head wasn't really in it. He'd muster up some kind of spirit if he really needed to, just enough to be convincing, since he couldn't back out now. Ashur crossed the street after her just as he heard the screech. Het met her eyes briefly and he saw the excitement in them, the anticipation. Before he could say anything she darted off.

"Damnit, wait up!" he called, going at a run until he was on her heels. Thankfully he was used to running, so chasing after her didn't take too much of the wind out of him.

He didn't really figure out that she was following a power signature until they'd gotten closer -- a sign that he badly needed to work on his signature-reading skills. Before long he followed her into an area with denser foliage and jogged up beside her, eyes set on the youma she'd been tailing. Some kind of a dragon-thing, he wasn't really sure how to refer to youma. Things or animals or what. Thing just seemed safest.

It was a bit of a surprise to him when she started laughing beside him, and he turned to her with a curious expression. What she said, though, got another amused snort out of him, as well as made him shake his head ever so slightly; and he was smiling, despite himself.

"If you think this is funny, remind me to ask about some of the other stuff you do for kicks later."

The amphithere snaked its way along the ground. It was a good three feet in length, roughly the size of a cat in its limbs and torso, with a wingspan to match. It looked at the pages and sat back on it's hind legs. It screeched loudly and then unfurled its wings as it's master dropped from his hiding place in the trees. The youma flew up and circled the tree above him before landing on the highest branches.

A beacon incase they drew company.

Jarosite stood and looked over the pages. Toga chick and... a jedi. Well then. Better than frilly skirts and lace, he supposed. Maybe. Eh whatever.

"My my, what do we have here? A pair of pages out youma hunting? How... darling." A cheshire like smirk grew on his face, showing his teeth. How darling indeed. "Too bad this'll be your last."

He charged them and aimed for the space between the pages. Both arms snapped out, aiming to hit both of them in jaw and send them tumbling down. He didn't quiet like going up against two powereds at once; his strength was more in solo combat, but didn't mean he couldn't fight two on one. It would just be a challenge.

How could he not think this was funny? It was an adorable cat-sized monster that they had to dust. It was almost tragic. Could youma be pets?

She'd been thinking the strong aura she felt came from the youma. It wasn't until another figure jumped down and the youma bolted for the branches that she became aware this... was not the case. Her brows furrowed for a moment before a bright smile snapped onto her features. "The ******** are you?"

This guy--dressed in blue and black, head to toe--was... odd. His aura was strong, and tinged with whatever made the youma 'big bads' on her mental radar. She'd only briefly encountered non-senshi, non-knights at the lake with the eclipse issue--Negaverse, right? That's what Hugbell and Valhalla called them. She'd never had a chance to ask details on what they were, beyond "enemy" or "well not always enemy."

His lines definitely irked her, though. "Dude, not sure what you've got in your head, but there ain't a ******** thing 'darling' about either of us," she laughed, keeping a lid on her temper. She didn't actually intend to pick a fight with the guy--though something about him made her muscles tense, she couldn't deny that.

....maybe it'd been just a sense?

He'd moved faster than she'd realized he would, though she'd already begun to back up a little at his later words. Last? She'd caught his arm at the last moment, using his own momentum to try and redirect his aim away from her face--she only somewhat succeeded, feeling a sharp more-than-a-graze just below her ear that had sent a ringing sensation through it. "....well fine then," she snarled, sending a fist of her own towards his shoulder, hoping to catch the joint at a bad angle.

"Sometimes friends," huh, Valhalla? She was gonna have to have words with the Jupiter Knight.

Ashur had kept his eyes focused on his fellow Page for the most part, not even noticing the fact that the bird-youma-thing had gone up into the trees. He did hear it give a screech though, and he was about to make a comment about it when Themiscyra seemed to regard someone else in the immediate vicinity. Ash glanced sideward, half-assuming it was the youma she was talking to, but was rather...surprised (was his power-reading skill that bad?) when he saw someone else in place of the monster.

He didn't bother echoing the Martian's question, instead squaring his shoulders and facing the "guest" properly. The Page sized him up, starting with his aura -- stronger than any youma he'd encountered thus far (which...wasn't saying much since that number was...two) -- and going to his outfit before finally curling his lip slightly at what he was saying. His assessment? Likely hostile, quite possibly an a**. Ashur's body tensed somewhat at the other's final words, and he felt like something was a little...off, but he was a lot faster than the Page imagined.

He flinched at the other's sudden movement, which resulted in him catching the guy's arm in full force right in the jaw.

Ash could have sworn he heard a crack, and there was a definite ringing in both of his ears as he fell back. He couldn't think of what else to do in that state, which was probably expected for someone with so little fighting experience, so he tried to grab his arm and drag the guy down with him.

He hit one in the jaw, and grazed the other, who threw a punch towards his own jaw. The Uranus page attempted to drag him to the ground, which succeeded in making the Mars b***h's fist. Well thanks pagey boy. While he fell, he snapped a leg out towards the Mars Page, the tread of his boot aimed straight for her kneecap. It was times like this he cursed his ex-girlfriend and her flexible, ballet trained hips. His just did not have the range of motion hers did.

The Captain glanced at the page beneath him and tried twisting his arm in his grasp so his elbow collided with the boy's sternum or stomach. Kinda hard to achieve without dislocating the thing, but the fabric did allow for the limb inside it to move some. There wasn't much else she could do at that point in time, mostly due to the angle and the fact his arm was trapped.

If nothing else, it would lull the two into a false sense of security.
