Xenosa had quite the experience now with capturing Vlideans, she rarely if ever missed her shot. This time was no exception; she’d done her net set up once more after picking the right Vlidean. She wanted only the brightest and most striking Vlidean she could find, and this one seemed to be a bright teal and orange. Quite flamboyant for a Vlidean, granted there wasn’t a single one of them that was not striking in coloration. It wasn’t very practical if she wanted something inconspicuous at night time, but she didn’t have much of a choice as to what was around. She’d settled on capturing a Vlidean and she was going to execute this plan until she had one. In any case, she was out here so often now it would feel lame for her to give up so soon. Whe one invested this much time into an activity; you saw it through to the end.
The Vlidean she finally managed to catch was still small and growing, but vibrant as could be which pleased her. It was a lot more vicious that the others she’d been able to catch so far, lunging at her as she tried to get it down safely for both of them. This was the first one that had ever acted like that, perhaps it was the age but Xenosa was hell bent on getting a young bird. It looked like training it was going to be one hell of a ride, but that made her smile. Hadn’t Daesat said something like that about her once? Yes, she remembered quite clearly the same words being said by her mentor. Xenosa found the irony in that, but this little thing wasn’t about to scare her away. She’d faced things that were much scarier and much more dangerous.

45 = FAIL!
The Vlidean wanted nothing to do with her; it was angry and would not stop trying to get to her by bite or claw. Oh yes this one moved when she moved, watching her with no fear in its eyes. Was it trying to show off for the other birds? She didn’t know, but at this point Xenosa regarded the glaring look with a cool one of her own. The food she tried to give the young Vlidean would just end up sitting there or it would try to throw it back at her. It wanted nothing to do with her, it turned away briefly to not look at the Orderite but she was sure it was still somehow keeping an eye on her. Honestly, it was probably just this pissed off at her because he was still young and she’d been able to catch him and not another.
Finally, Xenosa gave up. She was sure there would certainly be another Vlidean to be caught that wouldn’t be this hostile. Usually she didn’t give up, but she’d had to release so many other Vlideans she’d caught one more wasn’t going to change much anyway. So she released the one she’d caught with great difficulty and watched it fly away not too far. She was pretty sure if she had her back to it, it would probably try and strike her down from the capture. Maybe a dagger to the wing would teach it a lesson, Xenosa stared it down. When it didn’t move she nodded, good. She did not bring down targets simply because they were hostile towards her, he was a beautiful bird and maybe someone else was going to have more luck catching him. Either that or he would make wonderful little snippy baby Vlideans with their fathers temperament.
