Her previous attempt at capturing a Vlidean had not gone as smoothly as she’d wanted to, granted none of her previous attempts had been very fruitful as of yet. However, Xenosa was determined that today was going to be the day that she got one of the birds. She eyed them all, picking the youngest and the most flamboyant one she could find. This one would be hers, she was certain of it. If she caught the bird she would be more than ecstatic. Especially if she brought one back that was so young, hopefully training would go well because she didn’t have much time to spar. Some of her work was backed up because of communication issues and she just didn’t want to deal with lost information. Xenosa also knew no other animal that would fit the bill as perfectly as the Vlidean.
So she tried to find another way to climb up and sneak about to get her net around the Vlidean. She was far more successful this time as the net hit its target to keep it grounded and the others scattered about as she threw daggers at any who got close. Xenosa could not believe it, she’d caught her target even though it was as angry as a Diabi dragon. They were all very angry and getting even more agitated with her, but at this point she didn't care, because she had caught herself a Vlidean! It was about time too! Xenosa was seriously reconsidering her prowess and how smart she was. No one had ever evaded her like these birds did, which only had fueled her need for one. Now there was a large smile on her face and she could simply not stop smiling. Xen felt like she could take on the next step now.

The bird glared at her and tried to inch away every time Xenosa tried to get close to it, goddess forbid if she took off the net it would be the end of her for sure. She’d thankfully brought a backpack full of items, mainly food to see if she could possibly tame it. She decided to start by throwing a few scraps of meat at it, which it gobbled up quickly. This was the only way she knew to care for something so vicious, kind of like trying to fend off orphaned children who were violent. Give them food, coax them, and you could pretty much use them for whatever you might need. In fact Xenosa remembered using children as a way to distract targets or large groups of people, they didn’t talk unless threatened and that was only if you could actually manage to snag one of the little buggers.
The other birds had settled to watch her, interested by the food she was throwing out to the other. Each time she threw a piece of meat out she could almost feel every single one of their eyes move with it and then return to her to watch her again. One of the braver Vlideans even swooped down to grab a piece she’d thrown and quickly returned with the rest with the meat in its beak. A few others tried to grab it from him but he’d swallowed it up so quickly the whole thing ended up in a petty dispute. After an hour of feeding it bits and pieces, Xenosa finally grew courageous enough to throw the net off its back and backed away promptly just in case it decided to attack. It drew a large breath and squawked at her before flying away out of her reach.
