The snows were beginning to melt and everything was turning green again. Though he had been bent on learning everything he could about camouflaging himself into the background, Drako's artistry was already beginning to seep away into the ground - without snow, his camouflaged hide didn't exactly work very well to hide him. Hidden behind a deep pile of snow (there must have been a bush there once), the colt sighed and looked around. It was cold enough that even the birds and the squirrels had given up on watching him curiously. Though he had his father's coat, he couldn't find any trees that matched it; while Betula had birches, Drako did not know what the name of his trees were. That was another thing he would have to find out one day.
Getting to his feet, Drako shook the caked snow from his knees. The crunchy powder was the same color as his fur, though it stained parts of it darker gray with dampness. If he wasn't careful, he'd get stained with dirt, too, and then he would have an even harder time blending in. But then again... Spring was coming, and everything would turn to mud soon anyway, right? Overjoyed by the notion that he would be able to find new camouflage soon, Drako nearly bounced as he trotted over to the nearby stream. Though he dipped his head to take a drink, he kept his eyes trained on the world around him - before everything else, his parents had taught him, constant vigilance.

Cinis reared up on her hind legs nibbling at the tips of frozen branches. Careful not to take to many from one tree or to many in one area of any tree. She for one would be glad to see spring it was tiring eating frozen twigs, and bitter bark all the time. Grant it regalia had spiced it up a but with the pumpkins halfway through the winter but he only had so many and she didn't want to be greedy. Her thoughts occupied she reached up to nibble at a branch that was particularly laden with snow (something she had been avoiding doing all day as she had been specifically warned out getting buried alive) and ended up having it all come down on her. WHUMP The semi melted snow was heavier than expected and she found herself unable to do much more than wiggle. "HELP! Baba Yaga HELP!! You were right!"she shouted. The fact she couldn't even wiggle now made her panic. The snow felt like it was getting heavier by the minuet. She could have swore she felt more coming down on top of her. (Which of course it wasn't) "HEELLP anyone!" She shouted with just her little black nose and mouth sticking out.

Just about to stick his tongue into the icy, refreshing water, Drako heard a sound nearby and leapt behind the nearest tree. It had been some kind of stressed creak, like the trees gave in heavy winds, followed by a sound that seemed, at least to Drako, reminiscent of the noise he had made when he'd run into a bush hidden by a blanket of snow earlier in the day. Like a woosh, but also a thud muffled by the impact of something soft.
That was when the shouting started. The echo of it across snow and ice was so clamorous that Drako laid his ears back against his skull to protect his sensitive hearing. "Pipe down!" he called, making his way over to the talking pile of snow. A small black muzzle was sticking out of it, yelling things about something called Baba Yaga. To Drako, it sounded like nonsense, or perhaps a name. Curious, he pawed the snow off of the little head that the muzzle belonged to, surprised to see a face not unlike his own. He brushed her little black and tan ears free of snow and laid down opposite her. While he had her here, he might as well question her. His need to know things was starting to boil up again. "What's Baba Yaga?" he asked, tilting his head a little as he said it. His bangs flopped into his eyes, and he hurriedly flicked them away, the better to gauge the truth in the filly's answer, and if she had any reason to lie. His parents had trained him well - to see the honest truth, and to detect when someone was hiding a secret from him.
"And why are you out here by yourself?" he added. "Aren't your parents worried that something like this would happen?" He gestured with a hoof toward the pile of snow that surrounded her. "What's your name?" It was a lot of questions, but Drako was sure she could handle them. Foals were multi-taskers, or so he'd been told. He'd also been told that they had one-track minds, though. Whether it was one or the other or somehow both, he would have to find out on his own. How long it would take... Well, that was really up to the filly, wasn't it?
Grinning at her, Drako reached out and began to brush tiny bits of snow off of her shoulder. It wasn't enough to make a difference, but it was probably enough to be frustrating. "I'll help you get out of there if you answer my questions," he finished, hoping the incentive would be enough. Of course, he had to let her out eventually, and the snow would melt from her body heat... But maybe she didn't know that. His siblings had pulled a similar prank on him once, and it had lasted for hours until he had realized that the snow had melted enough for him to move a looooong time before. His parents had said he was lucky not to get frostbite.
Well... he thought, pondering the relentlessness of his questions. I won't keep her in there for hours like Banyan and Kali... Maybe a few minutes, tops. He didn't know her, and if her parents came looking for her... Well, he'd probably get more than a whap on the rump.

Cinis being apprenticed to Baba Yaga for over a year now had not really had much interaction with soq her own age. In fact most of her time was spent being stone silent (she had learned that quickly) while baba taught her things or off doing errands for her. So his barrage of questions took her a little off guard. Her ears laid back in confusion for a moment before she decided to cooperate. It wasn't as if she was getting out on her own anytime soon. She remembered playing 20 questions with her family while she was still with them perhaps this was similar. Maybe it would be fun? "Fine. Ill play. But later i get to ask some questions of you. anyway First off Baba Yaga is not a what she's a who. A old wise mare with talons like razors and a iron beak who lives in a shack in the deepest darkest parts of the forest." She replied trying to sound spooky. The trees around them creaked in the breeze as if on que as she paused. "I am Cinis bearer of the phoenix her apprentice and destined for great things. I left my parents to begin my apprenticeship a long time ago. I mostly take care of myself now." She stated puffing up her chest. She looked proud but a skilled eye could see beyond that mask of pride was loneliness. She was still just a filly after all. It was only once she had finished speaking she noticed He was looking at her really intensely. like he was looking for something. Like when yaga would quiz her. She turned her head away. Afraid he would find what he was looking for. "Is that all? It's kind of cold in here. " She asked her tone a tad somber.
