Gormlaith stood off stage with the other contestants. She looked down at Kobold and gave him a blank stare. If anyone knew her they would have known that stare was more of a glare. She then sighed and turned. “Remember the routine.... and try for once to not mess things up.” She said. She wore a light feathery dress that was white that faded to black at the bottom and had a very faint red web design throughout to compliment Kobold. Once more she turned as one of the attendants came up to her. “It’s time for you to go to the wings. You’re up next.” Gormlaith nodded and began to move. Kobold followed after doing his best to keep up.
In the wings Gormlaith took a deep breath and put on a smile. “Time to shine Kobold. Don’t let me down.” She whispered. “Please welcome Gormlaith Baines and her pokemon Kobold!” An announcer called out. Gormlaith and Kobold walked out onto the stage and to the middle of it. Gorm waved to the crowd and smiled. Kobold did his best to not stumble or to have his inching appear weird. However there were still some chuckles and snickers. Apparently people didn’t think a Larvesta could be a show pokemon.
Gormlaith fought to keep a scowl off her face and instead looked down at Kobold. “Time to fly and dance! Show them all the truth of a Larvesta!” She called out loudly enough for all to hear. Kobold gave a small nod and inched away from his trainer. Then fire spouted from his horns and he began to lift up off the stage. Soon he was soaring around flying through the sky. While he was spinning around he began to shoot string all over making a giant shape that hung in the middle of the air. There were stings all the way up to the ceiling of the performance area and all the way down to the stage itself. He weaved between the strings he had made all the while shooting more. He had to be careful to not have any of the flames shooting from his horns touch the string otherwise it would set the whole thing on fire.
“Kobold! I don’t think they can see, they don’t understand! Shine some light for them!” Gormlaith called after several minutes. By this time the string outline would be done. Different flames shot from Kobold’s horns this time, blue flames of a will-o-wisp. They went to certain points of the sting figure and stuck to it. Before it could light the whole thing on fire a shining wall of light wrapped around each will-o-wisp flame. Still the crowd didn’t see or maybe they didn’t understand. Gormlaith didn’t see why they couldn’t. But she didn’t get much time to think about it as it was time to do the next part. Kobold covered himself in a light screen and managed to hover before the glowing dot-to-dot outline. He then lit himself on fire. This was to represent when a Larvesta evolves. He slowly began to descend and soon was on the ground. When he landed the light screen around him broke releasing the flames covering him in a giant whoosh! The fire hit the strings; something that wasn’t supposed to happen. The fire spread along the string and when it hit the first light screen, the light screen broke releasing the blue flames. It continued to spread until there was only a flaming outline of what the string had formed. The crowd went ‘oooohhh’ and ‘aaawwww’ as they saw the string figure was that of a Volcarona.
However Gormlaith was not happy about the results as it had not been planned but she acted as if it was. After all it did show the evolution of a Larvesta which is what she wanted. The crowd didn’t know that it was the will-o-wisp flames that were supposed to catch the string on fire, not Kobold’s flames. She waved to the crowd as she stood next to Kobold. The poor Larvesta was looking up at the burning string in near horror knowing he had messed up. The crowd applauded as the last of the string burned up leaving only ash on the stage. Gormlaith gave a curtsy and Kobold did his best to bow. Then they walked offstage so the stage could be cleaned for whoever was next.
