Checking the small crib where her baby girl lay sleeping Erionda glanced over towards the side window. The storm outside while fierce wasn't enough to stop her from a deep ingrained need to hunt. Battling ran deep within her blood, ingrained in the very fiber of her being. It made her feel alive, safe, useful. When fighting she felt most at home. Not that her family didn't give her a welcome feeling, but there was always something calling to her when hunting.
Pulling the side of the crib up so her daughter wouldn't be able to roll out during the night Erionda took a step back. "Lanzecki, since you complain about the cold the most, perhaps I'll leave you here to babysit. I need someone to alert me if something happens around here. I'll return in a flash. Right now, I
need to hunt." Erionda stressed the point as she moved towards the door mentally asking or Uassae to join her.
"Fine, fine." Lanzecki replied in an upbeat chirp. He wasn't the least bit upset about being left behind to watch over Lilith. He was never a fan of the cold and made sure Erionda knew it too. Complaining as soon as he could at the very mention of going outside. And while the barn she had built was somewhat warm because of all the bodies in it. It was nothing compared to the soft floor of Lilith's warm room.
Licking his tongue pleasurably, Uassae poked his head into the room. Making sure to speak across the bond so he wouldn't wake up the sleeping infant.
Hunting today? Are we going up into the mountains? We really haven't been there in so long I was wondering if you had lost your desire for hunting. He teased her lightly as he waited briefly at the door before turning to head down the stairs.
With a smile Erionda turned to give Lanzecki a pat on the head. Thanking him for watching over her child as she slipped quietly from the room. Brushing her hand against the wall as she swiftly skittered down the steps towards the main floor of the house. Her gear was messily set up in the entrance near the door for easy access.
Tugging her gear into place and strapping her sword and shield on her back Erionda turned to nod to Uassae. "A good hunt will do wonders for us, don't you think?" Stretching to give her muscles the chance to shift and move Erionda opened the door and stepped out into the frozen world of Aisko.
A small shiver ran across her spine. While Aisko was cold, her affinity to the Aiskala magic allowed her a considerable tolerance to the chilling world she lived in. Closing her eyes and breathing deep, filling her lungs, cleared the stale air from them. She resisted the urge to cough and started her walk through the snow. Listening to the soft crunch of tiny ice crystals under her feet, this world thrilled her. She felt free.
"Hop on. I want to hunt in the mountains today."
Erionda smiled at Uassae, pausing her progress to wait for her companion to move up beside her and lower his wings and belly to the ground. Kicking her left leg over Uassae's back she found her usual seat. Laughing when Uassae hardly waited for her to sit before he was running over the snow. Together they shared a feeling of freedom, escape from that was now considered their life. Towards what they shared for enjoyment.
Bare hands extended away from her body. Feeling the wind rush about her fingers. As if the very cold air rushing past her was sucking the stress from her body. Refreshing the life within her. It was obvious Uassae not only felt the same emotions but wanted to share and enhance them. His speed picked up and he moved up mountain.
Closing her eyes Erionda found herself happily falling into a trance like state. Focusing on the wind around her, as well as the ripple of Uassae's muscles as he moved. Yelping when Uassae came to an abrupt stop, nearly sending her tumbling forward.
"What is-"
"What are they? Their huge!" Uassae blurted staring down at large insect like creatures. "They look disgusting!"
Erionda couldn't agree more. The largest was as big as the dragons she fought on a regular basis. Kicking off of Uassae's back Erionda pulled out her sword. Gripping it tightly in her dominant hand. Her mismatched eyes staring aggressively at the beasts. They too seemed to be staring back just as aggressively. Probably a match of power, Erionda thought.
Her muscled tensed as the first and smaller one came rushing at her. It's pincers within striking distance. Aware a move was being made Erionda back flipped. Her hands only barely making contact with the snow, her feet scuffing backwards on the surface. Correcting her grip on the hilt of her sword, and pulling the base of her imprinted weapon up to her face with the sharp end of her sword pointing outward.
It was hard to tell just how fast her feet moved, her blade moving towards the first of the creatures. Flinching when it grabbed hold of her imprinted weapon and threw her skyward.
Trying to control her body in the air Erionda twisted as she was flung behind the group. A large tail like abdomen threatening to squash her to the ground. Running forward under the smaller of the creatures her blade left an opening cut in it's wake. A strange toxic smell fell to the ground around her.
Her lungs felt like they were burning. Clutching her chest Erionda had just enough time to dodge the pincers of another attack. Leaping into the air her blade blocked a strike at her arm. Sending her skidding back several feet. Stunned at the force of the smaller creature, Erionda almost missed as the queen jumped at her from above her jaw open and ready for a killing strike.
Dropping her jaw Erionda quickly rolled to the side as an attack landed where she once stood. Then back as another came falling down. Something connected with her middle sending her flying backwards. Catching the ground with her hands Erionda corrected her course with another back flip.
A magic circle around her feet activated as ice sprang to life around her imprinted weapon. Running forward her sword swung connecting strike after strike against the insect like creatures bodies. Until only the large queen stood. Dodging another attack Erionda's two sets of wings burst into action. Lifting her into the sky only for a moment, just long enough to attach herself to the insect queens back. Moving forward every time her foot touched solid ground her magic would help lock her in place freezing her feet to the insects hide until she was on it's head. Diving her sword downward Erionda yelped as the creature rolled onto it's back. Dislodging her from the attack. Gathering her up in it's Jaws Erionda created two more magical circled as spears of ice impaled the queens body.
Pulling herself away, Erionda's breath came short and fast. Reaching for her blade she drove it into the head of the queen. Her eyes wide in astonishment as a strange liquid surrounded her weapon and was absorbed into it. Pulling it out Erionda searched the blade with her fingers. It didn't seem to have been harmed in any way.
