The winter months has proven to be quite the nightmare of a time. Snow had come and gone in several storms but that nasty chill in the air still remained. It was the kind that could make you cold even when wrapped in the warmest of sweaters.
That was what made today so wonderful. It was one of those rare winter days when the sun was shining brightly and the wind wasn't blowing that strongly. In fact, one did not need a full winter coat today.
So lovely was it that Delilah was walking today towards the Carrington's home humming to herself. As she came up, the girl knocked on the front door. She hadn't told Hannah she was coming over but with the nice weather, she wanted to take a walk. Maybe Hannah would come with her. They hadn't been to the swings in the park in ages after all.

Hannah had been sitting on the couch in the living room watching Disney's Tangled wrapped up in a dark brown fleece blanket still in her purple and green pajama's when she heard a soft knock on the front door. "I GOT IT" She hollered to her parents. Hitting pause on the DVD player remote, the periwinkle haired girl got up, sliding her feet into her fuzzy slippers before walking across the hardwood hallway floor to see who was there. First unlocking the deadbolt then the handle, Hannah twisted the knob and opened the door just a crack to see who was there. "Hello?...Delilah! Hi!" Seeing her raven haired friend standing outside she quickly opened the door all the way and stepped aside so she come inside. "I didn't know you were coming over. Come in, come in! Is everything okay?"

Delilah didn't have to wait long as she turned her head around from looking at the front yard towards the clicking dead bolt. Smiling as she heard Hannah's hesitant hello, the raven haired girl stepped inside.
"Oh everything's good." She responded, pulling off the scarf that was around her neck as she looked at Hannah's pjs. "Movie day?" She smirked pointing down at the fuzzy slippers before trying to look into the house for any other signs of life. "I don't blame you but I was coming to find out if you wanted to take a walk with me. I'm going stir crazy in the house."
After spending so much time studying lately and stay in out of the cold, she might have had a touch of cabin fever. "It's warmer today than it has been and I was just going to head over to the old park we used to spend weekends at as a kid. I hear they finally fixed the swings."

Once Delilah was inside, Hannah closed the door and re-locked the deadbolt "Haha, yeah. Today seemed like a good lazy day." Even with it being a beautiful day outside, she just needed a day to get some rest and relaxation without the burden of school, homework, or thinking for that matter. "Though I would love to go on a walk with you. Let me just run upstairs and get changed and tell mom! Mi casa es su casa." Hannah winked at Delilah before taking off upstairs. No she did not know spanish, but there were enough movies out there which used that saying for her to know what it meant. My house is your house. It took a few minutes but once she was ready - dark blue jeans, white turtle neck, black long-sleeved droopy necked shirt. Cyan scarf in hand, Hannah dug around the coat closet by the front door for her white suede button down coat. "Mom gave the go-ahead just to call if we plan on making our own plans for dinner."Pulling her coat on she turned to Delilah "Shall we?"

The Spanish as she ran off made Delilah roll her eyes. Yep. Movie day it was.
Sneaking farther inside, Delilah looked around at how the were using the old furniture she knew so well to decorate the new house. It was warm and inviting, just like the family living in it. Though what really made her smile was a photo of them as kids that she noticed in the mix of some family images.
Before she could reach out for it, Hannah's voice made her turn. Walking back towards her friend, she worked the door open and offered the girl her arm. "Wonderful! Well then, shall we? The world waits for us to make it a better place." Delilah chuckled as she stepped outside before the heat could really get out of the house. Though the moment she did, her hands were going up to wrap her gold scarf around her neck. Yep, still too cold to go without.
"What were you watching anyway? Something fun?"

Making sure to grab her house keys off the hook, Hannah linked her arm through Delilah's "We shall!" she replied "That it does." she added following her friend outside - only stopping for a brief moment to lock the door behind them. There was so much good the two of them could do together especially now that they were both senshi. Side by side, Hannah let Delilah lead the way to the park. Though the destination was known, the path was not which was half the fun of going on a walk. "I was watching Tangled, such a good movie, plus the music is amazing"
And at last I see the light♪♫♫ And it's like the fog has lifted♫ And at last I see the light♫♪♪ And it's like the sky is new♪ And it's warm and real and bright♪ And the world has somehow shifted♫ All at once everything looks different♪ Now that I see you♪♫♪ Hannah smiled at her friend, unable to help herself when it came to singing the chorus to her favorite song in the movie "Sorry. Any who what have you been up to, I haven't heard from you in a few days." She figured that her raven haired friend had been bush with school work and didn't want to bother her too much since they had a tendency of going on tangents once they got on the phone.

Leading the way, Delilah had made up her mind to take the round-about path instead of the direct. Not only did it give them girl time but one never knew what they would find going a different way. Maybe something special. Maybe nothing. That was always the fun thing.
Though as Hannah broke out into song, Delilah had to cast the girl a look out of the corner of her eye. It was just in fun as to say 'really' but the smile betrayed her. "Though I think I might prefer the healing song. Have you ever considered singing that when you are out and about?" She knew making a reference to their other lives was dangerous but unless they started calling each other Phact and Acrucis, she did not see the harm in a little jest.
But the mention of things going on lately had Delilah's shoulders sag. "Midterms are coming up and you know my father." Blowing up her chest, Delilah released Hannah's arm and turned around. In a false, deep voice, the girl mocked "Now young lady, how do you expect to get anywhere in life without a good education? I'm not paying your college education for you to just get an M-R-S."
Dropping it with a smile, Delilah couldn't help but laugh. "Just doesn't want me to end up like his sister, Aunt Kathy. But what about you? More than movies I hope. Else I'm in for it today with the sing alongs."

"Nah, I don't sing around anyone but you unless I'm in church. Can you imagine the kind of looks people would give me if I started singing that while we waiting for it to finish?" 'It' being the yellow light portion of her renew ability. Talking in round about ways while not powered up while in public was amusing at times but she knew Delilah knew what she was talking about. "But don't worry I've been doing more than just watching movies. Aside from the periodic hospital visits I have two presentations, one group project and a midterm test due sometime next week. I have everything done except for the group project."Hannah's expression turned into one of those annoyed disapproving half smiles when Delilah repeated what her father had apparently told her. He wasn't a bad man just had very strong opinions on things such as her friends future. "Have you considered looking into fashion scholarships? Or double majoring, using your electives to fulfill the requirements of the second degree?"

"I can and I think it would be a great distraction from the pain. Their faces going ow ow what the heck?" She smiled back at Hannah in reference to the look she had seen before. If the girl's hair would glow instead of her hands, Delilah would have given her no choice but to sing. Besides, it would have been a great way to just have people confused afterwards.
Yet at the mention of group projects, Delilah visibly shivered. "I still hate that they make us do group projects. Someone in them always fails to carry their weight..."
Slowly she smiled and nodded. "I have but it's hard. Most want a sample of your work and a portfolio as well. Between school, the timeline I have quickly approaching and then my night job, I haven't been able to focus and get anything worthy of submitting." In all honesty, she hadn't had much time to do anything on her fashion work. A few quick drawings but nothing to the detail she would like. And sewing them? She was lucky she had been able to fix a few buttons...
Taking a different turn, Delilah walked them past an old house they had come across years ago as kids. Stopping for a second, she looked towards it and smiled. "You know, I wonder if this place was really haunted?"

Hannah paused next to Delilah for a few moments in front of the abandoned house. Boarded up windows and shattered glass littered the facade. Wood rot evident on the siding while the heavily moss covered roof caved in various places. The yard was littered with overgrown plants and dandelion weeds which were fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, no longer in full fluff mode. It was a wonder why the house still remained despite the painfully obvious neglect and the fact it was in no way shape or form inhabitable. "I haven't a clue, but with all the stories floating around about spirits or ghosts haunting the hallways and or bedrooms, I'm not surprised it's gone neglected for so long. Definitely seems to have done a good job at keeping potential buyers at bay."Giving Delilah's arm a light squeeze Hannah tilted her head, motioning for them to keep walking. So busy, I don't know how you manage to make time for me. Hannah thought, a bit guilty for taking up so much of her friends valuable spare time. How she managed to have any sort of social life between, school, work, senshi responsibilities, family, and sleep was beyond her but somehow she managed it. "How is work going? You don't talk about it all that much, everything going okay?"

"I have to wonder if anyone even really wants to sell it. Or if they even know who the owners are." Delilah rambled before she felt Hannah squeeze her arm. The pressure made her look up and over at the girl before a soft smile crossed her face.
"Work is work. I go out, do my job and try to get back in before it gets too late or too cold right now." She sighed leaning her head down to bop it on the side of her friend. It was Hannah and the 'job' she was worried about. The girl needed to keep her strength up and not do anything foolish. "It's you I am concerned about. The more people who find out about your talents...
Delilah's voice cut off as a cry chilled the already cool air. It was sad, high pitched, and sounded like something was in pain. But as quickly as it came, it was gone.
Red eyes looked toward the house as she picked her head up. "Did you hear that?" She asked in worry before another cry came on the wind.

To be completely honest she had no idea who the owners were, for as long as she could remember the house had always been vacant. Though she was happy to hear that things were going okay work wise for her friend. As it was the periwinkle haired girl didn't have a job, more so for medical reasons as well as getting caught up in school, and thus couldn't quite relate to the hours and tedious tasks; but she did sympathize with the long hours. Hannah's eyebrows knitted when Delilah abruptly stopped talking and fell silent. "No" she replied with a hesitant shake of her head. Unfortunately her attention had been fully on her friend at the time that she was pretty oblivious to anything else. Then again this could just be Delilah trying to scare her with all this talk of a seemingly haunted house... and to be completely honest it was working. "Why? What did you hear?" she questioned with a suspicious tone in her voice.

Delilah was silent for a moment, listening to the movements and the sounds. It was something that came with the pen she guessed. She had trained herself to mentally multitask. While it was straining, he could help save her life one day.
"I'm not really sure. It sounded like a..." She stopped as the whine happened again. "Like that." She responded, pointing up into the open air as a cry of pain echoed once more. The look made her glance down at Hannah. "Something is off"

”Okay, that’s enough. You’re really starting to spook me out now.” Fear ran up Hannah’s spine leaving in its wake a trail of goose bumps. Without meaning to her arm tightened around Delilah’s. She had heard it, the sound that is, though with it being light outside she knew powering up was not an option and pursuing the sound would be very unwise… ”We can’t go in there Delilah.”She didn’t for a moment miss the alert look on her friends face. She was thinking of going in there… a house that has been abandoned for how long? Oh the number of things that could go horribly wrong. ”We should call for help or something. Unless we power up there is nothing we can do. Delilah… ’ she tugged the raven haired girls arm to get her attention and in a hushed voice added ”We can’t power up… what if someone sees us?”

"Then we do it the old fashion way." Delilah said as she looked back at Hannah and reached over with her free arm to squeeze one of her hands. "As human girls who get into trouble and have cell phones to call for help as needed." She whispered and turned to hug her sister.
Her eyes went back towards the house. "But call it the dang double life or just my own gut, I need to make sure whatever it is is okay. But if you are worried, I'll go alone and if I'm not back in an hour, call for help? Would that be okay?"
Delilah gave her a smile that was warm. It was different in a way. She was surprised Hannah was so scared. Maybe at Halloween she should remember this. But for now, she would not sleep that night if she didn't at least try.
