*Personality:
Yumi is a bit of a quiet girl and doesn't open up her personality except to her friends. When she is determined about something or sets a goal she'll die trying to reach that goal. Yumi isn't the brightest tack in the world which is why she was submissive to her sister, Krista. Krista was the smarted of the two but Yumi was the stronger one.

*Bio:
Yumi and Krista were accidents to their mother Abigail. Abigail was of pure German descent and being a pure decent was rare. Those who were of pure descent were looked up upon as well as considered valuable. Men looked at her while other females would envy her. She had beauty, wealth, popularity, as well as her pure descent. Abigail would often flaunt herself around with the boys to get attention. She thought she could anything and anyone she wanted being the spoiled girl she was. The young German girl would flirt with many but only had eyes for one type of boy: a wealthy, purebred. Luckily, living in the Inner District made it more easy to find a wealthy lad but as for purebred it was not. Just about everyone to her was a filthy mutt until she came across Gale Asayami when she was taking a casual stroll.
Gale was a boy belonging to a well-known wealthy family who was a few years older than Abigail. He was also half Japanese which Abigail really liked. The two liked each other instantly and began dating. Her parents refused to let her marry believing that she is too young so in retaliation she would often either sneak over to Gale's place or vice-versa where they would show their love for each other.
Abigail was no more than 16 when she became pregnant with her two girls and the father, Gale, was not pleased. Both knew that they would be in extreme trouble and neither of them wanted to deal with it. Gale instantly broke up with Abigail and the next day committed suicide so he would not have to face the responsibilities of facing his mistakes. Abigail, on the other hand, could not bring herself to commit such a thing and tried to have an abortion. Since Humanity needed all the people it could have doctors would never allow abortions. She could not bring herself to drink finding the substances disgusting so she had to keep the baby.
When her family found out they sent her away so she would not disgrace the family. She was given a small amount of money and sent to live behind Wall Rose as well as forbidden to take over the family's fortune. Abigail hated her life. She couldn't flirt with anyone because of her stomach and she couldn't have what she wanted with what little money her parents gave her. Her life went from paradise to trash in a matter of a few weeks. She gave birth to two healthy baby girls and when she heard there were two of them she became furious. With two children that meant less time for herself and it also meant that the money her parents gave her wouldn't be enough since it was only meant to sustain her and one child. So, Abigail had to get a job.
Abigail became a night worker as the children became 10, which is when the funds from Abigail's parents ran out. Abigail would be gone for hours always with a different man and when she was actually home she would drink and curse at the two girls calling them mistakes and saying that they destroyed her life.
Krista and Yumi always looked out for each other. They were always together, hand in hand. If someone would pick on one the other would defend. Krista acted more as a lead than Yumi did and would often decide what the two would do.
After the break in Wall Maria, with more refugees resting behind the walls of Wall Rose, Abigail began bringing work home. The men she brought home were often obnoxious and mean to the two twins so when their mother brought a friend over the two girls would often hide.
Krista, being the more bold of the two, suggested they run away and join the military, upon turning 11, so they could leave their broken home and fight to save Humanity. Being scared of such a path in life Yumi declined and decided to stay in the broken home.
Years passed and the home was just a place of Hell. Yumi didn't mind it though because she would always receive and send letters to her sister, Krista. Those letters brought comfort to Yumi as well as love. Krista would always send pictures of her and her comrades in the Survey Corps and would ask for pictures of Yumi in return. Krista would compliment the pictures saying that Yumi has grown up to become a beautiful girl. The other twin would always tell tales of her journey and much more.
One day the letters stopped coming and Yumi began getting worried. The last she heard from her sister is that she's going outside the walls and won't be able to write for a bit. Then the day came when there was an announcement where the Survey Corps will be coming back. Yumi ran to the streets as the line of hurt soldiers came in and Yumi desperately searched for her sister. Upon looking a soldier stopped and approached Yumi. Yumi instantly recognized him as one of Krista's comrades that was usually in all of the pictures that Krista sent. The male had a distraught look on his face as he held what was left of his right arm as he looked down at his comrade's twin sister. He told her, in full detail, what had happened to Krista. Yumi could have done without with the details but those details will forever stick in her mind. Yumi began crying seeing that her only friend and family (that she considered) was gone. The male handed Yumi a silver key necklace that was covered in blood and tells her that it was given to Krista by a secret admirer. The soldier then explained that Krista had a fascination with locks and Keys that she discovered in boot camp. That necklace was cleaned and worn constantly by Yumi from then on.
After morning Yumi became depressed. She wouldn't eat nor drink and her health began to wither while her mother kept inviting clients over. She stayed depressed until she got slapped in the face by a soldier in the Garrison who seemed concern for her health. The soldier got pissed after Yumi told him the story of what had happened. He told her that she should use the pain and turn it into determination and join the military. Yumi thought about what the soldier had told her and upon the 6th anniversary of her sister leaving for the military, Yumi left home and went to join.
