The little god lived many lives over countless years but no one ,god or mortal, would guess with the way the god carried him self. Van could possibly be described as one of the more unjaded gods, or beings, out there. He'd lived countless carefree lives and each one had been better than the last. The gods heart was pure and full of love for all he came across. Van just loved everything for the most part.

However, this was the first life in which he could focus long enough to recall that he had lived many lives. Maybe innocence was getting that old that his reincarnation was just starting to learn how to suppress his power from affecting him self. Maybe it had been the fact he pretty much was raised away from the haven. His journey in life had been his own and the god of innocence had met many faces along the way.

But there were four faces he remembered from the life before this one. Van had taken a mortal lioness as his wife, but had been unable to stay with her or the three cubs that he sired. It had been one fateful night when Van left the den on the hunt for his family that some one else had hunted down Van instead and claimed his life. The creature had been lion but the night had been dark and the face was a blur.

But a killers face was not one that Van cared to remember. He cared to remember his two sons and daughter. The god knew they were still alive and well, he could feel their essence in his heart. Sadly, the same could not be said for his dear wife. But Van knew she lived a full life before making her way to the heavens so all was well.

But the past was not what had the great god of innocence flying high over head. He sought out only one. The god of peace.

"LIIIIIIIIIII!!!" He called out as he swooped through the clouds playfully. Being serious was never one of Van's strong suits. Perhaps why he'd been so easily killed in many of his lives before this.

It was so rare that anyone called on his name. There were mortals who sought him, mortals that wished to gain his blessing, mortals that sung about lands of peace and times of peace, great beasts of peace and those who had died in the name of peace. There were always these things and he felt them, more than heard them. Some were quite sad, others almost bittersweet. They were common enough and rarely stirred him from his slumber or troubled him during his journeys from land to land.

However, he had never met a god who openly called for him. Maua was always there, she never had to call him. If he strayed from her side, she found him. There was also Mut, but he never called on peace. He simply arrived to defend it with his massive bulk and his fierce nature. Gods had mocked him for his stature and weakness, some even just ignored him outright. But...one was calling for him.

The god lifted his head, his eyes heavy. At present, he laid beside Maua as she slumbered as well. Both had traveled for so long and had run so far, looking for answers to the questions that troubled peace itself.

He glanced over to her as he rose, silent as a whisper, and gently stepped away. Smiling softly, he turned and took to the air. Where most gods flew on wings, Li ran across clouds that seemed to collect around his paws and hooves at his will. His golden mane flew behind him like a king's banner and his scales shone like a hoard of gems. The rush of simply running through the sky blossomed into a wide smile and and eager gallop forward.

In short order, he heard the actual voice on the wind. Maua's words of caution whispered in the back of his mind. This god could be hostile, he could even be out for his life. Maua wasn't far- if this god proved to be an enemy he could likely make it back. Peace wasn't powerful nor particularly wise in battle, but it was a swift thing that could come and go on a breeze.

"I'm here!" He called out, privately curious how this god knew his given name.

And there before was peace. Innocence gave the smaller god a wide smile.

"Thank you friend for coming!" He could have wrapped his paws around li if the kirin like god and alicorn lion god hadn't been up so high. In all honesty the god of innocence wasn't always the most coordinated. Even he knew this and wouldn't risk falling for a simple hug.

Oh wait.. now that the two were up here this was awkward. Van didn't want to ask 'soooo how is life...' kind of small talk. His face fidgeted in to a number of thoughtful expressions as he looked for just what it was he wanted the god of peace for.

KIDS. YES.

"MY KIDS!" The god remembered. "My.. Hrm..... Li. As you may or may not know it is I Van god of the innocent. And i have been reborn." Van twirled around, "TA-DAH!" He bowed his head, "But that is not important. I sired three cub seers."

The god of innocence looked at Li quite seriously.

The smaller god stood on a whiff of cloud the same way one might stand perched on a boulder or a small outcropping. Often times he would simply hover in such a way, standing on a cloud while he watched the world below. Drifting in mid-air was effortless. He had once envied the winged ones, wishing for a feathery pair of his own but it seemed that it would require far more energy. Running was familiar, and running on the air itself took so little effort on his part. There was no shock of flesh and bone against the solid ground, no uncertainty of dips in the ground or uneven footholds. In the air, it was true, unbridled freedom.

He watched, and listened, in complete confusion as the god explained, sort of, his purpose for calling him. As he explained himself, Li's expression went from curious to apologetically confused. The smile remained, but his eyes were completely lost, unable to recognize this individual or follow why such information was crucial enough for him to know.

"I apologize... Van? I... have we met?" He tilted his head slightly. "This is the first time I recall having ever met you."

"WHAT?" Van looked taken aback by this. "But awwwwwwwwwww..... Really? Maybe it is..... No wait... I don't know." The god talked like this for a good minute trying to figure out what was going on. Van was not dumb but some times things took a moment to click.

Reincarnation. There had been lives lived where Van had not known he'd lived others. Gods died and were reborn quite commonly. There were also cases where gods gave their immortality to a mortal. Perhaps this was not the same lion he'd known long ago.

Disappointment shown on the god of innocence face quite blatantly.

"Well still. You are the god of peace, are you not?" His ears went back. "There is something.. I left here. Three children seers that I would love for you to guide. They will be full grown by now I am sure. But.... I ask for your guidance for my children."

Van knew this was probably out of the blue for the both of them. But...

This lion was out of his gourd.

Li hovered in place, smiling warmly but his face was contorted with obvious confusion and something akin to sympathy. Perhaps they had known at one point in their past lives, perhaps not. Maybe he looked like someone that this god had known before, perhaps not. It was hard to say. Li understood mortals and their ways far better than he could ever know the ways of the gods. It was a sad statement...maybe it would change.

Then something clicked. Li's eyes went wide. Find three seers-

"Oh...gods." How did Sammy know?! Or...how did Van know? Was this a set-up? The timing seemed horribly perfect all things considered. Maybe things just worked out that way- or maybe it was in fact karma working for a good cause. He didn't know.

"I'm sorry I just... I've not been the same since I died last," Wow was that a strange statement, "You have three children? Seers? I...actually, that's what I- well we - are looking for!"

Van could have done a loopy loop in the air, but refrained.

"YES!" He replied. "Yes! I have three seer children. I have not seen them since .. my previous life, but I have three. All are well from what I can tell. They will all end up in your path I am sure of it." Van heaved a heavy breath of relief.

"I'm so glad. So glad you understand Li. " Van had no idea that the two gods were actually looking for seers. He had this feeling that for some reason Li needed to be in his children's lives but he had no idea why. Van had failed his cubs as a father by dying but he was sure that Li would take good care of his seer cubs.

He could have melted in relief at that. Their journey was over. The search was done. Soon they could get the kingdom founded and return to their duties. The tug of their callings had been put on hold. Sammy would be able to get back to his duties, at least for a time.

He shook his head, unwilling to get his hopes up just yet. The seers would need to be presented to the two others, and approved. After that, they would have to be trained, tested, then sent out into the world. It would be a long road, but it would end well. At least he could hope it would...still. The children of innocence! He couldn't ask for a better set up.

"I... I don't understand fully," He admitted. "Why...won't you raise them? Look after them? Did they do something to disappoint you?"

Van gave the god of peace a very sad look.

"I died and failed them when they were just cubs." Van confessed. "I don't feel like I am worthy to raise them now that they are adults. They grew up with out me in their lives and its probably best that they continue with out me. I am no father." Van sighed.

"I also think they have purposes much greater than to be reconnected to me. I feel I also probably need to continue on with this life and not focus on my previous."

Van gave Li a sad smile.

"But don't think that I don't love them. I do. That is why I ask the god of peace to consider my children candidates for what ever you need seers for."

The small god grew somber. For being as young in appearance as he was, for a moment he looked almost ancient. The playful, almost naive expression faded into something almost kingly. There was a hint of disappointment and a distant sadness to his eyes as well. He knew well what it was like to not know a father. Even as a mortal, in an adopted family, there had been no fatherly figure in his life. Mut was as close to a father as he had but courage was a god of few words and even fewer appearances.

"I will look after them. But I have a condition-" He held up a claw. "You visit them. Let them know that they were not left to my care out of lack of want. I couldn't do that to them."

Vans ears went back. He could see the change in expression in Li's face and felt the weight of his request. Van did not understand why the god of peace would as such of him but he was sure that the god of peace had a good reason. The alicorn lion god looked thoughtful for a moment. Li had not requested something huge of him.

Finally, Van's head dipped down, and he gave his answer.

"I will visit them." He finally concluded. It was a fair trade and all in all Van did want to see his kids again. He just hoped that they didn't hate him for failing them as a father.

"Thank you kind god of peace." He gave Li a jolly grin. "I will uphold my end of the deal. Call for me when the time is right and I will come." His wings beat the air and the god rose a bit higher in to the clouds. "I'll be seeing you some time soon Li! Take good care of my kids!"
PostPosted: Mon Jan 13, 2014 10:56 pm

Li's somber expression faded as quickly as it had placed itself on his face. His ears relaxed and his eyes softened. The children would see their father then. It wasn't his place to tell them of their father's fate. That job belonged only to the father. Perhaps he would never tell them, perhaps they would never actually know, but at least they would have some exposure to them.

He glanced up, watching as Van ascended higher into the sky.

Oh wait-

"Van!" He galloped after the god, pushing clouds under his form to rise higher and higher. "Where are they?"

Oh yeah.... Where were they. That was something he forgot to give the kirin like god. The god held his breath for a second in thought.

"Uh." He managed. "I feel like they are ..h mmmm.... where are they...." He closed his eyes and concentrated on his heart and memories. Where would they be again?

"You will find the three have made their home near the mountain where gods dwell in a cavern. It shouldn't be to hard to find. There is a large water fall and behind the water fall you will find a den." Van took a breath. "I have to be honest though. There is no guarantee that the three are still there. That is where me and their mother made our home. I have a feeling that the cubs probably never strayed too far. At least in my heart. It was our families little haven." Van looked sadly at the god of peace.

"If they are not there I feel they will find you. I feel like their visions will guide them to you if you enter their place of child hood. I am sorry Li that is the best I've got. I just started to remember things." He looked very sad.

Near the mountain of the gods? In a cave near a waterfall... it sounded like the Mistwalkers but to his knowledge, no god had taken up residence there. Not permanently anyway. It must have been the gods haven. A tremble of fear coursed over his small body as he turned in the direction of the mountain. He had never gone there before, and with good reason. He feared his own kind as much as most mortals feared them. They were alien to him, and the haven was not a place he had ever set paw or hoof.

Swallowing his discomfort, he turned back to Van. "Very well. My journey continues. Thank you, friend."

With that, he whirled about on his hooves, horn and scales flashing in the light. He sprang from his current cloud and shot downward, nearly free-falling back the way he had come. The god's haven then... Mkodi keep us...
