As I don't dress loli at this time, I don't have anything to contribute -- but I thought it would be interesting to create a thread wherein one could talk about some of their experiences while dressed loli. Like, your parents'/friends' reactions, people on the street, store clerks, etc. 3nodding

I most certainly have. When I say 'lolita' on a website, they immediately think of the Spanish word for 'young whore' and think that I'm so sex-addicted little girl wanting an old man. It's sooo gross! When I go out dressed lolita, many old men stare which is -very- unpleasant. One time I was dolled-up and I had my hello kitty back on and this old man barked at it! I was so freaked out I latched on to my friend and stayed very, very, very close to her.

Haven't.. really.. gotten the chance to put an outfit together.. I have lots of pictures of dressed and stuff on my wall. My parents don't like them.. so I think I know what their reaction would be if I wore a lolita dress and went out in public. Which, hopefully, I will one day!

Yeah. I'm super worried about the reaction I'll get if (when) I ever dress loli in public. (though, obviously I"m not worried about old men barking at me). I'm just super scared of wearing like ...a skirt for instance... in public. Even stuff like top hats and suitcoats would be pretty scary....
I kinda want to do it sometime when I won't be seen by people I live with ... you know? (like ...not at school)...>.<
I've sorta dressed that way on halloween, but that doesn't really count. It was super funny though. This one old lady told me I had "very nice legs"... I'm not sure what that means.... It's still not as creepy as old guys leering at you girls.... *shiver*
It's so embarassing to share a gender with those guys... They seriously give us a bad name... stressed

My parents don't like them.. so I think I know what their reaction would be if I wore a lolita dress and went out in public. Which, hopefully, I will one day! I don't have those problems, my mom loves my clothes and my dad thinks they're cute. My mom is just tired of taking me into thrift stores because the ones around here are creepy and going into a thrift store makes my mom nervous so she prefers me to make my own stuff and tries to get me the stuff I like from Angelic Pretty and such. <3 She says that if she had the figure for the clothes I wear she'd wear them to! And Murasaki, why not dress in male loli stuff first? See how they react, continue to wear the stuff, and eventually people will get used to it, and once you notice them getting used to it, that's when you do a bit of crossdressing.. that's my advice to you. You can never be truely lolita if you're scared to dress lolita. I have respect for you already, but I'll look up to you (as I'm sure everyone else younger than you here will too) and have everlasting respect for you if you dress the way you want without fear of people. People can't do anything to you other than not like you, but it doesn't matter if they don't like you, because you've got us here, we can be your support. smile Oki, enough cheesy-ness. razz <33 <3 Bunny

Yes, like you I haven't actually put an outfit together but my parents aren't too fond of my interest in "strange fashion".

I have worn Gothic lolita, Punk Lolita, and the experience was very interesting. Oh man, the stares i got... LOL I was dressed Punk lolita with my Black ruffle skirt, Putumayo Punk Lolita Girl Jacket, No Future Winter Hat, and my Platform Boots from Hot Topic. I guess that explains everything (^^; i was getting on the bus for Port Authority to head to NYC and the bus driver looks at me like he has never seen a person in Punk Fashion ever before. Plus, every person that passed me in the bus stared at me like i was a new kind of human out there. it's pretty funny when you actually think about it in the long run. plus i'm used to getting stares because i unfortunately go to a very ghetto school and if i dress with my punk look of short skirt over pants thing, i always get stares and such. It's fun in a way though.

Um, yeah I don't always dress up like some of you guys do, but when I do oh ho ho the looks I get. I got spat at once, but I was only in my school uniform - god knows what that was about ^___^

I think I receive better reactions when I dress lolita than when I dress like a "goth," to be honest. As a lolita most people find me adorably cute and ask for me to pose for pictures. ... Lucky, maybe?
To only time I've felt uncomfortable as a lolita was when I look remarkably like a French maid... Too many horny little boys, I tell you...

I've never actually worn authentic Lolita clothing in public because I have none, but I have worn some stuff before that resembles it n.n; My mom is fine with what I wear as long as there are no spikes or skulls - she doesn't really like the fact that most of it's black, but I tend to match it up with either pink or white so that kind pacifies her - and my dad is fine with it as long as the skirts aren't too short X3 As for reactions, I either get stared at or hit on ._.;

Da_Mido and if i dress with my punk look of short skirt over pants thing, i always get stares and such. I wore a skirt over pants in Junior High and I ended up starting a trend - preppy girls included, the trend is still in motion at my high school (but apparently the 80s are 'in'). I wish I got hit on by young hot guys. I always get hit on by gangster black guys (not racist, just saying) and perverted old men. Brenli As a lolita most people find me adorably cute and ask for me to pose for pictures. ... Lucky, maybe? I get alot of compliments on my outfit by girls around the mall and at school, they think I look adorable, too, but I'm never asked to pose for pictures. I always thought it was a cultural difference, maybe it's just an Oklahoma thing? You know, in Japan people ask for pictures, and in many other places people ask for pictures, but in Oklahoma... you're insane if you want to take a picture of someone because you like their outfit, needless to say, no Okies will ask -anyone- for their picture inless the person's a football player or country singer. -.-;
