All was still as the white wolf stocked silently through the forest. Phantom sniffed the air alert for any change that signaled prey. With the onset of winter prey had become worryingly short. While it wasn't an issue for him, he was able to eat plants and berries even if it wasn't his preferred food, Spirit required meat. He had left the pup at their current den, they moved around a lot, before heading out. He missed having a defined territory but as a lone wolf found it unpractical to try and keep one.
His large ears twitched as a sudden sound reached them and he frozen trying to make out what it was. A toothy grin crossed his face as the scent of rabbit reached him. He stepped lightly as he made his way towards the scent. If there was one good thing about this time of year it was that he didn't stand out as much as he did during the rest of the year.
He stopped and sniffed the air again, no scent of any soquili, good, with luck the rabbit wasn't anyone's familiar. If there was one thing he would never do it would be to kill someone's familiar, he knew to well what it was like to lose someone you cared about and would do everything he could to make sure he wasn't responsible for doing it to someone else. Satisfied he continued to pick his way through the forest towards the scent.
He came to a stop behind a fallen tree, the rabbit in sight. Fangs glittered in the light coming from between the branches of the trees as he smirked. The rabbit was still unaware of his presence. He crouched down and began to make his way out from behind the tree, adrenaline racing through his veins.

Emerald eyes gleamed out from the snow covered bushes, dark fur blending into the dark bark. Surrender Black saw the movement before she scented it. The small boar scuffing his nose into the nose, unearthing what little frozen grass was left behind before the frost. Now his scent filled her nose and sending her heart into overdrive. Oh, how she loved the thrill of the chase.. the hunt.. the kill.
It wasn't until she was almost on the animal that she caught another scent and wrinkled her nose before testing the air again. And sure enough, another soquili was just at the border of their lands. But this smell was somehow different from the other regular soquili she'd met. This had a note of something those in her family shared. And it perplexed her.
Her entertainment for the evening took notice of her and darted away, squeeling loudly and alerting those in the area of the protroling danger. Darn it! Looks like she had another agenda for the day. Seeking this new stranger out. ((sorry it took so long.. I haven't been feeling so well lately..))

Phantom was on the rabbit before it realized he was there. With a quiet snap he broke its neck, he wasn't the type to make his prey suffer. Walking back over to the fallen tree he laid the rabbit down on it. Looking the rabbit over he sighed, it would barley be a snack for him but it should make a nice meal for his little pup. If he recalled correctly he had passed a berry bush that still had a decent amount of berries on it, while not his favorite it would do for his dinner.
Picking the rabbit up he grinned around it, he was rather proud of the fact he had managed a clean kill. He had found it was ridiculously hard to get blood out of white fur. Taking a step he froze as a loud squealing echoed through the forest. His ears swiveled around trying to pinpoint where the sound was coming from.
He blinked as a shape rushed past him. Was that a boar? Something had spooked it enough that it hadn't even noticed him. His grin slipped off his face and his ears laid back. Taking a deep breath through his nose he scented the air but was unable to smell anything other then the rabbit. He didn't dare lay it down again, if what had frightened the boar was a skinwalker his only choice would be to run, fighting wasn't an option as long as he had Spirit to care for. But what if it was another like him? Even then it could still end in a fight. He had long since given up on finding a pack but to talk to a fellow wolf, even for a short time, was it wroth the risk? He hesitated frozen in place.

The smell only got stronger as she crept through the brush, the leaves crunching under her hooves. A shape slowly came into view and she narrowed her eyes. Another wolfish equine. What was he doing here? Hunting on the border of her families territory...
The fur on her back bristled as her eyes focused on the blood staining his white coat. The rabbit laying frozen still at his hooves, then back up at him. At least he seemed like a good enough hunter, she hated wasting her time with the useless and it appeared he was at least capable. And would probably scent her soon enough. Stepping from the trees, she made herself known. "You.. What are you doing here?" she called out towards him, her fluffy tail raised as she slowly stepped closer.

Phantom turned his head slowly and laid the rabbit across his back before giving the mare his full attention. He was carful to keep his tail in a none threating position and to avoid direct eye contact. He had found that females were the most dangerous of all wolves and didn't wish to start a fight if it could be avoided. "I was hunting," he said hesitantly not sure what kind of answer she was looking for. "I was unaware this area was claimed, I meant no disrespect Miss." The snow had most likely washed away any sent markings in the surrounding area he figured as he had not noticed any sign of the place being inhabited by anything bigger then the boar that had run by.

Surrender nodded at his claim. Obviously he'd been hunting. The rabbit he had with him was a testament to that. But seeing as the prey hadn't been touched, except for a couple minor scraps, it was as if he was keeping it for someone else. But, she'd ignore it. She rarely ever wandered this far on the fringe anyway. But she wouldn't tell HIM that.
"I guess I can believe that.." she answered, grinning. Her hunters gaze sweeping over his body's stance for a moment before she moved closer to him. He certainly seemed like a bright male, and one that didn't want conflict. "You can look at me.. I won't bite you." chuckling, Surrender allowed herseld to relax a fraction, but still staying on guard. "Unless you bite me first."
