User ImageLet's be frank for a moment. To say that Kumi was a good hunter would be a gross overestimation of his abilities. Really, more often than not he was just plain lucky. Damnably lucky, actually, in a lot of things, really. Clever, sure, that probably helped get him out of most of the scrapes he got into. But cleverness only got you so far when questing for a meal.
Still, somehow he managed, as if some poor, stupid, benevolent god was forever watching out for him. Which, in all fairness, might just possibly be the case. One never knew with the gods, after all.

The antelope wasn't all that much, it was small enough for him to drag, but big enough that the two of them could probably get a decent meal out of it. He'd rested and kept an eye out while Fel... Fea... Feli, that was it, while Feli slept. He didn't sleep all that much, too much energy. Not to mention... Well, dreams just aren't terribly friendly to the haunted, now are they?
Once his paws had felt well enough, the fatigue having drifted out of his limbs, he had left her in search of food.
And of course thinking nothing of how she would react should she wake upi to find herself alone. Just not one of those thoughts that would cross a mind like his.

The scattering of trees that had marked their resting spot was in sight now and he dragged with renewed fervor, eager to get back to the shade and set into the kill. Sure, the sun was starting to make its way towards the horizon and the night promised to be cool and wonderful, but he had just run down an antelope. Good exercise, but any exercise was tiring.

Sleep had been just what the lioness needed after the travels. Felallt did not stir when the 'doctor' wandered off to find food. She laid there at ease in her dreams.

Some time after the doctor was long on his way in to the hunt was when Felallt softly stirred. Slowly her eyes opened to find her self in a very different spot than where she usually slept. Her head lifted to look around at this new setting as her memory slowly jogged back to her.

Oh right. She was on a journey with a male deemed the doctor. But where was he?

Felallt yawned.

Maybe he'd had second thoughts. Her brow twitched in annoyance. How rude was that to leave her behind after asking her to come with him? Oh she could feel the anger work its way back.

Well then. Fine. She'd find him.

But how?

Tracks?

Yeah that might work. There were some lion shaped tracks that seemed fresh enough. Though feint, she'd be able to track them. Felallt usually did this with prey, but she could find a lion if she needed to. Well she hoped these were his tracks at least, other wise she was making a fool of her self.

"Doctor!?" She called as she tracked only to regret it. If it was true that he was leaving her behind it probably wouldn't be a good idea to call out his name and alert him to her presence.

Kumi's ears perked at the sound of Feli calling out for him, For a moment, his heart lurched and terror briefly consumed him. She wasn't in trouble, he had to force himself to rationalize that, to solidify the fact in his mind. She didn't sound like she was in trouble, so she wasn't in trouble. She was under his guidance now, which meant it was his duty to keep her safe as well as show her adventures. She. Wasn't. In. Trouble.

He came across her following his tracks, one eyebrow rising and he let the antelope's neck fall from his jaws.
"Don't shout, you'll attract buzzards," he admonished, tilting his head as he wondered why on earth she was tracking him. He had told he he'd be going to get food once he'd rested up, hadn't he? Yes, he was sure of it!

At first Felallt's ears went back a bit unsure if she'd done something wrong. Shout?

No wait. Wait a moment.

"You can't expect me to wake up alone and not wonder where you went." She nodded, mostly to her self, that her point was valid. "I thought you might have left me behind or something after all..."

It was really refreshing to see he had with him food though. He'd gone to hunt. But how was she supposed to know that?

Kumi blinked at her for a moment. She'd thought... But he'd told her exactly what he had planned to do. Rest, eat, resume. Obviously, she had forgotten.
He shook his head in a slightly exasperated way.

"Always the same with you lot, jumping to conclusions. I did say we would eat after resting," he replied, picked up the neck of the carcass again and resumed dragging it back to their spot. Buzzards saw well, if the kill was less visible from the sky, they'd be less likely to be bothered... At least, that was his way of thinking.

"Sorry."

She hadn't meant to think the worst of this stranger. But usually if some one was gone the next morning... This one was odd though. Feli coudln't place him anywhere in a category. The doctor was just.... well, strange and a little moody.

"Thank you for hunting. Uh.. You didn't have to hunt on you're own. I'm pretty handy with tooth and claw." It was partly true at least. She was still a young adult and had her mishaps but living with her mother , the both of them had to hunt in order to eat.

Felallt hurried to grab a leg and help carry the beast's body back.

Kumi didn't speak again until they were back in the shade. He couldn't, of course, not without dropping the kill again. And what he would have to say could wait.
Once they were back to the spot, and his mouth wasn't full, he had to pause. What was it that he was going to say? His mind flicked back to what she had said. Sorry, thanks, hunting one his- Ah, that was it.

"Yes, but you were sleeping and I'd rather not get my nose bit off trying to wake a sleeping female," he replied with a shrug and sat down. He continued, waving one paw as if the whole thing didn't matter. "Either way, it's done, over with, come and eat so we can get going again."

He was eager to be on the move again, had felt the twinge in his paws. Even... back then, he hadn't been able to keep still. He had to move, had to go, had to see anything and everything for himself. Even if things hadn't happened the way they had, he probably would have taken off, gone exploring. It was in his blood.

Ignoring the comment about sleeping females, the doctor was quite amusing. Felallt could not hid the smile she had hearing him talk.

"You're not one for sitting still very long hmmm." She sat down and looked him over. She was excited to see the ocean too but not as rushed. Gingerly the female leaned down to start eating. She ate quickly but not so fast that she was sloppy. All the while the lioness watched this doctor.

Only after she was done eating did she speak again.

"I know we've only just met but don't assume I'll bite your nose off just because I'm a female." She smirked. "I'm ready when you are."

"No, never have been. Not sure why anyone would want to be when there's so much out there." But, then, most weren't like him. Most seemed to want comfort, normalcy, and security. Honestly, he wasn't sure which of the two were worse, normalcy or the unknown. He'd take the unknown any day. At least with the unexpected, you were always a little bit prepared for things to go wrong. It was so much worse when you weren't expecting it.

He joined her in finally eating the kill, conversation dwindling to nonexistence in less than a heartbeat. Not good to talk with one's mouth full.

Kumi glanced up when she had finished, one eyebrow raised.
"In my experience, potential loss of nose is by far the lightest consequence for interrupting a lady's beauty rest," he replied and took a moment to clean his maw. She was amusing, Feli, a pretty lioness, small, but with a bite of her own. He'd heard of a flower, the blooms small and delicate, but the plant itself covered in thorns. He'd have to try and remember what it was called, it certainly fit.

"Then let's go!" he said with an exuberance almost befitting a cub and finally stood. He started walking and considered this whole thing. He didn't have any plans for after they reached the sea. He wouldn't mind hanging around there for a little bit, not too long, of course. He'd thought of going to see some prides he'd heard about but he wasn't traveling alone anymore. It was only fair to ask what she might want to do, wasn't it? "After we reach the sea, is there anything you'd like to go see?"

Felallt looked thoughtful. Was there anything she wanted to see?

"You know... I'd really love to head to that bright as day cave. I have to see it for my own eyes before I believe a cubs tale like that." She gave him a smug teasing grin.

Yes. It was a bout time the two headed out. Felallt couldn't wait to see just what wonders the world had to offer.
