The old mag will be cancelled and replaced by a new one, called Warhammer Visions, which will be around 230 pages each month.

White Dwarf will be changing from monthly to weekly, meaning releases will be spread across the space of a month rather than all at once. The change will mean army updates will now start with the codex/armybook with a few new releases (kit Re-do's) on the first week and bigger or newer kits the second week. With the hobbit releases on the third week and other releases on the fourth though how pre-orders will work is still yet to be seen. White dwarf will be smaller with about just 34 pages and prices will also drop to about £2.40 in the UK per weekly issue. All hobby related articles except painting guides on the new releases will be removed. The new monthly magazine will focus on just 40k and fantasy hobby like modeling, painting, converting etc.. This will be bigger than the current white dwarf but will also be around £7.50 UK price. This will feature things like army on parade and army of the month style displays aswell as hobby tips, conversions, paint schemes and much more. This means people can just buy the issues that feature products they are interested in rather than a whole white dwarf, and those who prefer the hobby side can buy a magazine just dedicated to hobby rather than advertisements. The anouncement is set to be this saturday, with the new style of magazines starting from the first of February. So what do you think about Games Workshop bringing back proper hobby articles and releasing things weekly again?

Let's start off with a barrage of off-the-wall questions, as with all rumors!

-How does that compare with the length of current WD mags?
-What's the difference in content going to be? What goes and what's new?
-What's the fate of existing WD vouchers?
-When's this supposed to happen?
-How much is it supposed to cost?
-Is it all Cruddace's fault?
-Will there be a glamour section? dramallama

Wow, just wow. Talk about the end of an era. emo

But if this is true, it is probably for the best, as the current generation magazine is nothing like it used to be and perhaps a complete restart is what they need most of all.

That sounds..... nice? :/

GW?
All hobby related articles except painting guides on the new releases will be removed.

Then what´s the point?
Now it´s just even less of an hobby-magazine and more of a advertisement catalogue. gonk

GW?
All hobby related articles.....will be removed......
The new monthly magazine will focus on just 40k and fantasy hobby like modeling, painting, converting etc.....

Wait, it has hobby related articles or doesn´t have hobby related articles?
Make up your mind GW.... -.-"

GW?
This will be bigger than the current white dwarf but will also be around £7.50 UK price.

Only about 136 pages divided by 4 weeks and in actuality is £9.60/4, £2.10 expensive then the WD monthly.
And wait, how is it bigger if it´s by weekly and and same price as the old WD with £2.40 price-tag?
Do you even know what your selling? @.@

GW?
So what do you think about Games Workshop bringing back proper hobby articles and releasing things weekly again?

Considering what you did to WD the last time you "updated",
which didn´t changes it´s status-quo at all (other then Blanche),
I expect this to be total disappoiment and failure as well.
At least something is consistent with GW now a days.... -.-

Why even have the weekly mag at all if it's just going to be a pure ad catalog?

Couldn't that just be the "new releases" section on the website?

Talked to the store guys at Warhammer World yesterday, and they said this should be taking effect February 1st. Current subscription holders will get their subs transferred to Warhammer Visions (which should be the better deal, since that's the bigger mag). He also said the subscription holders might be getting something special when it crosses over.

Not what I expected at all, what I do expect is a severe dip in subscriptions as many will probably cancel theirs. I know I would, it is an insulting substitute for the White Dwarf.

Damn Games Workshop print publication ********, what the hell is wrong with y'all? Why can't you make a hobby magazine, with actual demos of painting techniques, conversion and terrain tutorials, unbiased battle reports, by both the in-house players and those submitted by readers, and maybe a small section of new releases?

Honestly, I'd like to read something more like Model Railroader (I used to read those when my dad was starting to build an N scale layout).

Oh wow, that's depressing. I was actually going to hop out to the store this weekend (tomorrow) and pick up a copy of each, but now... I kinda want to hawk off our remaining subscription vouchers. From that review, I didn't see a single body of text worth reading, literally nothing but captions. In triplicate. There were more words in the store registry than the rest of the mag combined. And if it's going to be eye-candy, at least let it be good eye-candy! I don't want to see the same model on two pages side by side, let alone with that horrid graphic design. Ugh. I don't really know what else to say, except I hope they pull their head out of their a** after the reaction to this first printing.

From the editor:

Thanks for your email and your feedback. We've worked hard to being a great breadth of features in the new White Dwarf – in a given a week you can expect details on the latest releases, editorial columns, painting guides, modelling features, gaming articles, new rules, interviews with sculptors and writers, and more besides. We'll also be featuring Battle Reports and other things too – in a given month, it all adds up to much, much more content that that touches all aspects of the hobby than we were able to achieve in one issue of the 'old' White Dwarf. I hope you stick with us to see this.
Warhammer: Visions is not for everybody, granted. If you like gaming more than collecting or painting, then it's probably not for you, and that's fine. You don't have to buy it! It's for people that like to drool over high-quality photos of gorgeously-painted miniatures, and it's the result of a lot of hard work by our photographers and design team – we're really pleased with it and from the feedback we've already had, the people that really like it are the people we're aiming it at.
Change is always a tricky thing, especially, when it comes with associated costs. But I hope you'll give both the new White Dwarf and Warhammer: Visions another chance in the future.
All the best and thanks again for your email,
