She'd brought her own self, sniffing at the ground and looking for some place to stay. What she'd found was a pack--herd?--of stars in the desert forming a little settlement. Another hound had been there; he belonged to one of the leaders of this pack. As it turned out, the other leader of the pack wanted someone to keep an eye on the other hound. That was a duty that Magnitte liked very much. So she followed Mosenth everywhere he went every day, tracking him down. The both of them were hounds, with noses just as good as each other's, so they were well-matched. She enjoyed it. It was a job. It was a way to get praise. It was an excuse to chase something and track it down. I am hound, fear my nose!

But today, Mosenth didn't seem to be up to anything. Disappointing. Magnitte found herself wandering around the Hieratic's territory, occasionally making a mad dash back to the Pharaoh's space to check up on her target. Nope. Still no movement. Sigh. So now she was wandering around the temple quarter, having just checked up on him again. Magnitte was starting to get annoyed. Having nothing to do was unpleasant in the extreme. Even having someone to talk to would be nice! But no, everyone was busy.

Or were they? She hadn't even bothered to see if anyone would talk to her. There were bound to be people nearby. Admittedly, they would mostly be priests, who were supposed to be too busy, but she could still check. Thus she found herself outside of one of the temples, one of the ones to a cat goddess or something. She had nothing against cats. Some dogs did, but Magnitte had never seen the reason for that. Instead, she peered inside to see who was there.

User Image"You have a visitor High Priest," Ramla spoke softly.

A larger catlike mare emerged from the temple after biding good bye the high priest, the two seemed to resemble each other Ramla regarded Maggnite as she passed this was the comander's dog and faithful servant. She was strong and clever if she recalled. The High Priestess of Bast wondered briefly what such a warrior would be doing in a temple dedicated to the goddess Sekhmet. She did not believe in the gods that ruled their world, she had come from outside the herd not cultured in their ways.

Perhaps though she wished to learn? Regardless Ramla had her own temple and duties to attend to as much as she was glad to see her brother get a decent rank in this hierarchy where men have a hard time the black queen. She gave Maggnite a light bow of her head an began her return to her temple which was not too far off.

User ImageThough Ramla was partially a mutant with her ears and could hear quite well Minkah had acquired the full ability of their father, who had been a lion alcor. His however was a liger a strange hybrid of both lion and tiger and quite powerful for a feline. Minkah replied with a nod of his head as he too bid his sister farewell before. Standing in front of the altar and paying his respects as His sister left.

"Come in then," Minkah called to the mare who was peaking into the temple. His jewelry clattered as he moved the offering's into place. "Welcome This is the temple of Sekhmet, the lioness goddess." Minkah finally turning around after finishing tidying the altar. Minkah regarded his visitor in much the same way his sister did. They were quite related after all.

His feline tail flicked back and forth contently "I am the High Priest of Sekhmet Minkah, can I help you?"

Oooo, right, there were two kitty gods. Supposedly there was a dog god, too, the Pharaoh's favorite. Not that Magnitte wanted to boast. Well, maybe a little. But this was the temple for one of the cats, and she had to show her respect. "I've never been in one of the temples before," she said. Her tail wagged slowly, nervously, as she glanced around the walls. They depicted stars with the heads of lions--or rather, one star with the head of a lion, feasting on enemies, wrestling serpents, fun stuff. The pictures were quite pretty. For that matter, so was the priest. There weren't a lot of stallions in this herd, but even if there had been a lot, Magnitte had to say that he was the nicest looking one. And the nicest smelling. There was some incense and some perfume, sure, but he also smelled like a wild animal. Like a lion, in fact. No wonder he was a priest for the lion goddess.

"I'm Magnitte," she added. "And I'm kind of new here, so I'm not all that familiar with the gods. Oh! Maybe you could tell me about yours? I mean, if you have time and I'm not disturbing you or anything. Don't want to get the goddess angry at me." Magnitte smiled at Minkah and wagged her tail. Look before she leaped? Nah, Maggy never did that. No guts, no glory. If you weren't willing to take risks, you'd never make friends, you'd never encounter new smells, and you'd never get to know what happened if you sat on a skunk (smelly stuff!). Not that talking to the priest was like sitting on a skunk or anything, but hey, an adventure is an adventure, and Magnitte was tired of feeling like a stranger in her herd.

It was the "Then let me welcome you once again to the temple of the goddess Sekhmet, Magnitte." The stallion then smiled warmly. "I would gladly tell you about my goddess." As he got a better look at Magnitte he realized she was the General's messenger. He'd seen her around doing errands for Morrigan as Mosenth did them for the Pharaoh.

"This way." he bade the wolfish? mare to the altar as she seemed to examine the tapestries depicting Sekhmet. The priest shifted into his Liger form and stat in front of the altar. "What would you like to learn first?"

He reached for some of the papyrus scrolls, and unraveled them, it was easier with paws than in his starborn form. He was pleased to see she was genuinely curious about the gods the herd worshiped. Set being the most prominent. He was surprised that she hadn't gone to that temple first though.

"Thanks for talking to me, sir," she said. Magnitte followed the priest--Minkah, right?--further into the temple.
There were even nicer wall hangings here, and she was starting to get the sense of this lion goddess. There seemed to be a lot of smiting going on in the art, as well as some fights with a pretty gnarly serpent.
So probably some kind of war goddess. The snake--snakes were a little intimidating, was it fear then? Most religious stuff was really symbolic.
You couldn't just assume that a picture of a snake was just about a snake, it always had to be something like fear or night time or something like that. Magnitte was almost too distracted thinking about that to notice the priest change shape in front of her.

She tilted her head and marveled at his form. He was an enormous cat, big like that dragon she'd met in the swamp. Well, of course she'd known he was an alcor, and a cat, but to know he was such a big one...well, it was another thing to know. He looked really pretty that way, almost as pretty as he'd looked as a Star. But anyway.

"Uh, I guess I should start with the goddess's name. And what she's the goddess of. And what's the snake? It's not actually a snake, is it? Why are there two cat goddesses? Sorry about that last question, kinda offensive, but I'm just curious because I kinda mixed them up this morning when I came here. Mixed up my cats. Very embarrassing, even for a hound." She ducked her head. "Sorry." She knew she could prattle on and annoy people. There was a reason she was a servant and not a companion.
