Demon sat beside the river that trickled from the peek of the mountain down to the small lake. He was fascinated by the flow and ebb of thing, how it was constantly changing, constantly adapting... and for the most part he felt an extreme affinity towards it, as if they were kindred spirits. His life had been anything but smooth, but instead had meandered and weaved through the fabric of space and time before converging at the present. It had created who he was today but it had also changed him. He wasn't the same as he once was... for one thing he was starting to feel rather old, not as old as his old man of course, but old enough to feel that perhaps it was time... time to ensure his legacy lived on long as he met his final challenge. For Demon had no doubts that he would die in battle, finally face a challenge he simply couldn't win.... but not today, today was not his day to die.
Hell flapped his annoying wings, he knew it was the bat.... and although he would never admit to a growing fondness towards the familiar, he was oddly glad for his presence. Even at times like this when he sought out solitude.
"What brings you here Hell?" There was always a reason why the creature disturbed him, he rarely sought him out for his company alone, though they would sometimes leave home together in the morning and return together in the eve.
Hell flapped his wings and raced towards his master, he had seen something... wrong and out of place... and knew that Demon would want to know immediately! He would not make a mistake and become lax, he wouldn't fail Demon! The God deserved only the best and the most faithful of followers.....
"Yes M'lord! I have grave news... the birds are disturbed on the other side of the mountain! I followed their paths and found a bark coloured creature approaching. Kalona lord. I think he is Kalona." Hell wasn't all that clear on breeds, especially with Phury and Payne hanging around believing they were full-breed Kalona's... to him they looked like Usdia.... but what did he know? He would never dare speak out against the mistresses though, they were still bigger than him no matter how you looked at it."A trespasser!" He growled, pulling himself to his four hooves in one swift motion before turning to face Hell.
"Lead the way Hell. Lead the way."What would a kalona be doing here? Some had come looking for fame and fortune, hoping to kill him and earn the honour in doing so... so far all had failed... then a stray thought occurred to him. He had just been considering his legacy, and leaving behind something unquestionable... could this be it? Could Kalona have granted him an opportunity? With that in mind he cooled his temper and took off to investigate what Hell had seen.
Sure enough he saw the other brown stallion before too long, and with a heavy stamp of hooves he landed.
"You've strayed far from home young one." He commented, his glowing eyes narrowing slightly as he took the creature in. The octopus-like tail wiggled behind him, the deadly looking spikes heralding the way to his rump, and his wings a very different style to his own. For two kalona's there were little similarities between them in terms of features, even their teeth were different.... but you never could judge a book by it's cover, and kalona's had so very many of them.
