xxEpitaph of a Corpse ____________________________________________________________ .. "An old book with many pages, much like the book of the red light, pages upon pages of blood and death" Chapter One The First Kill Time Frame? 10 YRS He was the kind of human who always persevered no matter what challenge was laid out in front of him
Since the young age of ten years Essui had been nothing but a truly rotten apple on the tree, he finally fell from the branches one fateful eve when he was being trialed by his superiors to see if he was worthy to join a group of raider cutthroats from the hills. He had hailed from a small village in the rice fields however he had never really belonged anyway, he sought refuge with the brigands and ne'erdowellers of the hills. They were skeptical of bringing in a boy as young as the ten year old Essui and so they tasked him with a particularly cruel task, something they said would prove his devotion and cut all his ties with anyone else he may wish to come back to. Raigoku the leader of these monsters had spoke to the young man, giving him the grisly mapping of their invasion on none other than his own village. The village Essui had hailed from was used to many raids and bandit attacks and so they had erected a giant wall of tree trunks to keep out any men of questionable character. His instructions were simple but also harsh, as it was more of a test of the conscience than of power and strength "All you have to do is go back to your home, have them open the gate for you, and then late that night find your way to the watch guard who commands the lever into the town, slay him and grant us access" the mission was clear. Despite his entire life being held inside those walls the young man agreed nonetheless ready to create a new much more gruesome path for himself, tired of being tasked with menial duties within the village.
The very next day he was sent to the large wooden fortress with nothing but the clothes on his back and a well disguised dagger tucked under his belt, the young boy had never killed a man before and he was both excited and mortified about what was to happen that night. The watch that morning was a young man the boy knew well, Seissitu, an excellent archer and a pure man by all means, only doing what was best for his young wife and baby. "Essui, you've returned home! We're all glad to have your return, please don't run off again you'll worry your parents sick!" he called out as he pulled the lever and the gate opened for the child, Essui moved in quickly before it slammed shut behind him, all that was left now was to wait. That day went by quickly, he could recall no sun falling so fast before but he welcomed it, anxious to begin his plot and gain acceptance to a new sort of life and brethren. Earlier that day he had met with his parents, went through the motions of apologizing to them, and stayed with them and his elder sister until midnight.
Once the moon was out he snaked quickly from his bed and left into the night, the small blade still safely nestled in his belt, hidden by his long tattered shirt. He was upon the wall in minutes, skulking quickly trying to find the guard on duty for the night shift, when he caught a glance of the man he felt something churn in his stomach as it was Seissitu the man who had welcomed him home so openly, however this feeling of guilt was quickly shaken, the man was a fool for being so trusting and that would be his downfall. As he edged closer to the man, scaling the wooden wall to the watch tower the man heard with keen ears, turning quickly to meet Essui with a blade to the throat once he had ascended completely. The young soldier gasped and shook his head "Essui you frightened me, I nearly sent your head rolling child!" he cried, and at the same moment he showed his ears weren't the only keen thing he held, his eyes caught sight of lit torches in the distance and he instantaneously drew his bow completely forgetting of the child who was now to his back. The man squinted attempting to make out the figures and affiliate them, not fully sure if they were friend or foe, however if they were sneaking in the dark he could hardly be sure they were friendly.
"Essui it isn't safe here, I need you to go on home no--" his speech cut short, the young boy had been tired of this oaf and his demeaning way of speaking, he acted as if Essui was still a toddler pissing and spitting all day long. The look in the mans eyes as the tanto entered his lower abdomen was that of complete astonishment, however it quickly changed to that of accusation and disgust, something that made the young child's blood boil hotter than the sun, people judging him for his actions were like cancer to him. "You traitorous child.. you were never one of us, even from birth..." the soldier moaned with shallow breaths, however his words were poison and Essui was tired of his rambling, he removed the tanto only to let it cut through flesh like butter time and time again, moans of pain soon silenced and only the sounds of crickets could be heard, and only the gathering of torches coming closer to the wall. "I'm not a child.. I'm a brother of Raigoku" he sneered at the lifeless husk before him, the dull look in the eyes showing no sign of a soul as Essui quickly made his way to the lever and began struggling with the power it took to pull the gates. After a small battle between the small boy and the giant gate he was able to open it enough to allow one bandit entrance at a time, the first to enter was Raigoku himself who came to the boy with a devilish grin on his face, he admired the child's work on Seissitu before patting him on the back. "Good work, now we set ablaze to these walls and sack this city for all it's worth!" he howled and as if on queue those who carried torches let them meet the large wooden wall, and with sheer number the small flames soon sparked into a wild ring of fire.
Screams echoed through the village as the mass slaughter was underway, the young Essui had done his job so he sat in wait instead of following the others, he was on his knees now examining the lifeless body before him, he had taken this world from another man, crushed all that he was and all he was going to become. He felt a surge of ecstasy from it, the most he'd ever felt alive was when he was taking the life force from another, his hands shook wishing to bloody the blade again however he couldn't move away, he was completely entranced by the corpse before him as if it wasn't real, he never knew he could feel this great about something, he had never truly felt alive during his ten years on this earth but all of that seemed to change in a simple twist of a blade. The flames around him as the village was razed was only adding to the effect, he could feel his blood literally burning his veins while at the same time he touched the wound of Seissitu whose blood was cold and flowing out ever so slowly now compared to the original gushing that had ensued after the first stabbing. He wasn't sure how long he sat there mesmorized but he was finally brought back to the real world when he felt a hand ruffle his hair, the burly elder man Raigoku had found him, giving a terrible grin to the boy who had made this all possible. "I have a gift for you, or more so a final task before you can truly become one of my brothers" he sounded off, as if he was positive there was no way Essui could complete this task, something about his tone spoke arrogance and it only made the young boy more determined to prove him wrong, sure he was young yet but he was not a coward, he would become a brother.
This so called gift was nothing of the sort, it was the kind of sickly thing that would make most lose their minds, however Essui was almost inhuman, something that was both a curse and a great power depending on the circumstances. Before him lay his family, his father, mother, and sister all giving him the same look he had received from the guard earlier, he could tell already they were disgusted by his actions and he was no longer any family to them. His mother and sister were red-faced from tears, and both were bruised heavily although not nearly as much as his father had been, he looked as if he was in so much pain death would be a release to him. "Our last trial is right in front of you kid, in order to prove to us you want to be a brother you have to cut all ties from your previous life, literally" Raigoku spoke as if he believed nobody as young as Essui would be able to slew his own family, his way of speech was as if he had already won and the young one would be joining his family and the rest of the villagers as a cold corpse. He vastly underestimated what the boy was capable of, and his will to survive, his new found lust for blood, it all made him stronger, more able to best the task at hand. He was the kind of human who always persevered no matter what challenge was laid out in front of him, even this particular one would find itself conquered by his will.
An axe was handed to the young boy, although they were a barbaric bunch they weren't about to have a kid slaughter his family with nothing but a tanto, they wanted to make it quick. Most doubted his ability to fulfill the task, they were foolish to think he wasn't ready, he had nothing else to go back to now, this was his only route. His resolve was intense and his family sensed it, even the bandits began to realize he wasn't going to stop now, he had made his decision the moment he slew his first man. He hoisted the axe with dull eyes, as if the events about to unfold weren't of any concern, and as he made his way to the first victim, his father. The axe came down quickly and the death was as painless as he possible could have made it. The same went for his mother, with each kill he felt rejuvinated, as if silencing others truly made him a more powerful person. The horrid men around him cheered him on and were howling anxiously by the time he had made it to his sister. As he brought the axe down to meet her skull the strangest thing had happened to him, a feeling he remembered even to this day, he had smiled, a twisted grisly smile of rejoice at the feeling of life dissipating from a body.
Chapter Two The Spice of Life Time Frame? 23 YRS He always felt the most serene rush when those close to him were taken out of the world by his own hands.
Much had changed in the thirteen years he had been apart of the bandit group led by Raigoku, many lives were taken, Essui stealing away his fair share, and the band was now notoriously known throughout Japan as a deadly bunch. Raiden, that was the new name given to them by the fearful, and not so surprising the name whispered in fear was none other than Gaikotsu, the skeleton man talked about and Essui were one in the same. Since becoming the most cruel and menacing member of the bandits he had also shaved his body completely of hair and had the most skilled members of his troupe ink his skin from head to toe into that of a menacing skeletal appearance. He even unsettled those he called his brothers, many of them had realized his sickly ways from the day he slaughtered his family, others just recently thought his actions were too barbaric even for them. The only true friendship he held still was that of his mentor Raigoku, the man in charge, Essui had come a long way from the gutter rat burdening the group, making a name for himself as the chief enforcer of the group and the one to carry out most murders and killings, and in the most horrific ways imaginable.
Tension had been high as of late, many shady doings were going about, much more than usual in the camp and it was making the killer Essui suspicious, he trusted no one here enough to believe he was safe. He could only tell one thing about the reasoning behind the sly men around him, he played a huge part in why they were acting so strangely and it only seemed to be getting more serious with each passing day. The mind of a murder is not as shrouded as one might think, Essui knew that everything happening around him was a result of his behavior and lack of empathy. He could tell that everyone would be turning on him soon, although this mattered very little to a man who had no ties or loyalties to anybody, perhaps he could finally exact revenge upon the men here for having him kill his own family when he was younger. They deserved a slow and painful death, every one of them for being traitorous and fickle, they couldn't handle the details behind being a murdering pillager it seemed when he was younger he misjudged just how dedicated they were.
It was that very night that he found himself snared by their wicked trap, even though he knew it was coming he didn't escape, or more so he didn't wish to escape, he wanted to face his foes with the same vigor he brought to every kill, he wanted to relish in the feeling of their decaying bodies. That was why when his name was called to an invitational meeting he did not decline or show suspicion, he accepted and followed obediently secretly waiting for his chance to strike the fools. "Muromi, the boss and the rest of the council of Raiden wish to speak to you, follow me" they masked his death so simply it was almost pathetic to hear, the lies were open and bland, he was being invited to his downfall, or so they thought but in reality he would be the one bringing down these goliaths tonight. Upon entering the pious circle of judgmental sinners he felt a renewed sense of justice, perhaps killing all of these evil men would gain him a chance to repent for all his sins and then maybe he could ascend to the heavens instead of being taken to hell by chains and claws. He didn't much feel like eternal damnation and torture, he would have to make sure in the afterlife he fought off any demons attempting to drag him downward, he would remain a wanderer on the ethereal plains of earth if need be.
Essui halted about half way to the meeting point, his fellow bandit stopping in tow with an uneasy look about him, as if he knew the skeletal man had caught on to what was happening, little did he know that Essui had always been one step ahead of their charade. His signature smile spread on his face, a twisted devilish thing which spoke true horrors, and the man before him was quick to draw his blade in retaliation to just a simple gesture. "If you've come to kill me, I hope you brought friends..." Essui words were barely finished before the spooked assassin made his move, however he was sloppy with a blade, not a veteran killer like the Gaikotsu of Raiden, the skeletal man drew a hidden tanto from his garbs and with quick movements both parried and assaulted his attacker. The man was left with a tanto in his heart and his blade in the hands of a new master, now armed with a katana he was more than ready to face the rest of his traitorous brethren, they would all reap the mistake they made together in hell.
Once he came upon the meeting all the seniors seemed on edge, his appearance with a weapon and minus one escort made them jump to the worst, and correct conclusion of his being there. Raigoku was seated furthest from where Essui had entered, his target was now guarded by six others all armed with swords and axes of different kin, however they were sorely mistaken if they believed this would stop him for he had more kills by his hands than the entire company combined and he planned to show them why that was his expertise. "I see you've realized our plans, we need to take you out of this world in order to keep spirits high" Raigoku spoke simply, he never was much for extravagance and it was something the skeletal man liked about him, still it almost hurt to be betrayed by ones only friend, although he knew that his mentor and brother was always a lying thief and he could never truly be trusted. Essui only nodded to his commander and unsheathed his blade, prompting the other members of the table to do the same, they were quick to jump to violence, just the way he liked it. "It's just death.. nothing serious... make it quick" the young man spoke simply to his old allies, although they all knew he did not plan to lie down so quietly, his blade was already in hand and the Gaikotsu of Raiden was no push over, they would have to come at him with all their might to stand a chance, and they would have to strike together as well.
Essui knew fully well he wouldn't make it out of this battle alive, but he planned to kill the seven men that surrounded him before he let out his final breath, he could promise that much. The others wasted no time in quelling him, or at least attempting to do so, the six men charged in unison, hoping they could dispose of the monster they had created. Essui was skilled with the blade but he was still human, with six people coming at him all at once little escape could be hoped for or made possible, he would have to take the brunt of the attack himself and do as much damage as possible while he could still move. As they all clashed he could feel swords ripping through his torso, three of which stuck permanently from his back as he slashed through the three men attempting him from behind in one fell swoop. He groaned, three katanas deeply injected into his back in numerous places, only three enemies remained before he could reach his true goal of Raigoku. He wasn't about to die when he had unfinished business to attend to, and so he charged this time instead of his three enemies getting the jump on him, he sliced through them aptly however he was met with another katana in his gut before he was able to dispose of them all. Heavily wounded, each blade held deep inside of him he didn't show any signs of falling yet, his breathing was heavier but besides that no noticeable signs showed he was in pain, instead he was still grinning evilly.
"Y-You're not human!" Raigoku howled as he looked down at his fallen comrades, his to be murderer still standing tall despite numerous blades sticking from his body. Essui didn't speak, he only advanced on the male, the man who had taught him everything, who had made him become such a despicable creature as he was now, he had nothing but gratitude but at the same time he needed to let the world know what happened to those who betrayed him. As he reached the leader of the bandits, the man he once called brother he saw the fear in his eyes, the hesitation to try to fight off this monster before him, it was pathetic. "You should know, you made me like this.." he spoke simply, as Raigoku always liked it when people got to the point, although in this conversation he probably would have wished it to be prolonged. Without so much as a struggle Essui stuck his blade so deeply through the heart of his mentor he saw the very life drain from him in seconds, he always felt the most serene rush when those close to him were taken out of the world by his own hands. Speaking of being taken from the world by his hand, it wasn't like him to die from another's blade and so he pulled the katana from the man he had once admired and decided he would be the one to remove himself from this miserable existence. Committing what would become the traditional samurai way of doing things, seppoku to end his own life before the many swords stuck in him did the job, it was a painful way to go but he would have had it no other way, he lived a life of pain so he should at least die bathed in the feeling.
Chapter Three Old Habits Die Hard Time Frame? 94 YRS A blue wisp began to envelop him, a surge of strength caused his worn blade to become sharper by some kind of invisible force
He had never expected to still be somewhat alive after his death, the events that had unfolded were rather strange to him, despite being a criminal, a murderer, a long list of terrible things it seemed he was pardoned of all his ill doings. His last attempt at atonement seemed to be enough, a god of death had witnessed his act of selflessness and begrudgingly granted him access to the world's vision of heaven despite his conscience wishing to leave him for food to demons. Although he might as well of left him for dead, the poverty stricken area he was sent to as he quickly learned was Rukongai was no better than the bandit infested life he had lived. It wasn't a surprise to him when he quickly dug up an old grave and began a life of pillaging and killing once again, although he understood little of how you could kill something which was already dead to begin with. He was recruited into a very renowned group of bandits who were impressed with his skills in thieving, he even managed to kill one of their more experienced fighters. Although they were most intrigued by his insatiable appetite, something which was rare in this society of souls and told others he was gifted in the arts of spiritual pressure.
This new band of men quickly understood that Essui was not the type to follow, or at least not anymore-- they could tell something had happened to him during his life which caused him to not be able to trust leadership of others, he never gave his trust to anyone now. This caused a stir in the bandit camps internal workings when he challenged the leader for his position and murdered him in cold blood leaving him at the reigns. Many bandits left or attempted to usurp the position from him shortly after but those who challenged him were also killed violently in swordplay, something that Essui was proving he was not going to lose in. As he captained the group his name once again was reaching the far corners of Rukongai, as always it was tales of the skeletal man Gaikotsu who would kill anyone who got in his path, or those who strayed to his hideout in the far ends of the forests. He would often come into town to bully the vendors and steal bounties of food, although none was to share, it was all for his own hunger which only seemed to grow with each kill, the rest of his men having no need for food. They were awed by his need for substance and believed that if he weren't so evil the gotei would have found and added him to their ranks by now, however the abyssal aura he carried spoke volumes about his intentions and his purity.
The group of angry men went on pillaging and killing for many years together, it had been about ninety years into his strange new life that he had his first taste of real power, he and his men had just finished doing a particularly large raid upon Rukongai a few days prior to the fated meeting. They had killed a number of innocents and taken enough food to create a bountiful feast for only one. It was laid on a large poorly created wooden table near their tents in the forest. Essui remembered it well as it was his first grand meal he had ever earned for himself and it tasted of blood and sacrifice, he enjoyed each new bite he took into the savory food before him, most of it being raw meats as he had always detested cooked foods. Something about cold dead flesh turned him onto not cooking his meals, it had been a long time since he had any kind of meats that were cooked even remotely. He was enjoying his feast when he heard the most familiar sound of a blade being drawn, then the strangled cry of a man dying, it was a very nice feeling to enjoy a meal to however he knew whoever it was wouldn't stop until they had reached him and handed out the same fate as his ally.
It didn't take long for his men to surround the table with blades drawn as Essui sat still, much like the scene he had died upon, men protecting their leader blindly while he sat back and enjoyed the show. Except he wasn't the assailant this time, in fact when he was faced with the man it turned out to be a sight to shake boots, or at least those of his comrades as they took notice of the haori draped at the elder mans shoulders. He was tall and wore a kimono underneath his haori, he had a fine stubble and long dark hair which whipped dangerously in the wind, it meant nothing to Essui however his men seemed mortified. The man was fast, he was upon the group in moments killing all of his remaining men swiftly, Essui got from his seat quickly however it wasn't to fight, instead he held that same twisted smile he always did when violence was afoot, he clapped at the sight very happy with the opponents strength and ability to dispatch his friends like they were cattle in a slaughter. It didn't even phase him that clearly he was next. He took a large bite of the chicken breast in front of him, with a full mouth he drew his blade, his hazel eyes piercing forward to the man, the Gaikotsu of Rukongai had his work cut out for him. Maybe this time when he died he would remain in pieces, he was tired of being a walking corpse, this life was beginning to bore him to no end, he just wanted nothingness to overtake him now.
As the two men clashed it was a spectacle. They both spoke no words to one another, the bladework between the two was rather exciting to watch, even more so to be apart of, it had been the most that Essui had felt alive since his untimely departure of his world. The two blocked and parried each other for minutes on end but the skeletal man was slowly being overpowered, the man was clearly toying with him as his strength, speed, and ability with a blade was on a whole different level. It angered the bandit to be toyed with and be so helpless about it all, he gathered up all his pent up rage and frustration and he felt his blood boiling like it had when he was a child, during his very first kill. A blue wisp began to envelop him, a surge of strength caused his worn blade to become sharper by some kind of invisible force, the wisp slowly growing into a fiery cocoon around his entire being, he was finding himself able to match, and even overpower the other for a split second, believing he could win this battle after all. In a single moment he was proven to be nothing but naive, the opponent let out a small half-smile before he forced his blade against Essui's own and in a single motion sliced it in half. The blade didn't stop there, his torso was ripped open from the force as well and in his last few moments everything faded to black as his body hit the ground below.
He awoke to the smell of smoke. Nothing else, no pain. At first he believed he might have entered another new life, although that possibility was dashed as his eyes opened to the forested area he knew so well, his camp. To his right came a hearty laugh and as he turned his head he saw the man who had supposedly killed him before hand, he blinked stupidly unable to grasp the situation in the slightest. The man was smoking from pipe, he looked flushed as he dug into the feast Essui had prepared himself from the killing of all those innocents, he then remembered the gash to his torso and felt for it instinctively, there was blood but no wound, it had confused him greatly. "Come my son, join me in this feast which was rightfully yours" he spoke with a calmness that was absurd to Essui, as a murderous man who had just quelled the bandits of Rukongai it was as if all was well in the world. Rather than die the young man complied taking the seat opposite of the strange man who should have left him to die, he did not question where his wound had gone or why he was still breathing, instead he listened. "My name is Kajira, I am a captain of the Gotei Fourteen, you know of them, yes? I decided to take it into my own hands to destroy this bandit problem you created" he put everything simply, it reminded him a lot of Raigoku and made him sick to his stomach but he did not speak still, this man seemed like he had no time for questions and rambling prattle, besides Essui had saw what he was capable of by now and wasn't interested in death anymore now that he knew he had a chance of living.
"You show much promise. I can see no fear of death in your eyes. I'll give you a one-time opportunity, much like what was given to me. Join me or die like the rest of these wretches." the request was simple and the answer was even more so, Essui knew to accept as he didn't wish to die, not anymore. Death never phased him but it was also not his first choice out of any situation, besides he knew to take this offer soon for something about the man's appearance told him he was not in his right mind. Essui needed to take this option while it was still on the table so he had come to a conclusion rather quickly this time "I accept" he spoke bluntly, wishing to get away from all this and live in a life of lavish for once, poverty had been his way of life for far too long now, he deserved a break for once.
Chapter Four Eighth Division? Time Frame? 138 YRS The Gaikotsu of the Eighth Division.
In the short while he was a shinigami he found a great distaste for the people who surrounded him, the way the spoke and presented themselves was disgusting, acting like gods in a world without justice. He knew they could not be such, how were they gods if a demon was able to sneak his way into the ranks, this place reeked of arrogance, it just wasn't his crowd. However the lifestyle he now lived made it all worth it, he found himself with bountiful meals and a warm bed to sleep in, although he never would have expected he was being dragged into a religious sect when he first accepted. The monastery he called home was strange, his captain didn't seem fit to hold the title of grand monk as he had learned he did, the man was constantly high and as of late even Essui joined in his antics although he did not claim to be a saint. Everything about this spiritual place was rotten to him, perhaps that was why he enjoyed it so much, being about as rotten as they come he fit in well here, even though he had been receiving strange looks since his first appearance here, a man cloaked in skeletal markings was a strange addition to a spiritual clique. He had begun training by that point, since learning the basic kido and hoho, plus being granted a zanpakuto, a mythical blade which connects and creates a pathway to the user's spirit, his own had yet to surface, it wouldn't have surprised him if he didn't even have a spirit anymore with the atrocities he had committed in his life time.
He found himself seeing a lot of the captain, becoming one of his most trusted vassals, for some reason he kept on calling him by Lieutenant even though the eighth division he had begun to call home hadn't had a lieutenant since Kajira took over as the grand monk, it was apparently because none were saw fit to hold the title and become his apprentice. Perhaps it was some strange kind of flattery that he called him by such a name, he only seemed to do it when he was intoxicated so maybe it was some sort of delirious illusion set in place by his hobby of smoking opium. It did not matter much to the man, he was cozy in his new position and wanted to keep it that way, he let the captain believe what he wished, and if he caught him on a good day the man would even train him a little. His knowledge was furthered by Kajira, he became apprentice-like to the man over time as the captain showed him many new techniques in both hoho and kido, advancing him quickly in power. The most important lessons being in swordplay and learning the ropes of a true swordsman, his zanpakuto was a wonderful tool and his favorite sessions were the sparring where he learned leaps and bounds in how to fight.
He found himself slowly rising in rank and quickly rising in his abilities, despite his young age he became a seated member, the tenth member of the squad early on, although ninth, then eighth weren't far behind him. He continued his routine, he found that Kajira was most easily approachable when he was in a haze from smoking so the young man slowly got the captain more and more indulged in his sickness, having him yearn to keep the pipe on his lips and the smoke in his lungs, this lead to addiction not long after. It was around then that the skeletal man could approach his master about anything he wished and usually receive a positive answer, and it was also around this time he really dug deep into the quirks of the captain, and the friendship between the two solidified even if it was more or less one sided. Essui couldn't lie he did enjoy the foolish company of the man, it was always a sight when he was off embarrassing himself and his corps, it made the entire division look like dogs, and giving shinigami a bad name made the skeleton almost joyful. He loved seeing the good name of the spiritual division become tattered with each time the captain made himself look an idiot, it was a sight he soon longed for.
Before long the friendship was as tight as it could become, his seating in the division rose more rapidly now, from seventh seat to sixth, then to fifth. It was surprising to him, as many of the people whose position he was usurping were much older than he and more versed in spiritual matters than he could ever be. A seated member without even the slightest clue as to activating his shikai, a skill he had seen done by the captain many times now. It was around then that he realized how sick the man truly was, he would often have intercourse with the very materialization of his soul, and even more often would she scold Essui for causing her love to harm his mind, it was always in a fog and he could never think clearly now thanks to the skeleton force feeding his captain the drug he had started as a hobby and nothing else. His skills were now peerless, he could easily take on the other seats for their position however it was not the way of this division, they were all of spirit and not of battle and even the monstrous bandit didn't feel right taking it by force. He had gotten to the point where he could stand almost as equal to Kajira when it came to swordplay, as long as the captain didn't activate his zanpakuto of course, however his kido was still lackluster compared to everything else. By this point he knew he needed to put a lot of focus in his kido skills, his hoho had come a long way, to the point where he was probably faster than most seated members in every division save for the second.
Fourth seat came next, and soon followed by the third seat, all that was left was the ability to become lieutenant however he wasn't sure if it was a possibility as of late, even though the captain also referred to him as such. He had since become a master in wielding his zanpakuto even if it refused to give him its name, he felt it would be a long while before he received it, if he even had a spirit left, he remembered thinking once that it had left him in his previous life. His kido was well versed, his hoho outstanding, he was by all means ready for anything however he doubted he would become lieutenant until he could muster the power needed to call forth his shikai, a power he was not sure he would gain, with each passing year it became increasingly unlikely that he would receive the blessing of a name, and it frustrated him to no end. So he focused on different tasks, since he had come so far in training his eye found a new apple, a new thing to chase in his spare time, which was increasing as of late, it seemed he rarely had something important to do.
His newest pass time became women, he would often attempt to bring them back to his room, it was a hobby that like Kajira soon became an addiction, his infamy in his division was outstanding now. It began as the man with the skeleton tattoos and slowly upgraded to the one who could stand on level with the master, only to drop again to the pervert who chased skirts. It wasn't long before he had attempted to lay many of the women in his division, most more practiced and focused on spiritual matters than lust decline however there was still a portion that dared for adventure and agreed to be wowed by the Gaikotsu of the Eighth Division, and they were not disappointed when it was finished. However there was only one problem with all of this, it wasn't long before he had either been rejected or accepted by all the women in his division, a cause for concern as he had now run out of women to lay, of course he could always go back for seconds on a few it was not his style or way of play, he wanted a fun and daring new girl every time.
His cold heart and venemous words soon stretched to other divisions, doing all he could to lay with women of every division, most of the unseated members would comply while seated members were much harder to convince. He soon became known in other divisions as well, as a sort of spiritual en lightener who preyed on women, he could have done without such a cruel title but it mattered very little to him, in fact he almost embraced the idea, and soon he found that he was becoming increasingly power hungry, developing sexual feelings for each divisions captain seat and lieutenant seat alike. He staved off his hunger for the powerful women around him by continuously indulging in other units women, but soon even they began to run slim, he had either been rejected or accepted by all the unseated shinigami in every division by this point, his pickings were slim.
Chapter Five Wandering Emperor Time Frame? 341 YRS A colossal beast, a corpse of only bone, the human remains were clad in the armor a samurai would use.
It came to a shock, the day he finally received a name to call forth. He had spent decades trying to unlock such information, training year after year with his intoxicated captain using all the power he could muster to unlock this inner strength known as a shikai. It seemed he had taken the wrong approach as he was informed by Kajira to try a different form of training, he was tasked with ascending the one hundred thousand steps of the eighth division, to reach the shinigami shrine and pray for enlightenment. Most of what the old man spoke nowadays was nonsensical, hallucinogen induced garbage however he decided he would indulge his wishes nonetheless and climb the steps. Despite the redundancy of it all, and the fact it would be incredibly boring and tiring he couldn't help himself, he even listened to the man when he ordered the climb be done while Essui's eyes were closed.
The journey was a long one, one hundred thousand steps, it was hard to guess how long one would need to walk before they reached the top, Essui bet it would take a couple days at least. Blinded however it could take even longer, all he knew was that he was ready to do just about anything to hear the voice of his spirit, or just be sure he even carried a spirit anymore. His walk was an expeditious one, he lost all track of time, all he knew is that he did not sleep, nor rest, he couldn't even tell when it was light out and when it was dark thanks to his eyes being sealed shut. He walked each and every step until there were no more steps at his feet, he was starving by the end of his walk, he had done a lot of concentrating and thinking while he walked, however once he opened his eyes and was granted with the sight of the shinigami's altar he praised the red light, a strange thing that his sect seemed to worship.
He prayed to the stone before him for a long while, days passed and he did not stop, he was losing hope but alas he was at his wits end, so he continued nonetheless. Eventually his efforts were rewarded as a voice echoed through his hear, it was booming loud and echoed like a thousand men were speaking all at once to him. "I tire of this. You will meet me face to face, you weak shinigami" it groaned, startling Essui into opening his eyes only to find he was no longer at the alter. He was met with a giant doorway of bronze with many large steps, all around him were cliffs and it was incredibly dark and foggy. As he tried to collect his bearings he heard a blood curdling screech as something seemed to be opening the doors before him, a huge looming shadow breaking through the cracks as it continued to creak open further and further.
What he was met with had his skeletal appearance pale in comparison, it was a colossal beast, a corpse of only bone, the human remains were clad in the armor a samurai would use, looking like a serious force to be reckoned with. Its eyes glowed a ghostly blue, everything else about it seeming dead except the large blade it carried, a nodachi even bigger than its already hulking figure, it flickered as well, a black blade with skulls on the hilt, much like his own zanpakuto but its form was disappearing, flickering in and out of existence. He knew now that he did have a spirit, it was certainly menacing enough to be his, and the blue flame flickering in its eye socket showed nothing but malice and hatred, clearly directed towards Essui although he could not understand why that would be, he had never met his zanpakuto before let alone do anything or say anything to make it have a negative look upon him. He dare not speak yet, he wished to listen to what the creature had to say to him, clearly he was brought here for a reason and he planned to find out what that was, and to get a name for which to call upon his spirit again, next time in the heat of battle.
"My fury is endless with you, the insignificant mortal who has trapped me here, my only wish to venture to the unknown now thwarted by your greedy souls need for me" the skeleton snarled as it approached Essui's perch, letting his superior height and statue sink in, he wasn't about to let this human believe he was the one in charge. The shinigami never felt in charge to begin with, he was grateful his spirit had finally manifested to meet with him after all these years, he had been so anxious to meet the power which lay dormant within his spirit. "However it is about time you've learned of my presence, and what they call me.. at least then I can live my adventures through your blade" the monstrous being explained with a sort of vehement taste to his words, clearly not satisfied with who he was bound too, in fact it seemed as though it wouldn't have mattered who wielded him he would dislike them all the same, he was the true incarnation of a free spirit, a traveler unbound now chained to a human vessel. His hatred to the one who had bound him so cruelly was understandable, although Essui was still visible upset with how his zanpakuto went about handling the situation, he had needed its power long ago but at least now he could make something of himself, with the aid of his zanpakuto.
The giant skeletal figure took the small master in his bony palm raising him so that the two met eye to eye, the blue flames he used to view the world still fiery with disgust seemed to bore into him reading everything about Essui in that one moment and not particularly liking what it found. He seemed a little let down that the one to wield him was so vulgar and despicable a person, despite being a wanderer the last thing he wanted to do was be associated with a murderous man such as Essui, that much could be ascertained. Still the giant being resigned itself to its new fate understanding it had no control over any of this, it was either to remain forgotten here forever or reveal itself to the one who now owned it and would soon share its power, and it took the latter approach to the whole ordeal. It's fate was sealed so the least it could do is not die, and its chance of survival with such a malicious owner was slim unless granted the power held by the colossal being.
Something seemed to spark in those fiery eyes of his, the azure color finding itself turn more into that of crimson as he spoke, before long they were a red deeper than flame, deeper than even blood. The monster before him let the human being down, its palm slowly reaching the surface of the strange land it was trapped in before letting the skeletal man off and returning to its full height. It seemed determined now, determined not to lose itself to the master who enslaved it with his becoming a shinigami, this new way of seeing things would eventually doom Essui into despising the sword he carried. "My name is not yours to be given, but to summon me you must only call to Horo Kotei, my powers are yours now mortal"

Zanpakutō Activation Statement | "Forbid refuge, journey always into the depths of the unknown, Hōrō Kōtei" Zanpakutō Blade Changes | The weapon increases in size and width to that closer of a nodachi, as well as the steel of the blade flickering, particles of it seemingly disappearing and reappearing into the ethereal plain at a rapid pace, foretelling what future events are about to unfold. Shikai Abilities Direct Line Essui is able to teleport to any location in a direct line and if contact is made with another person or object they can shift along him with him so long as contact is held between the medium. No more than two people not including Essui himself can be teleported at any given time due to the limit of two hands having to make contact with the beings, one for each person making any more than two impossible to transport. The highest total distance one can travel is 300ft. [2 Post Cooldown] Distortion By making a rift between his current world and the void Essui is able to open two separate portals, the first being created in front of him, able to absorb any incoming projectile attacks, sucking in all that crosses its path. The second portal is delayed in activation only opening after the first had absorbed an ability of some kind. This second portal works as a mirror sending whatever had been swallowed back into the current world. The portal itself is able to erect wherever Essui deems fit in a radius of 250ft around his person. This ability works on every type of projectile attack no matter the power behind it. [2 Post Cooldown] Abyssal Shift Using his void Essui is able to teleport solid objects on a larger scale giving him the ability to move walls, trees, entire buildings, boulders, as long as it is not truly connected to the earth the possibilities are endless. This ordinary teleportation makes up for its straightforwardness in sheer power, its ability to bring up large items such as whole buildings and large builders and re-animating them where ever Essui so pleases makes it rather dangerous if used by the correct mind. The ability itself is still simple nonetheless, take a large object, teleport it to the desired destination whether it be sky, land, water, where ever the user so wished it to go then there it would be found. This ability can take and teleport objects around a 600ft radius. [3 Post Cooldown]

_________________________.. Shinigami Abilities
Zanjutsu | Essui is well trained in the arts of the blade, his swordsmanship is reveled in his division being second only to that of the captain whom taught him much of what he knew, almost all of his blade-work coming from what he learned at the side of his captain. He can easily hold his own against the higher seated members of most assault based divisions with the skills he has learned, perhaps even besting a few fellow lieutenants. Hakuda | Although he is still a worthy opponent in hand-to-hand combat it is not his greatest field, he could still hold his own against seated members from other divisions however he may struggle against stronger opponents as he is not well versed in the act of close range combat without weaponry at his side. His only strength in hand-to-hand being the element of surprise granted by his zanpakutos abilities. Hohō | Much of Essui's ability lay with escaping, and re-positioning himself quickly, therefore it comes to no surprise that the shinigami has high mobility and great power when it comes to that of Hoho and all it entails. A true feather foot if he isn't using his portals to travel then the swiftness of his shunpo is usually what keeps him ahead of those around him. Durability | More of a personal skill the skeletal male is accustomed to pain, going through rigorous amounts of it during his time in both the living world and the spirit realm. His defensive capabilities mostly stem from the fact he's a bit of a masochist and reveres in the pain he's receiving, not so much in his pure ability to shield himself. It is its own strength as he is practically un-phased by pain inflicted on him by others. Reiryoku | Spiritual pressure pertaining to this individual is rather high, as to be expected by a lieutenant he has shown to have a good grasp of his spiritual pressure as well as to burden a large amount of it, nearing captaincy level to be exact although not quite as potent as the many captains of the gotei thirteen.

Well Hiya! My name is Kyousuke Riluka! I will be role playing as the Squadron Two Captain. I am also going to be your judge. So let's get this started and I wish the best of luck to you! xxxxxxPERSONAL INFORMATION ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ ▃▃▃ ▃▃▃▃
Great! It matched your Captain's very nicely!
xxxxxxZANPAKUTO DETAILS ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ ▃▃▃ ▃▃▃▃ **I'll be reviewing the Actual Details, Shikai, and Bankai separately
Actual Details
O.O....A "void" based blade! Oh! This is going to be good! I look foreword to it! Everything seems to be in order with the actual details! Let's move on!
SHIKAI
Shikai Ability 1: Very intriguing! How far can you go? How fast is this "teleportation"? Does it give any warnings that it is about to be used?
Shikai Ability Two: I like it! However, I would word this....more clearly. I had to read it twice to understand. I also would like to see a limit on how much you can absorb. As well as how far you can teleport away. Say like..you can't teleport away from 100 meters from your standing. Or something.
Shikai Ability Three: Again...I LOVE YOUR BLADE! However, I do need a limit on how far you can teleport stuff. As well as how much or how big. Possibly a weight limit or something.
BANKAI
xxxxxxSHINIGAMI ABILITIES ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ ▃▃▃ ▃▃▃▃
I see no problems with his combative information. There's a nice balance with his kido section along with the rest of his shinigami abilities.
This is a great RPC! As well as a ingenious blade! However, I would like to see a little more info on the limitations. Again, I am in awe right now. I do hope to hear form you soon. Quote me when you have made the edits ^.^
