It had been a rough past couple of days for the green unicorn, his world turning topsy turvy in a matter of hours. He hadn't seen FP in a long while, understandably so the stallion was a very busy guy but that wasn't all on Hyd's mind at the moment. The idea of staying secret bothered him, and in the end it was decided the two needed a break from each other.. things just weren't working out. In a huffle of tears, not sure what to do with himself, Hyd decided to visit his brother Lullaby.
His older bro was married.. had kids. Surely he did something right and Hyd had done something wrong. But the green unicorn was just too distraught to really figure out what it was or what he should have done differently, so he hoped his brother had the answers. Lull was the first one Hyd had told about dating FP, even if secretly, so it was natural in his mind Lull was the first to go to when it all went wrong. He knocked a hoof on the door tentatively, sniffling. "L-lullaby..... a-are you in?" he called and wiggled outside impatiently.

It wasn't Lullaby that opened the door, but Shrill X. She looked Hyd up and down and then called out in a piercing yell, "Daaaaaaaad, uncle Hyd is here and he looks like he’d going to cry or something." A brief pause. "Daaaaaaaaaaaaaa-" "I’m here, I’m here!" Lullaby cried as he trotted into view. "What did I say about yelling in the house?" "Whatever." The filly shrugged and walked away, slamming the door to her room a few moments later. Lullaby looked after her, shook his head and then got his first good look of his brother. There was a moments pause and then he simply moved straight into a hug, wrapping an arm around Hyd and pulling him close. He didn't know what was troubling his brother, but something was wrong and he would do his best to make it better.

Expecting to see his brother at the open of the door, Hyd blinked when nothing eye level appeared to him.. and then he glanced down at Shrill X. Oh how stupid Hyd felt, forgetting Lull had kids now and probably just interrupted something! He was about to force a smile for his niece when her piercing yell made him flinch and flatten his ears to his head. And again when she slammed her door.
He peered at Lullaby with a sorry expression. "I didn't mean to bot...." he paused, cut short by being wrapped in a hug and tugged closer. Instantly the tears started again and he threw his arms around his brother. "I'm sorry Lull... I don't know what to do...."

Lullaby simply hugged his brother for a few minutes and then stepped back, ushering him inside. "Come in and tell me all about it. We'll have some tea." He was running through a mental list of what crisis it could be as he settled Hydrangea down on a cushion and put the kettle on. Perhaps something had happened to his flowers.

Hydrangea nodded and settled down on a cushion, twiddling his hooves together as he watched Lullaby prepare some tea and place the kettle. In his mind he was having second thoughts about disturbing his brother but his heart discarded any thoughts at the moment. He simply couldn't refrain from bursting out loud. "Fruit Punch and I are no longer dating!" he blubbered and continued to pour tears from his eyes like a water hose on steroids.

"Ah," Lullaby said as he set out the cups. That had been the last thing on his mind. While he was one of the few to even know about the relationship between the two, it was an easy fact to forget. Leaving everything where it was, he sat down next to his brother, leaning against him with a sigh. "I'm very sorry. What happened?"

Hyd let his head flop down onto Lullaby's shoulders with a soft plonk as he wiped his eyes. "I don't know... I guess he had no time for me.... and... I... didn't want to be secret anymore.... so....we broke up." he said and bit his bottom lip. He took a deep breath to keep from deflating and let it out slowly, blinking his eyes shut.

"You know, I never once got to see you out on a date or strolling through the park or even just at my coffee table gushing about how happy you were and the fun things you two were doing together." Lullaby carefully wiped way some of Hyd's tears. "You're going to be alright."

hat made him think, and he tilted his head as he blinked at his brother. He was right, none of that ever happened... he was happy though.. sometimes.. wasn't he? "I.. I guess yeah.... but... how did you do it Lull? You even have kids..." he sighed.

Lullaby looked surprised by the question and didn't answer right away, instead giving himself time to think about it. "I... I don't know," he answered finally. "I was just... I always knew I loved Draft and never thought it would amount to anything. Then one day he confessed his feelings to me and I nearly died of shock." He shook his head and smiled fondly at the memory. "Maybe I'm just lucky? Someday you'll find that phony you know you're meant to be with and it will just happen." Fea Line Congrats on Foxtrot! *o* <3

At this Hyd stared down at his own hooves in though for a few moments, thinking about what all his brother had said. He knew he had loved Fruit Punch, there was no doubt in his mind at all about that. And he knew FP had loved him too.... didn't he? But he had to be a secret..... Hyd shrugged, getting irritated and sighed. "I guess... I just wonder maybe... if I did something wrong? I just didn't want to be a -secret- ...anymore." he deflated. But maybe his brother was right... perhaps he just had to have a little more patience? Ruriska I.. waah.. ty!! *o* ijustdonteven, she surprised me after it was already a done deal ;o;

"You didn't do anything wrong." Lullaby said firmly. "You had every right to end something you weren't comfortable with. That doesn't mean you're at fault or you didn't love him enough. Sometimes these things just don't work out." He hugged Hyd even closer, feeling useless. All he wanted was for his brother to be happy and he wasn't sure if he was saying the right thing at all.

Hyd wrapped his hooves around Lullaby and hugged him tightly. Lull had a way of making Hyd feel better, no matter what he seemed to say. So much so he couldn't help but give a short laugh. "I think you may be right..." he sniffled again and rubbed his nose. "Why cant it hurt less though."

"Ah darling, that's just how life is." Lullaby gave Hyd a brother kiss to the head. A door opened and closed behind them. Shrill X strolled past, gave them a weird look as she grabbed a muffin and returned to her room with a muttered 'ew'.

Hyd sighed and gently headbonked his brother. "Yeah... I guess." she said before his attention turned on Shrill X's abrupt entry and then exit muttering an ew. He chuckled, not able to resist. "Lots of spirit that one."
