There was just something so refreshing about breaking ones fast in the crisp coolness of the predawn hours. Zar'roc knelt by his recent kill and used his paws to peel strips of flesh from the still steaming carcass. The stallion was all but invisible as he reclined near the unfortunate mare that had dared cross his path that morning. In the scarce light all that was seen of the purewalker were his glowing blue eyes and the random flickering of the sparks that flew from his back in random bursts. His own eyes closed in dreamy pleasure as he continued to sup. It was rare that he would have so much time alone with a kill. He began speaking in a low voice as he paused in his meal. His eyes opened with clarity as he addressed the mare.
"Such a pity that this beautiful sunrise that is upon us cannot be witnessed by your eyes m'dear. Fear not though, they shall not go to waste. Such a beautiful morning and glorious feast ... and yet there is nothing for you."

It was rare that Zar'roc could feast for as long as he was welcome to. He had not had the chance to sit down and enjoy such a meal. This land was strange in that matter. This mare had been too slow in losing his trail and had paid for that error with her life. Zar'roc glanced at the ground around him before giving his body a much needed stretch. Muscles rippled under his pelt as he observed the signs that spoke of his kill. Much to his amusement the ground had taken on the same hue as the mare's body. The color of dried blood clung to everything as the male gave a large yawn. It was time to leave but there was one more ritual that he had to complete.

It was a strange obsession but Zar'roc was compelled to follow through just the same. The purewalker groomed himself before eying the large open cavity that yawned before his gaze. Scuffing at the snow around his paws he built up a large pile of the frozen wetness. With careful patience his paws worked at filling the gaping hole. With a critical eye Zar'roc graded his work before rolling the mare onto her stomach. Walking around the corpse of the mare he tugged on certain limbs here and there. The finishing touches were complete. His blue eyes glowed with appreciation of his newest masterpiece. The mare now looked as if she was merely sleeping and could awake at any moment. However the truth was buried deep inside. She would never open her eyes again. With that Zar'roc's form blurred as he took on the smaller form of the wolf. He threw his head back and howled lustily before darting into the shadows that were slowly disappearing.
