I mean, cats are usually naturally lean.

Roman worries me sometimes, because he just looks thin. Like if I look at him from directly above, he's got like ribs, then like a really skinny waist sort of area, then legs. But I can't see his ribs when he walks or anything. And he's got that belly fat that neutered cats seem to get...

He's probably okay, but he just looks so thin when I see him from above.

And he eats like CRAZY. I'm totally guilty of giving him scraps from whatever I'm eating, and he begs like a dog. There's no way he's being underfed.

Anyone got some answers?

EDIT: photos down there on this first page somewhere.

According to this, he falls in the underweight category, I think. I don't know, I was looking it up on some other sites, and he's not skin and bones, he has a little fat covering his ribs and at his rump, but he just looks skinny.

How do I make a super hungry cat gain more weight, anyway? He eats and eats and eats as it is.

First I'd do a visit to the vet, the full blood panel and all that, rule out medical causes for eating and not gaining weight.
If it's that he just has insanely high metabolism and/or is active enough that he's not gaining fat, it may be that you need to look into a different food (he may need a bit more of something, be it protein, fat or carbs, in his diet)

Well, tell me if he looks underweight (I chased him around the house with my phone, he thought that was sort of fun xd )

Maybe I'm just used to having a long haired cat (at my mom's house) or just fat cats...

looks like both of mine. those charts are helpful but they will also vary quite a bit based on the bone structure of the animal. my little 5lbs girl is always going to look pretty chunky even at her ideal weight because she is so stocky and has no neck. even when she was skin and bones she looked like she had a big belly because of her ribs

my male on the other hand is built to be leaner and its hard to tell when he is overweight or whatever because all of his fat sage. i can see his hips clearly so he looks underweight from the top but from the side he looks like the super obese cat

with cats you should be able to very slightly feel bone, but mostly muscle assuming you dont have a lazy lard a** like both of mine. and you shouldnt feel too much squish.

idk about your vet but mine lets me bring in my animals for free for a weigh in and a very quick talk about the weight of my animal

My little lady is perfect. Mister on the other hand...is obese.

Roman looks just fine! <3

I just weighed Saphi, because I was curious about where she's at and haven't done so in awhile. She's down to about seven, seven and a half pounds (was eight and a half six months ago).

Due to all the fluff, I can't tell by looking at her that she's lost weight (unless there's that much difference in her summer and winter coats, which I doubt). Can't really feel her ribs -never been able to-, can still feel her spine and shoulder blades.

I'm hoping it's just that she's still growing (pretty sure she's got coon in her; by the rescue-vet's guesstimations she's just about three, so there's a chance she's not fully grown yet) and not a health issue; eating and box habits haven't changed, energy's about normal, etc..

He looks like my 3 girls. I think he looks fine! Hes just lean c: He doesnt have tapeworm does he? o: Its an issue with all of mine often. I always deworm them when I see the signs. Little pebbles, live (moving, ahem) worms, and loss of weight or over eating x.x but like everyone said, he seems just fine. I wouldnt worry!

My girl was quite thin, I think just under 7lbs when we got her. We took her to the vet and found out she had worms, so I think that was part of it. I could definitely feel her ribs during those first few weeks. We got her dewormed and now she's put on a bit of weight but I doubt she's over 9lbs. Some cats are just small and lean.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.If it's any help, I constantly fret about my Minstreel's weight. I don't know why - I'm fine with the weight of both Tansy and Nightshade; I just constantly fret about whether Minstrel's too skinny - then I start feeding him a bit extra and then panic that I'll make him to fat.

I have felt slightly better since the vet told me he was a perfect weight. At least now I know what to look for! So, if you're really worried, maybe you should ask your vet? I find those pictures don't really help me, as they don't seem to take floofier cats into account. I mean, Mins is short haired, but it's fluffy enough that I wouldn't be able to see his ribs even if he was skin and bones.

We finally got Mister down to the "overwieght" catagorey. Hes generally a stocky cat so we just need to muscle all that fat out. Hes not a very active cat to begin with minus his crazy spells. Its very hard to get him to play. :/
