Shrieks and Giggles

The sunlight slowly faded from the city. Leaving behind a lingering trail of gold that was quickly and most suddenly swallowed by the coming darkness. A chill permeated the air as the night slowly grew colder as the darkness deepened. The dull lamplights faded slowly as a soft mist fell into place. It was the perfect night for dark things to play and an even perfect nights for some good scares. Or so thought the Misdreavus that slowly descended onto the city. Stretching out her ghostly arms, she embraced the chill with a wild grin across her lips. Her pinkish eyes, rimmed with gold, searched the ground below for any poor sap daring enough to enter the fog.

It wasn't long before her eyes found a mark, lingering almost hesitantly in the hazy gloom. It was a man and by the way he was standing there on the corner side, it seemed he was waiting for someone. From the way he now scampered to dig through his pockets, Eris would figure her guess correct. She circled around above, taking in more of her prey - if only to figure how to best scare him. Her tendrils curled at the sight of his thick, wavy brown hair. Perfect for her to tangle herself in for better gripping to cause more pain while she pulls.

His fingers were thrumming quickly across his cell, dancing across the faint glow of light from it's plastic interface. She drew closer and now she could hear his voice. It was high with fright. This night had him nervous. “Don't wanna inconvenience me. Lets meet in the middle she says.” he said, sounding as if he was mocking a woman between huffs of frustrations. Fear and anger seemed to mingle in the air as thick as the fog he stood on. A date gone wrong perhaps. Either way, the effect of the fog was perfect for her.

She floated in until she was hovering behind him. Eris took her time as her tendrils reached out to the hair near the nape of his neck. The man was too busy fumbling with his phone to really notice the light tug, but his body still shivered in response to being touched by her. She gave another light tug. This time the man jerked away feeling a chill crawl down his neck. The fear was rising within him and it tickled her to no end knowing that she would feast well tonight.

The little Misdreavus dodged beyond his sights quickly only to settle back in above him as soon as he settled. This time, the man took to calling the woman he was meeting. His fingers tapped slowly at first against his faded jeans. She ran her tendrils across his hair once more- this time gathering a bulk within her grasp before tugging roughly. The man jumped this time and lost his phone. Eris quickly darted behind a lamp post, giggling softly to herself as the man cursed loudly. He scrambled for his phone and quickly left. Grinning wildly, Eris spun out of her hiding placed and dived towards him, shrieking all the while. From the depths of the fog, all the man could make was a pair of glowing eyes followed by a high pitch scream.

She could almost feel the chill running down his spine and the terror as her tendrils caught his hair and pulled his head along with her. She'd managed to drag him forward a bit. Enough to send the poor man stumbling to his knees and leave him to scamper away with his tail tucked between his knees. The night was young and there were many more victims to find on a beautiful foggy night as this. Eris giggled and squee back into the black of night and waited for her next victim to arrive.
