This should be amusing. It's after the two WD's have left their creations. XD

Much to his chagrin it was indeed almost near noon by the time they reached an area that could be called well-watered. He was ready for a drink then he would consider catching something. Creo glanced over at his hybrid companion. She was a lively thing and he'd enjoyed some pleasant company today instead of his usual lonely travels.

"I'm not seeing anything right now. Say you we go down to the river for a drink first? My tongue is feeling stuck to the roof of my mouth." He made a funny face for her benefit.

User Image"I'm sorry it wasn't as close as I had earlier thought." She never was good and judging distance.Who's idea had it been to go look for a watering hole that was supposedly close by? Oh yea. Hers. She looked over at her new-found companion and nodded her head in agreement and then laughed as he made a face to go with it.

"Aye, says I." She leapt atop one of the rock formations near the area and padded her way down the other side onto the embankment, as she came down she felt herself step on a pile of mud and it caused her to look down and she was standing on the remains of half a... something. She lifted her foot up and looked over to spot another one nearby and she was slightly confused.

What was this odd arrangement of feathers, pebbles and stuff? "What do you suppose made these?"

He waved aside her apology with an easy wave of his paw. "Distances can be deceiving. It's no fault of yours." As wanderer and traveler he knew that very well. He had just to push through it. They'd made it and now could get their reward of a nice cool drink before looking for lunch. At least she was still laughing about it.

Creo bounded over the rocks heading bee-line for the water. He pulled up short at the site of two mounds of sand. For a moment he took them as some weird, large dung heaps. Except there was stones and feathers on them. The male peered at them closely. "Never seen anything like this 'fore Hadeth." He sounded as baffled as he looked. "They look recent though don't they?" Creo nodded at the damp sand she'd stepped on.

She hadn't seen anything like them before either and she had to agree, they were recent. Maybe under and hour even, she shook the remainder of the wet sand from her paw and looked closer at the piles of decorative rocks, feathers, sand and shells. "Recent enough I'd say. There's paw prints around here too, so someone had to of made these?' What would take the time out of their day to spend it creating something like this? Perhaps it was children? The young always did do odd things.

Moving carefully around the pile so she didn't step in it anymore she made her way to the water to get a drink before continuing her ponderings on the objects before them. She dipped her head to the cool waters and lapped up the liquid heartily and then turned her head back to the formations of sand. "That truly isn't something one sees every day now is it." She said with some laughter in her tone.

Creo bent to inspect the undisturbed mound closely. Everything seemed to be placed with a purpose. He had to admire the work, simple and elegant. The male gave a nod as he looked around at the sand too. "If you ask me these look like wild dog prints. Hard to say how many for sure; they are all over the place."

He stopped long enough to get a long drink. Her comment started a low chuckle. "Aye that. Those a couple of dogs around might explain the scarcity of prey. What do you want to do now?" He gave a wave of his paw. "We could try creating something too."

She eyed the prints again after he said wild dog and she realized he was right. And that would explain why all the potential food was not around. She frowned slightly and then looked up at him as he suggested them make something. "Like these?" She gazed down at the piles she gestured her paws to.

She was actually hoping some prey would come by first because she was more hungry than she was inventive at the moment. She wasn't sure what else they could do while they waited for something to wander by. Surely it wouldn't be too much longer before something got thirsty. "What do you have in mind?"

He was hungry too. Fretting about it didn't make the hunger go away any faster. There had been days when he'd gone hungry before. With Hadeth there was a better chance if something did pop up to catch it. Creo gave a nod and a shrug. Who knew why the dogs had made them in the first place. Some obscure ritual? They could have been crazy too.

"If you'd rather not Hadeth it's alright. Really a silly idea." The male looked around for signs of prey. He didn't smell anything coming yet. "We could keep walking and hope we go in the opposite direction of these." He waved his paw at the prints.

She looked at him and she shook her head. "It's not a silly Idea.... It's just something I never would have thought to do." she tried to reassure him that his idea hadn't been a bad one. It was just an odd thing, to make such creations. It could be fun, but her mind was more focused on food for right now. "Perhaps after we've gotten some food we can decide if we wish to try our paw at whatever those are." She gave him a smile and she figured going in the opposite direction would be a good idea.

"I think we would have some better luck that way." She said before bounding up a slight incline to take a peek at what they had around them. Perhaps something would show its neck sometime. It was starting to get warm out and it was only a matter of time before some creature got thirsty.

Maybe she said it wasn't silly, but he knew it really was. There was no point to them. It didn't help them catch food or anything. Creo knew she was trying not to hurt his feelings. Instead he nodded. "Right food first." He followed her quietly. Stay or go? Who knew when those dogs had left. Prey might be shy until tomorrow.

"I'd say we go hunt a little further out. All this dog scent might keep prey away for awhile." He was more than willing to along if she had another plan.

The scent of the dogs was relatively fresh and perhaps his thinking was logical in that aspect. "Perhaps luck is not in our favor today?" At least their thirst would be sated if not their hunger. Water was always a necessity. Food was definitely up there next to that. If only these dogs hadn't been messing around here.

She looked around and thought she spotted a few figures in the distance but so far the watering hole looked empty. "What say you were try our luck elsewhere for food. We can get water now and then go on our way." If anything they would be fruitful elsewhere. There was always something out and about that they could snag up.

Sounds good!

"Hmmmmmmmmm," the male hmmed contemplatively. He couldn't blame the dogs for scaring the prey or doing what they did. Dogs were dogs. That still didn't change the fact prey would be scarce around here today. Finally he nodded.

"Let's tank up on water and move on. It's going to be a long hot walk before we find anything good." Creo signed and jumped from the small hill back down to the river. He crouched with his paws just out of reach from the lapping water. His head lowered until he could drink comfortably. The male knew he was going to wish he was back here to drink more before long.

After a long drink he rose to his feet and backed away from the water. "Ready when you are Hadeth." He waited for her to finish and choose where they would go.

Fin!

So it was decided. Hadeth followed suit and padded up to the water and drank from the refreshing coolness and let her body absorb the nourishing moisture. Satisfied she'd be alright for a little while she moved away from the water and towards Creo and looked around before decided which way would be the best way to go. "Let's go this way." She said with some pep in her step and hoped that they would find something good along the way.
