Hello, everyone! In an effort to ensure that any RP I happen to create serves the populace at large well, I thought I'd put matters to a vote rather than making something of whole cloth.
Accordingly, please submit your votes in the true spirit of democracy, and we'll see what you really want...
01: You should totally make.... a. A Literate RP. b. A Walk-in RP.
02: And the genre should definitely be... a. Fantasy! b. Science Fiction! c. Horror! d. Romance! e. Adventure! f. Mystery! g. A Combination! (Please specify)
03: If it's fantasy, it should be... a. High Fantasy: swords, elves, dragons, and dwarves: think Tolkien. b. Swords and Sorcery: wizards and horrors, warriors and thieves: think Conan. c. Unpleasant Fantasy: blood and war, corruption and treachery: think A Game of Thrones.
04: If it's Science Fiction, it should be... a. Hard Sci-fi: science and spaceships, and all about ideas. b. Space Opera: soaring high drama among the stars. c. Planetary Fantasy: Swords and Sorcery, but in space. d. Cyberpunk: implants and guns, megacorporations and mega-problems.
05: If it's Horror, it should be... a. Creatures of The Night: vampires and werewolves and bears, oh my! b. Ghost Hunt: sir, you are being haunted. c. Body Horror: something gross and tentacle-y is happening within you. d. Cosmic Horror: something gross and tentacle-y is coming from the stars.
06: If it's Romance, it should be... a. Ordinary Romance: the banality of makeouts. b. Supernatural Romance: love is eternal/feral/ghostly. c. Fantasy Romance: princesses, flounce your bustles. d. Romance And: All of the love, plus one of the other genres.
07: If it's Adventure, it should be... a. Pulp Adventure: punching nazis and fighting robot gorillas. b. Modern Adventure: raiding tombs and seeking lost cities. c. Adventure And: the pulpy goodness of adventure, plus something extra.
08: If it's Mystery, it should be... a. Detective Mystery: super-sleuths on the case. b. Murderous Mystery: who killed who? c. Larcenous Mystery: who took what? d. Secretive Mystery: what is the dark secret of mcguffin hall? e. Mystery And: mystery, plus one of the other genres.
And that's it for the formal survey! If you have something you've always wanted to play, but never had the chance, and it doesn't fit into any of the above, feel free to tell me about it! This is all for you guys, after all. :3

I'm far too lazy to take the formal survey but I'd say a literate horror RP might be fun.

Duly registered! Do you have any preference as to what flavor of horror? It's a pretty broad brush, after all.

I wouldn't mind having a roleplay based around the Fantasy Romance category in the shape of one of those RP's involving a group of princes and princesses who are brought together for the purposes of arranged marriages and throughout the roleplay each of them would have to learn to bear and perhaps accept the people whom they have been put together with. I've seen it once or twice in forum roleplays before but I've never actually been in one and I think it would fit nicely into the guild. It could be either walk-in or literate.

Agreed - this would fit in nicely with the guild. It might make a good literate RP, but I think it would need a well-developed plot outside of the arranged marriage concept.

So, so far we have literate horror fantasy romance arranged marriage.
I can totally work with this! :3 Putting disparate elements together more or less harmoniously is my specialty. Well, one of them.

Arranged marriage + horror fantasy. Sounds glorious.

There may also be a slight murder-mystery element, inherent to the backdrop. Well, say rather murder-mystery enabler. Whether anyone does do someone else in is up to them.

Haha, the choose-all-that-apply approach, huh?
And I'm glad everyone seems to be so excited! Just to whet your appetites (and get your opinions), here's the idea I'm toying with:
You (the players) are residents of Ormshraald, city of the dead; its orchards of whispering trees contain the ripening souls of the damned, and its every carrion-crow is thought to hold the flying spirit of the blessed.
At the center of the city is a great well, from which the souls of the unquiet dead issue, returning to their flesh bearing madness from the world beyond.
There are two trades for which Ormshraald is known.
The first is to be a cheremite, an heir of obsession. One thought- a belief, a way of behavior, an emotion- consumes the cheremite on occasion, and influences them always, but by way of compensation, they can inflict their obsession on others, expunge it from others, and sense it.
The second is to be a masquer, at once tradesman and safeguard. A masquer fashions the masks of the dead, which must be placed on a corpse lest it rise; this mask must contain the essence of identity, and as such is a potent charm. Every masquer also possesses their own mask, a constant reminder of their self; so long as they do not change out of all reckoning, their minds are sacrosanct, immune to the cheremite's baleful abilities.
The tradition is that cheremite and masquer are partners and mates, acting in concert for the good of all, and one a check to the other. In practice, however, matters are not so simple...
So, any thoughts? Criticisms welcome.

Seems like a good idea and the basis for a strong plot, but I'm a little confused about how the masquers and cheremites keep each other in check. Masquers are immune to cheremites' influence, but what about the other way around? Could you clarify that? Also - if all masquers are immune to all cheremites, I'm not sure how the groups would really get along. I imagine they'd be in conflict more than in harmony. Could you expand on the culture a little more?
