The deepest, darkest parts of the forest really were the best. The tiny mare trotted happily through the undergrowth, clutching her hat in her teeth rather than wearing it on her head as she usually would. There were just too many new and interesting plants here for her to find! She couldn't possibly carry all of them, and there was so much to do with them. She really needed a bit of water to go along with these, she had a few things she could try without sunshine or water but overall both were key. Key to the growth of plants and, thusly in her mind, key to unlocking their potential. Good for coughs? Headaches? Upset tummies? Being taught by another healer was a great first step, but if no one ever experimented with something new then no new cures would be discovered!
She was a mess at this point, walking through deeper parts of the forest always seemed to have that result on the mixed mini. Her long fetlocks, still a bit damp from her happy soak in a stream, were trailing dirt, leaves, and a few bits of brambles that had gotten stuck and come off the bush instead of out of her fur when she pulled real hard. Her mane had a severe case of hat-head, and that was after she wasn't all that worried about neatening it up. But she had work to do, and she was happy, and no one was going to care what she looked like, especially if they weren't feeling well and looked a mess themselves.
Certainly she didn't care. She never much cared. It was sort of the least important thing on the list of important things. Way below finding new things, or being nice to people, or appreciating how pretty the world around her was, or making sure she ate dinner. Way, way, way below all that much more significant stuff. Humming happily, she paused to examine a protruding root curiously, wondering what it attached to and if it did anything in particular when added to... well, just about any of the things she currently had in her hat. The best way to determine that, of course, would be to try it. Plopping right into the dirt and leaves, Kali began carefully trying to extract part of it from the earth. Never know if she didn't try. So she would try!
