This thread is where character profiles for the main roleplay go.
Instructions: Each person posts once to reserve a spot. 'Reserved' or whatever works for that. Then you edit your post and put in the profile(s) of your character(s).
Before you get a hold of the template, let me explain how some of these ought to be filled out:
Photo - Don't care if you use tektek or an illustration. No rips from anime/cartoons/etc, no real people's photos, no stealing people's work, and keep the size on the low side if you're embedding the image instead of linking to it. (Tip: Line art is best saved as a PNG. JPG is meant for photographs and causes grody image artifacts on simple illustrations)
Appearance - In this section, explain anything that isn't adequately covered by the linked/embedded image. This section is mostly for Tektek users, as Gaia's avatar bases are all made to fit the one-size-only clothing.
Initial History - Keep this short. This section is where you explain how your character got involved in the RP, whether it's with the gang or in the case of secondary characters, other factions or knowing people in the 'main cast'. Save a good deal of backstory knowledge for the RP itself; chances are your character will get an arc of their own, if not several, meant to spur some development or reveal something about them.
Skills - Your character doesn't have to have awesome skills or fancy powers or anything. This is more of a 'what is he/she good at?' section. Please don't go overboard. Start simple, as you can always add stuff later as your character develops.
Additional Instructions:
If you change your character's appearance, update the photo and appearance sections as needed. This is not for trivial things like different outfits, but for things like major redesigns.

Maerua's profile:
Name: Maerua
[ Her speech color is plain black ]
Appearance: Maerua is thin and very short for a dark elf at roughly 5 feet tall. Despite being physically mature in her twenties, she looks childish; none of her facial features stick out. Above her head is a silvery barely-visible image of a halo that radiates a small amount of light; it only materializes in certain places. She has ears that are shaped more like a goblin's.
History: She is the crown princess of Serole, a floating continent that occasionally phases in from another plane. If you asked anyone else, they would say she came in from nowhere, but the truth isn't much better: she had been on a stroll outside the castle when a magical rift opened right under her feet and sucked her in. She was dumped out in Durem with no way back, and shortly found herself in trouble. To avoid being forced into prostitiution or used as a drug mule, she used her magic to impress the Kuros and get accepted as a regular member. Over the years she spent in Durem, she had worked her way up to the Black Ops. Very recently, she was able to establish a route back to Serole, but out of necessity has to stay in Durem. Skills: Maerua has recently lost her offensive magical powers as a punishment from her homeland's sovereign deity. Instead, she is restricted to casting minor helpful 'utility' spells like conjuring a few gallons of water, making things shine brightly for a little while, or magically mending tears and scratches.
Sabe's profile:
Name:Sabe Hudson
[His speech color is royal blue]
Appearance: Sabe is shorter than average for a dark elf in Gaia (at about 5'9"), and stockier. He is in his thirties but looks older thanks to wrinkles and rough features. His nose is prominent and has a slight 'hooked' or 'bent' shape to it. On the far sides of his jaw there's light patches of soft facial fuzz; it may be tempting to run your hand across it, but he never lets anyone touch his face like that. His ears have a triangular shape to them, with the top ridges running perpendicular to his head.
Initial History:Like Maerua, Sabe is from the floating continent of Serole. He was and in a sense still is Maerua's caretaker. He made use of a magical rift to get to Gaia in search of her a few weeks following her disappearance. He was unsuccessful in his search and on the verge of starvation when he encountered some bottom-barrel Kuro-affiliated thugs and one of them accidentally revealed some compromising information. Using this as leverage, Sabe was able to join the Kuro Gang, and they assigned him as a courier, delivering messages, intel, and packages between branches and squads. Working his way up with some close calls, he eventually found Maerua when he was assigned to the Black Ops.
Skills: For the mundane, he has a knack for tinkering with things, can swing things (like a heavy wrench) pretty hard, and has a very high tolerance for alcohol. The only thing that comes close to a magical power is built into his boots; for 5 short bursts of time (up to 15 minutes) a day, he can move exceptionally fast. He has to be careful though, as he could easily sprain or break his legs at a misstep.
Appearance: Long and lanky, about 6' with a lithe wiry body. His love for art is apparent in that his body is a moving gallery with the amount of tattoos covering his skin, as well as the various piercings [most of which are removed before a mission for safety reasons]. He has a sort of boyish face with rounded cheekbones and a rounded nose. His eyes are a dark red, and black where it would normally be white. Violet-grey skin and blue-grey hair [which he sometimes dyes white].
History: Koji was orphaned at a very young age with his younger brother, Salem. He can't remember life before the orphanage, not even if Koji was his real name. He grew up in the region of Durem where citizens were prominently vampires. He and his little brother were looked down upon in the orphanage due to their race. As he grew, Koji's own insecurities from his surroundings caused his natural dark elf powers to manifest into shadow and illusion magic. He was able to hide himself from others, or make them think something he wanted them to. Salem wasn't the same. He took a great resentment towards the other races which caused hate to build inside himself. Salem became more destructive, while Koji became more productive, spending his time drawing. When they had reached the legal age to live on their own, Koji took the small amount of gold he had earned on side commissions and opened his own art shop, with some helpful contributions from his best friend and assistant, Foxi. Salem took to the streets acting as a vigilante. He attempted to take on a gang of vampires alone but he didn't survive. The Kuros had planned on recruiting Salem, but upon his death, decided to take Koji instead. Koji agreed to join forces with other dark elves under the false pretense that they would attempt to extend peace between races so that nothing like what happened to his brother would have to happen to someone else.
Skills: Has some control over shadow manipulation and illusion. Can create shadow portals but the skill isn't refined and has been taking a toll on him recently. Decent in combat when using evasive tactics generally using throwing knives. Keeps a metal whip coiled around his waist like a belt.
Name: Cassian (Cas) Albero Speech color is [Crimson]

History: Cassian was orphaned at a young age with his younger brother, Evron. He grew up on the streets in Durem where citizens were prominently vampires, which led to the turff wars that killed thier parents. He and his little brother were often involved in fights due to their race and while Evron matured into a strong physique, Cas stayed pretty slim. Cassian was the first of the brothers to notice he had powers, but they mostly seemed to manifest as minor illusions until he got older. He fought side-by-side with his brother's vigilante act most nights, favoring sneak attacks and disorienting opponents apposed to his brother's direct approach. During the day he spent his time painting portraits on the street for money. He eventually got a small gallery space, but when he was recruited by the Kuro gang he was made art director and creative planner at one of their headquarters, dealing with the gallery in their hotel front.
Skills: Can create illusions to disorient and trick people. He also has a minor understanding of shadow magic, enough for short-range shadow portals usually used for sneak-attacks and evasiveness. Decent in combat when using evasive tactics generally using throwing knives.
Name: Evron Albero Speech color is [Goldenrod]

Appearance: Tall (6'3"), broad shouldered and strong. Grayish-lavender skin, with shaggy shoulder-length dark-blue hair that he usually keeps back in a ponytail. His eyes are yellow-gold and black where there would normally be white. He shares his brother's boyish face but his cheekbones are more angular and his jaw more square. He isn't much for fashion and usually just wears v-neck shirts and a leather jacket with jeans and boots.
Initial Histroy: Grew up on the streets with his older brother, Cassian, after having been orphaned at a young age. His parents died in the crossfire of Durem turffwars, Vampires being the ones to do them in assuming that since they were dark-elves they were in alliance witht he Kuro family. Evron grew up hating vampires and wanting nothing more than vengeance. He was constantly in fights trying to be some sort of vigilante against the vampires. As he got older, he realized he had some magical ability and it manifested in his anger as fire. Eventually his actions started getting in the way of the Kuro family and, seeing his potential, they recruited him. During their investigation into him, they discovered his brother's abilities and recruited him as well. At the gang's headquarters, he acts as security around the front desk and during important meetings due to his intimidating stature.
Skills: Elemental magic (fire), strength and hand to hand combat skills.

Name: Layla Caspar

Appearance: Layla stands at six feet tall even, and she often appears taller due to wearing heels. She is lean and has an athletic build, though it is sometimes difficult to tell due to her business-type outfits hiding her form. She has almond-shaped eyes and a button nose, but her pretty face does not warm her cold smile.
Initial History: Born into a well-to-do family of entrepreneurs in Barton, Layla was spoiled by her parents and their colleagues. Never questioning this favoritism, reality hit around high school when no one gave a hoot about her name. After a few sour experiences, she found ways to manipulate people and get her way. She graduated high school as Valedictorian; she earned degrees in Engineering and Business. Following her parents' footsteps, she launched Caspar Tech, a growing corporation on the outskirts of Durem that specializes in security and defense technologies. Little is known as to how she became a CEO in such short time, considering she is only in her mid-twenties.
The Kuros deemed her a person of interest and investigated her by arranging a casual business proposal as a cover-up. Not ignorant to their true intentions and seeing an opportunity to make a deal, she cut to the chase and offered her business services to them-- including nifty weapons-- in exchange for an occasional paycheck. Her business savvy and high competence in combat-- which was discovered, then later investigated, when she angered a Kuro representative and single-handedly disarmed him after he violently retaliated-- finally earned her a permanent seat among the Black Ops.
Skills: She is a black belt in kung fu. (At the age of 11, she asked her parents to let her take lessons. Her parents reluctantly consented and paid for them until she was 18.) In battle, she has natural agility and strength in her legs. As a businesswoman, she is a cunning liar when needed, though the phrase "honesty is the best policy" still holds some merit to her.
Appearance: Rosemary is 6'4'' tall and has an athletic build. She has long, shapely legs that seem to on go on forever and delicate looking features. With large bright yellow eyes that seem void of emotion, she has full lips and a straight nose.
Initial History: Rosemary's parents where murdered by a group of vampires when she was only 8 years old. Shortly after the tragedy of losing their parents, Rosemary and her little brother Louie, moved in with their father's younger brother who just happened to have very deep connections with a certain dark elf mafia.
Rosemary was a very obedient child, doing almost everything her uncle commanded which included willingly attending military school along side her brother. She would graduate with honors and then attend the Durem Police academy on her own initiative. It was during her police academy training that Rosemary would begin working for the Kuros and become her younger brother's partner. Together they would become one of the Kuros best team of assassins.
Shortly after graduating from the academy with honors, Rosemary was offered a job with the Durem Police Department, or DPD. The Kuros, impressed with Rosemary, told her to accept the job. She would then become their informant from inside the DPD. She would spend years climbing her way up the police ladder, starting from lowly Patrolman to Patrolman Supervisor and on to the Criminal Investigation Department where she would become a member of the Task Force in charge of bringing down organized crime, just as the Kuros had wanted.
Around the same time she would also be moved up to the Black OPS division along side her brother where the two remain today. They are still new to the Black OPS and haven't had many opportunities to get involved with much.
Skills: Having the standard skill set any cop/detective worth their salt has, Rosemary is also very skilled at hand to hand combat and the art of silent killing. If she is in the right set of mind she could put a ninja to shame with her stealth abilities.
Louie Underhill's Profile
Name: Louie Underhill

Appearance:Louie stands at 6'7'' tall with a very well-built body that he spends several hours a day sculpting to his liking. Over the years he has had several facial piercings that have left scars around his eyebrows, nose and lips. Currently the only facial piercing he has is on his lower lip. Despite his scars though, he still has a fairly handsome face and a ready smile for anyone who crosses his path. Don't let his smile fool you though! His bright yellow eyes are cold and void of emotion.

Being the eldest son of the eldest son, Underhill Family custom demanded that Louie would one day be the head of the family, a role he would not want. Eventually his Uncle would give up his attempt to groom his nephew for the head of the family roll and instead push him more towards his "professional" connections.
Louie started life in the Kuros' as a lowly hired muscle to dispense punishment and even death when ordered. He was so good at doing his job it wasn't long before he rose through the Kuro ranks. Together with his sister, Louie would covet the honor of being listed among the Kuros' best assassins. After years of carrying out orders, they would eventually make their way into the Black OPS where they reside now. They are still new to the Black OPS and haven't had many opportunities to get involved with much. His day job is that of a club promoter. Thanks to his "day job" he has lots of "professional" connections.
Skills: Louie has almost no magical ability however, put any gun in his hand and he'll show you how to make it sing. He has a sharp eye and is very good at picking locks. His hand to hand combat skills are top notch and thanks to his military school training he has knowledge of the best ways to incapacitate his opponent without killing them...at first.

Appearance: Lucinda stands at around 6'1" and has a solid muscular frame. She is fit and toned thanks to her intensive training regimen. She has long, braided, blue hair and deep red eyes, as well as pale skin tone. Her usual attire consists of an olive drab, tactical unitard, a pair of back gloves, elbow and knee pads, combat boots, and usually a garrison or beret on top of her head, along with an eyepatch. Other than her combat attire, she wears basic comfortable clothes that are not too colorful but help her retain her femininity.
Initial History: Lucinda, or "Lucy" as she prefers, was born to a wealthy and reclusive family, that preferred to stay out of the public eye. Not a lot is actually known about Lucy's child hood, but she was raised from an early age to be able to sustain herself in the wild and fight her own battles. She was home schooled until she was old enough to attend a university and once the time came, she chose to spend her college years at a military university so that she might not only train her mind but also train herself to fight and use weaponry professionally, keeping constant in how she was raised. Excelling in close quarters self defense and marksmanship, When lucy actually decided to join the military, she was quickly able to secure a spot in the Gaian 1st Recon squadron and shortly afterwards became part of the Gaian Rangers. In recent years, the conflict that the military had been dealing with had died down and Lucy started to get restless not being behind the scope of her rifle. She opted to leave the army when it came time to renew and set out to become a soldier of fortune, assassin, Mercenary, or whatever allowed her to keep her skills sharp. Her code name, "Poison Apple", that she used to make contracts, caught the attention of the kuros. After doing a couple jobs for the notorious gang of elves, she heard the the black ops had an opening for someone with her unique set of skills.
Skills: She is a first class sniper and spotter, as well as an expert in gaian ranger close quarters combat. Lucy is experienced in survival techniques and can be off the grid for any amount of time.
Appearance: 5'8, (5'11-6' in heels she wears all the time) Fit and curvy in all the right places. Keeps her hair short but has been know to wear a wig on stage. She dyes her hair red and has teal eyes. She dresses in tight fitting revealing outfits. With a very symmetrical face, she has often been described as "drop dead gorgeous". She also has a tribal band around the top of her left arm, and two beauty mark tattoos on her left cheek.
Initial History: As a child Kate was raised only by her mother, and was an only child. Her mother worked two jobs in order to make sure Kate was in the best school. Kate was a B student but excelled in her extracurricular actives such as gymnastics, fencing/sword fighting, and ballet. She had a fairly normal childhood, and had many friends. Her mother died when Kate was in her freshman year of college. Completely lost and devastated she dropped out of school and found a job in Durem at a Burlesque club called The Cat Scratch. She was the only dark elf at The Cat Scratch who performed and gained the name Sapphire Fox because of her blue skin. Her main act was being suspending by a wire, and moving flawlessly through the air. Elves from all over Gaia came to see her perform, and a higher-ranking member of the Kuro gang who was impressed by her flexibility and stamina and approached her with a job to steal documents from a politician. She was reluctant at first, not wanting to get involved in crime, but was swayed by the money, making more than she made in a month at The Cat Scratch. The job went off without a hitch, and she received more and more jobs stealing and spying. Apparently her unique skills reached the ears of right people within the gang and she was offered a full time job with the Kuro Black Ops team, and she happily took it. She still performs at The Cat Scratch a couple times a week.
Skills: Fencing, swordsmanship, gymnastics and dance has given her a very flexible and cat like ability to move from place to place quickly and without being noticed.

Name: Luciano Brozen
Appearance: 6'5", 205lbs, tall and muscular, broad shoulders with blue eyes and dark hair. He always seems to carry a serious expression, but he doesn't mean to look that way. On his right pec (or the right side of his chest) there's a Gaian Marine tattoo. His look can be described as "clean cut", a habit he kept from when he was in the Military. Outside of work he's quite fashionable, Luciano tries to keep up with the latest fashion trends. You can tell that he's well-kept by his hands, face, and build as he really likes to take care of himself. Initial History: Luciano is a former Marine, he was honourably discharged from the Military after being a part of it for ten years. He attended Valfor Academy when he was much younger where he was sorted into The Crimson Brigade (the ROTC basically). He comes from a wealthy Dark Elf family with ties to the Kuro family. These ties have existed long before the birth of his father. Once he got the honourable discharge he worked security for local celebrities, politicians, and other public figures. The Kuros thought Luciano would be a lovely addition to their Black Ops unit. As Luciano's day time cover job he works Security, and occasionally maintenance. Skills: CQC, Mixed Martial Arts, Weapons Specialist, Submission specialist, Mainly hand to hand combat fighting styles, but this doesn't mean he won't do well when the fight is taken to the ground. His ground game is most superb- even when in a life of death situation.

Name: Lit Xous

Gender: Non-binary demiboy. Prefers they/them pronouns, but will accept he/him.
Appearance: At 5'3", Lit is bizarrely short for a dark elf. They have some amount of muscle tone, but it's all easily concealed by their preference for loose-fitting and layered clothing. Their highly generic and androgynous oval face features a small rounded nose, a near perpetual grin, and a sharp blue left eye. Their other eye is covered by a black eyepatch. Lit doesn't like to talk about it, and will usually immediately switch to bizarre(and often horribly nsfw) topics when it's brought up.
Lit keeps their white hair tied back in a long layered ponytail, and has never considered cutting it shorter. They even get upset when anybody attempts to, yelling things along the lines of "You're ruining my aesthetic, man!"
Lit prefers loose-fitting and layered clothing, and their casual outfits can be described as "hip-hop street-fashion bum." When "working", since baggy clothing is not very practical, Lit instead opts for multiple layers. However, they can never seem to find a pair of pants that aren't too long...
Initial History: The details of Lit's past are vague and contradictory, and Lit encourages the shrouding of their history, citing it as "mind-numbingly boring. A real snoozefest." As far as most people are aware, they first gained public notice as an amateur freerunner and street artist/rapper. Lit pinged the Kuro gang's interest about a year ago when they had somehow given themself a wedgie from the top of the Durem flagpost(they never lived it down...). Figuring that it must take considerable skill to even get in such a ridiculous position, Lit was initially recruited as a regular grunt, but quickly rose through the ranks and was recently promoted to the Black Ops thanks to their unorthodox methods and creativity. This move was met with much resistance initially, as their general reputation was "A complete idiot. How do they even live?!" However, Lit has proven their ability many times over, though they rarely take credit for their deeds.
Skills: Lit is excellent at attracting bad luck, getting people mad at them, and generally failing at anything related to daily life. They are fairly decent at drawing, but squanders their ability on cute girls, weird porn, and graffiti-like graphics. Lit is particularly proud of their weird porn for some reason. They're also fairly well known for rapping.
In terms of field abilities, Lit is capable of a weird mishmash of things including lock picking(both analog and electronicยญ), parkour, and (street)fighting. Their primary weapons are a set of matching short swords, a small pocket knife, and a strange fluid black wisp that is presumably powered and controlled through magic. They don't really stand out too much in terms of ability though, aside from their impressive mobility. Lit's usefulness is founded in their bizarre and unexpected tactics and general tendency to always be underestimated.

Skills: Anything you can do, Kamiya can probably also do, though not necessarily at the same skill level. She particularly excels at hand-to-hand combat, murder, and cooking. She's a little lacking in critical thinking, and often takes orders without questioning them. Not to say that she isn't capable of it, but her personality has not presented many opportunities for her to practice that skill.
Kamiya's only weapon is a magic-based inky wisp that can take the form of any weapon she could possibly need. The basis of the magic it runs on is similar to, if not exactly the same as the one Lit uses.
Name: Tarte Encre

Skills: Tarte is all about the magic: spells, curses, potions, anything related to the occult. That said, their magic is based on a foundation of "science with a healthy dose of quantum ******** ups." Don't question it. Magic isn't meant to be fully understood. She's also an excellent researcher of any topic, and a terrifying haggler.
Other than her research skills, haggling, and magic, Tarte is appallingly unskilled. That rapier of hers? It's purely for ceremonial and ritual purposes. It's never seen any real combat use, and most likely never will.
Tarte possesses a similar inky wisp to the one Kamiya(and presumably Lit) uses, but she mostly utilizes it as a third(or fourth or fifth) amorphous arm instead of a weapon.
