With Arsenic safely tucked back in Desmond's room, stuck in a nice wide box so she couldn't get into things and hurt herself, the boys returned to the couch taking up much the same position they had last night. Des stretched out along the couch with Gabriel pressed against his side, legs thrown in Desmond's lap. "So..." Des began easily, as he wrapped the blanket back around Gabriel. "Where do we wanna start first?" It wouldn't be hard to pick a topic, and they both knew it. Gabriel's parent's - (and by some extension, his own.), his corruption into the Negaverse, their actions from the night before, and Des intended to find out anything else he could as to why Gabriel was in this funk.

Gabriel sighed, burying his face in Des's chest. He still couldn't believe his boyfriend wasn't angry with him after what had happened - they'd slept together and he'd been moron enough to leave in a panic the next morning and then just wallow in misery for hours. "I dunno. There's a lot to pick from, I ******** up pretty badly." He sighed, and then he lifted his head up. "I just...want you to know. Do't regret what we did. I couldn't, not when it was with you."

"Well, do you wanna start with the easiest one first?" Which ever that turned out to be. He just shook his head, and tugged Gabriel fully into his lap, so that the shorter boy was now facing him, straddling his legs. "Why is it you think you ******** up?" He asked, resting his hands on Gabriel's hips. "And don't just say 'everything.' I want you to be able to talk to me when you're upset. I can't help you when I don't know what's wrong."
"I'm not mad at you you know, for leaving, I mean." He said as he tried to catch Gabriel's gaze. "I get it. You were scared. You were hurt... You probably felt like you couldn't think or breathe... I'm sorry if I made things worse."

Gabriel slid his arms around Des's shoulders. "Everything is pretty accurate, though," he said, and then he sighed. "I don't think I ******** up, Des, I know I did." He lifted his head up, and then briefly brushed his fingers across Des's cheek. "I really did want to keep you safe and out of this war, starshine, but I had to bring you in. I couldn't risk that next time I slipped up - and don't say there won't be a next time, I don't intend for there to be one but it could happen - it'd be you who paid for it. The same way my parents did." Losing Des would destroy him. "And the only reason I didn't then completely ******** up what we have is because you're the sweetest, most forgiving, most understanding person I know."

"Hey. I want you to listen to me. You didn't ******** up with your parents." Desmond said as he took a hold of Gabriel's arms. "What happened to them was an accident, so far out of your control its insane." Then he reached up and brushed Gabriel's hair behind his ear. "You are never going to lose me like that, or at all. You've seen I can handle myself. You were there, helping me fight that thing, and I didn't even know it." The purple haired boy shook his head. "You aren't going to 'completely ******** up' what we have, not because I'm sweet or anything but because I love you. I knew you were overwhelmed hun. You needed space. Just like when we were back at your place. I left so you could you think with out me hanging around and influencing your thoughts."

"It was completely in my control. If I'd teleported home instead of walking, none of this would've happened." Gabriel said. He swallowed, and the image of Des falling to the ground under the Shade Queen's assault played in his mind - he had already almost lost the purple-haired man once. "I'd consider all of that falling under sweet and forgiving and understanding, Des."

"You didn't know she'd follow you. You thought she was dead. You thought you were safe. There was no need to teleport." He picked his hands up, moving them from Gabriel's hips to his face. "I know what you're thinking about, and stop it. You made sure I was safe. Even after I passed out." Gabriel was about to emotionally lose it. Desmond could hear it in in the way Gabriel breathed, the way he spoke. See it in the way he acted and the slight sheen to his eyes. "Angel..."

"I did everything I could and you still got hurt because I'm a failure, Des," Gabriel whimpered. "Can't even keep the most important person in the world to me safe." He choked on his sobs, tears rolling down his face. "And now you're going to be in danger every night, and...and we'll have to be careful, I don't want people to know we're a couple when we're powered up..." Lest Des be used against him. He couldn't stand that.

"I could have been far worse then I was. But you didn't let that happen. Even when you were about to pass out, you managed to keep me close. You brought me home and you patched me up." His hands moved again, this time cupping Gabriel's face as his fingers twitched and his thumbs fanned out to brush the tears away. "I'm not in any danger. I know you'll teach me what I need to know. I'll be fine. I'll be with you." The purple haired boy shook his head. "We don't have to tell anyone anything. Just say we're partners. That's all they need to know." Des then pulled him in close, hugging Gabriel's frame too him. "No one's going to use me to get to you like that. I'll make sure of it." They'd have to be mental. "We're both going to be safe and sound Gabriel. I promise you."

Gabriel couldn't stop two days' worth of tears - not now that they were flowing. "I - I promise I'll do my best to teach you, but - but we can't be anything more than superior and subordinate when we're powered up. I'm your General and you're my Lieutenant and that's - that's all," he breathed. "I should be making you that promise but I can't because I'm a shitty General and I should ask Zinkenite to just kick me back down - I don't deserve..." And then he dissolved into broken sobbing.

"If that works best for you, I can work with that." Desmond said, as he gently stroked the back of Gabriel's neck. "You're a fine General. Just like you were before... What rank was that then, Captain? You've done well Angel. I'm sure you earned this rank.."
Des just let him cry. Gabriel needed it. And to be honest, Des had been slightly surprised he hadn't seen more of it the night before. He made soft noises of affection, gently nuzzling and hugging the smaller man as he cried.

Gabriel sobbed desperately, curling up against Des and wrapping his hands in the other man's shirt. "Y-you don't know...lI-I doubt any other General has let his identity be exposed to some crazy Senshi b***h..." Would he even be able to talk about this, with anyone? Probably not, it would get out and he would never be respected again. No one would believe he had earned his rank, and frankly he clearly hadn't.

"You took care of her. She's gone. You're safe angel." He pulled Gabriel's head out and wiped at the boy's cheeks again. "If nothing else.. Let me believe in you. Even if you don't." He'd be there for Gabriel when ever he needed him. "Even if no one else does. I will. And that's all that matters alright?"

"For now," Gabriel said, and then he let out a soft, pathetic little whine. "Des, no, I don't - I don't deserve your faith." There was a strange certainty in the way he said it, as if it was an immutable truth. "Just...don't put too much trust in me..."

"You're suppose to trust Angels hun.. To believe in them." He again pulled Gabriel close. "I believe you can do any thing." Des pressed a kiss to Gabriel's hair. "We'll be careful."
