Though she had now reached the grade old age of thirteen years, there was still much about the world that Haven Sinclair had not yet experienced, and quite a bit that she was having to re-learn as new information was presented to her. Why, in just the last two years she'd discovered that monster actually existed, and that was something she'd written off as childish nightmare fodder long ago when she'd been eight.
And that was, perhaps, the most intriguing bit of information in her life at the moment—monsters. Oh, she knew there was more to it than that, or at least she'd had a couple of people try to explain it to her before in more detail, but as one of those people happened to be her thirteen-year-old rival for the highest marks in their grade, she wasn't quite sure how much of it she truly believed. There was still a great possibility that Peter had been trying to pull her leg, after all.
In any case, the only way to determine the truth for herself was to investigate, and now that she was thirteen and no longer a little girl (whatever her grandfather might think), Haven thought it was time she tried to find the answers to Destiny City's mysteries on her own. She no longer required a babysitter and was allowed to go out on her own provided she stuck to the “safer” areas of the city (though her sources told her no part of the city was really truly safe), and so the opportunities for discovery were endless.
So it was that on a random Thursday toward the beginning of the new year, only days after her thirteenth birthday, Haven donned her warm purple coat, some dainty winter gloves, and a pair of snow boots to embark upon an adventure into the gently falling snow. She carried a snow shovel with her, not only to make it seem as if she had a reason to be out in the snow to any overly concerned adults who happened to walk by, but because if she happened to be accosted by a random monster while she was peering down dark alleyways, she wanted something with which to defend herself, and a snow shovel seemed a worthy enough weapon.Cooro Cooro I'm sorry it took me so long to get this start up! Since the beginning of his new life as Dark Mirror Sailor Avior, the golden eyed boy seemed to consistently encounter people he had met in his past life. Not past Avior, who lived thousands of years ago, but the Avior who was once forced to serve the White Moon once he awakened. And it was comforting, some what, to see those other senshi who were just like him still alive, still holding tightly onto their lives, even as lost as they were. There was no simple way of convincing everyone that the Dark Mirror Court was the way to go, with their goals of bringing peace and finding a new world that the Senshi and all other powered folk could call home.
Even so, Avior had a mission! He wanted to spread the word of the kindness and dedication that his court possessed to anyone who would listen, powered or no. Granted, he still wasn't so bold as to step out in the open. No, he would simply let encounters happen, hiding away near his favorite playground during the fading light of the day. Not many kids seemed to come around this area anymore, which was quite disheartening.. To have to grow up in this area not feeling safe seemed like such a terrible hand to be dealt, especially if one's parents were too foolish to realize that they should move somewhere safer. It would be one thing to not be able to move due to circumstance, but to actually not move due to stubbornness was something Avior just couldn't forgive!
Speaking of children, Avior could hear the soft crunching footsteps of a girl seemingly matching around as if she was on a mission. Curiosity got the best of him, and he could not help but stand up off the swing he had been sitting on and head towards her, trying to be as non-intimidating as possible. Which wasn't too hard to do since he often came across as a bit of a stick at times. Easily snapped in two!
"Excuse me, miss, but it's getting dark soon, are your parents nearby to take you home? Or are you heading there on your own? It's not safe to be out when the sun goes down, you know." The girl didn't seem too much younger than he was himself, maybe a few years or so? Either way, she needed to get off the streets and back cozy in her house.
Sunshine Alouette It's fine fine~ Thank you for Starting!

The sound of another voice startled Haven out of her determined walk, and she turned to set her gaze on the figure of a boy not too much older than she was. Another teenager, surely, perhaps with a couple of years on her, but Haven didn't think those few years made much of a difference. He wasn't even that much taller!
His clothes were a bit strange, however, and though she knew it was very impolite to stare or make such a big deal about what people wore, she couldn't help but look him over and study the unusual outfit. She told herself it wasn't rude if she was simply curious about it; it wasn't as if she was picking on him for it. She was above that sort of adolescent behavior. Still, the wings on his back were quite strange indeed.
“I can look after myself,” she insisted, her voice as confident and polite as she could make it, though truthfully she was a bit miffed that anyone should think she wasn't capable of looking after herself.
If her parents trusted her enough to let her go out on her own, then surely some strange boy she hardly knew shouldn't be lecturing her about safety!
“I'm not a baby, my parents let me go out all the time,” Haven said. It wasn't really a lie, since she definitely had their permission. She just didn't often make good on it, usually choosing to stay home with her books instead of exploring the city like this. But she could only do so much research from books and news stories. Eventually there came a time in which she had to go out and immerse herself.

"Ah, I apologize, miss, for making it seem as if you could not protect yourself. It is just.. At this hour, those with powers beyond normal comprehension come out. The go and steal energy from citizens such as yourself with any regards of the danger they put other people in. Though a weapon such as your shovel may be effective against an every day person, I do not wish to think of what could possibly happen if one of those power people who have no regards for others would come about your way." Oh goodness, he must sound like an insane person, rambling off such nonsense such as this.. Even if it was the truth.
"Do your parents understand exactly how dangerous it is to be out after dark? Have they heard of the events such as the Circus disaster earlier this year? Or of the hangings that happened down town? It's a terrifying place to be, Destiny City after dark, so why risk yourself when you could be safe at home? It is the only thing I find myself worrying about as of late.. I'm out because I want to keep others, those such as yourself and any other civilian safe from those who wish to harm you."

Haven's curiosity was continuously piqued as she listened to the boy speak. There were a few comments he made that bothered her, but only because she liked to think that she was more than capable of taking care of herself and she didn't like people treating her as if she were just some little kid who didn't understand the way the city worked. Maybe she didn't understand, but that was why she was out here. She wanted to learn! She wanted to know from experience rather than heresay!
Still, the way he talked about it made it seem as if he knew from experience, and there was a possibility that she could learn from other people's experiences when she wasn't able to learn from her own.
“Mom and Dad don't really pay attention to the news,” Haven said, but she didn't go into very many details as to why. Talking in depth about her family life with a stranger didn't seem to be an especially smart idea.
“You talk like you're not just 'any other civilian,'” she observed, offering his very words back to him. “So are you one of the people with 'powers beyond normal comprehension?' What's that supposed to mean anyway? Magic? Super powers?”
It seemed entirely far-fetched, but of course monsters had seemed far-fetched, too, and she already knew those weren't a figment of her imagination.

"Sometimes it is better that way, I suppose. The News is far too depressing at times.." What he wouldn't give to be able to just bypass all the saddening and disheartening things that consistently flickered across the television or newspapers. It was so hard to actually find a little light or a little bit of hope to cling to. That didn't mean he was going to give up though.
"Magic, super powers, natural inborn phenomena, I can't say for sure. But yes. I am. There's a bit more to it than just having powers, it's more like.. Having silly clothing to go along with it. Call it a uniform, if you will. My powers are more of Defensive though, As I can Summon Invisible walls. Yes, I'm sure the word 'invisible' is very convincing, but it's there. I could show you, if you want." His walls were his first powers, of course, and his strongest ability.. It would be absolutely cruel to even consider using it on anyone who did not earn it, so why even mention it.
"Many other's have much more dangerous powers than I do. Some can spit fire, other's can send people into hysterics. I've even met a person who could summon wasps from their hands. Then again, that person never did have their powers under control."

Any other thirteen-year-old, and certainly a child years younger, would have been amazed to hear things like magic and super powers being talked about as if they were normal, but Haven, though intrigued by the thought (and continuously suspicious that she was being led to believe things that weren't true), kept her expression impassive as she continued to observe the winged boy.
His “uniform,” if that was what he insisted upon calling it, was a strange assemblage of green and black and gold fabrics, with gold cuffs at his wrists and a transparent layer that drifted nearly down to his booted ankles. It was not the sort of costume one usually saw around town, yet Haven also knew there were people who enjoyed dressing up in otherwise odd attire. Harry Potter fans or people who liked to watch Japanese cartoons. This guy could easily be one of them, joking around with her and trying to make her believe stupid things for his own entertainment.
But, again... monsters.
She watched him suspiciously as he spoke, and tried to imagine the powers he was explaining, but it still just seemed silly to her.
“Show me then,” Haven challenged him, in an imperious tone of voice that made it clear she wasn't sure if she should believe him or not (or didn't want to believe him; one or the other). “If you can make invisible walls, show me an invisible wall.”

The sound of Avior's soft laughter sounded slightly peculiar as it bounced off the snow around them. For anyone who had seen or met the boy before, it was uncomfortable sounding, almost forced, though earnest it was. But perhaps to Haven, it sounded condescending.
"It's a little difficult to simply SHOW you an invisible wall. After all, it IS invisible. But I understand what you are requesting, and I will show you."
Personally, he hated the words he had to call to summon his walls, so instead of shouting them like so many other senshi did, he simply muttered softly to himself, giving the ground between himself and the girl a slight tap. No need to punch the ground, it wasn't a bad guy now, was it?
Though blind to Haven's eyes, Avior could see the wall before him, glinting with the ambient light around them. Transparent, and tinged a slight violet to him. He held up his hand, placing it flat against the wall.
"Go on then. Try to walk towards me with your hand extended. You won't get too far." Unless she decided to walk around it. But of course, she needed to find out where it was.

Haven didn't like being laughed at.
Kids at school laughed at her, and though she told herself she didn't care about them (it wasn't like they were her friends anyway), she couldn't deny that it bothered her to be picked on. She didn't think she deserved it; it wasn't like she'd ever done anything to them, except maybe be a little too pleased with herself when she happened to receive the highest grade in the class. But she didn't do it to gloat or show off, and the only one she lorded it over was Peter, but that was only because they were in steep competition. Why couldn't she just be pleased with herself for doing a good job?
Having someone she hardly knew laughing at her, especially in the manner this boy was, grated on her tender feelings. She frowned deeply and backed away a step, and glowered at him until he stopped and muttered something and tapped at the ground.
She sniffed pretentiously and tried to keep the imperious look on her face. At his encouragement, rather than stepping forward and reaching out with her hands, Haven marched on as if she intended to walk right passed him.
Only to run into an invisible wall.
Startled, Haven took another step back to regain her composure, having dropped her snow shovel upon impact. She looked around her to try and see what sort of trick he'd pulled to accomplish that. But she couldn't see anything, and when she finally reached out as previously encouraged, her hands encountered a surface that felt solid enough, but would not present itself to the naked eye.
“How did you do that?” she asked, and tried to sound more skeptical than amazed.

Why did she not listen to to him? Then again.. It always was rather difficult to explain magic to someone. Sometimes even when you see it, when you feel it, it's not enough. But she did try and test out his little wall, quick enough before it dissolved away. Avior did his best not to look smug, or try to offend the girl in anyway; too often he had that experience where he couldn't help but treat even the slightly younger kids as babies, always wanting to protect them and what not.. But not right now. Right now was the time to teach and be kind about it and calm about it.
"How'd I do it..? Now that's a question I never quite understood myself. The cheesy thing to say is that we all have a power inside of us, but if you are from a certain.. Special place in a past life, or something, you are able to tap into this power. Well, with the aid of something that is a cat. But they are useless, cruel creatures who don't care what kind of life you lead, or how old you are. They awaken this power that resides within yourself, and tell you you must fight." Maybe the bitterness in Avior's voice was far too obvious, but.. At the same time, it was important for the girl to realize that not everyone who has magic is happy.
"Ah, but still, i bet it sounds insane, doesn't it? You've seen it now, what do you think?"

Haven still seemed skeptical, and continued to look at the boy with a level eye.
“A cat made it so you could do magic?” she asked disbelievingly.
She had a momentary image of a wart-covered witch and a skinny black cat slinking about its legs, but dismissed it as silly and banished it with all the other silly images that should remain back in the memories of her childhood. This was quite obviously nothing like that.
With the invisible wall no longer in place, Haven had nowhere to put her hands. Instead of leaving them hanging loosely in thin air, she crossed her arms over his chest and tried to look like she didn't believe him, while her brain was working a mile a minute trying to fit pieces together. She'd seen the monsters before, she'd heard people talk about the strange people in the city, Peter had talked about knights and magical terrorists and had even said he'd met one before. Certain things didn't add up, but she couldn't deny the possibility that she was being told the truth.
“I know about the youma,” she said, and used the word Peter had told her with confidence, watching the boy's face to see how he would react to her knowledge of otherwise foreign words. “They're not stupid kiddie monsters. They're controlled by people, and they take energy and souls. And I know there are people who fight them. You mentioned it. The special place in a past-life. That's where they come from. Is that where you're from?”

"In a sense, yes. It had some sort of alien technology that awakened a dormant power. I think it's more about aliens than being witches or wizards or any sort of magical thing. I mean, yes, still magic, but to be a senshi, to be a cat like that, or do be anything of the sort.. It's essentially Aliens." That's what it meant to be from somewhere that's not originally your home, right? When this was first explained to Avior, it wasn't hard to believe, having been taken from his own home and forced into America, where everything seemed so much faster and more cruel than his simple village back in India. Somewhere he just didn't feel like he belonged. Not difficult was it to just scale it upwards to an entire planet for himself.
Youma? The girl knew of youma? How terrible of a world.. He really hoped she hadn't had some sort of terrible experience with the creatures. But seeing her out here at this time, bravely going about with her shovel, that couldn't be the case. Unless she was just.. Insanely brave for her age. Still, Avior couldn't hid the frown on his face when she mentioned them.
"Not at all. Avior is a planet that went untouched by these monsters. How do you know so much, yet still brave the night? It makes me more and more worried for ones like you, those without power. Ones who just cannot stand up to such powered creatures like that. Yes, you may think you are indestructible, that you can defend yourself, but it is just not true. I've seen people hanged from rooftops just for fun by some of these people and their monsters. Maybe I'm overly upset about it.. But I just don't know what to say anymore. It may seem irritating to hear, but I am concerned for your safety." His own arm came up to grasp at the other elbow, as he stood there, shaking his head slowly. This was one of those situations that Avior just didn't know how to handle. Certainly the Negaverse wasn't technically his enemy, but he wasn't about to simply let this little one go about without understanding their insanity. It was the stuff of nightmares.

“They're not aliens,” Haven argued. “How are they aliens if they're born on Earth?”
She didn't know what version of the story she believed. Haven didn't even know how many versions of the story there might be, but the best way to get that information seemed to be to reveal bits and pieces of what she'd already heard, and listen to what responses she got. At some point she'd come upon the truth. She just had to weigh the arguments and piece together the information as it came to her.
It struck her momentarily that this might be dangerous. She didn't think this boy was one of the Senshi or Knights Peter had told her about, the ones that were essentially good but somehow got a bad name. This boy didn't seem bad, of course (not yet, at least), but something about the way he spoke of these things made it seems as if he wasn't necessarily fond of certain aspects of it.
Not that she could really blame him. It definitely didn't seem like fun and games, and the monsters she'd seen previously certainly weren't.
“I can take care of myself,” she insisted, and tried to explain how she knew what she knew without involving other people. “I've... heard things. People spread rumors at school. About people losing energy and falling into mysterious comas. People turning up dead. And I've seen youma before, not because I wanted to,” she said, though the truth was she'd been in the process of seeking one out when she'd come across this boy, “but it's hard to go anywhere without hearing things or running into something. I'm not going to just sit at home and pretend like I don't know anything. The more people know, the safer they'll be. That's why I go out looking for things. I want to know what to expect. I want to know how to defend myself in case I ever end up in a situation like that.”

"Alright, perhaps the word 'alien' might not be the best. How about extraterrestrial? Just because you were born on earth, does not mean that you originate here, right?" It was the same as if someone had crossed the border from one country to another, in his mind. How much of that was conveyed, he wasn't entirely sure, but if she wanted to bother him more about his explanations, he was more than willing to do so. It was not often that people wanted to truly hear his thoughts.
And yet this girl was still as stubborn as a little ginko tree struggling through the cracks in concrete.
"How can you say you can take care of yourself when you don't even seem to understand what you're going up against? It's not all magic. It's people who are INSANE. It's people with weapons that could kill you in an instant and not even blink about it. It's not as if that you shouldn't know about it; of course you should! You should know, and you SHOULD talk about it, But looking out on your own like this.. No, that's a terrible, terrible thing to do. Though I can't stop you, I do highly, highly suggest that you don't go out alone, at the very least. A friend, a pet dog, something that can assist you in any way, because no matter how much you think you are prepared, or what you may 'expect' it may not be enough." A hand came up and rubbed at one side of his temple, sighing a bit as he slowed down his frantic words.
"There's more ways to learn about this than actively seeking out danger.. My suggestion.. Camcorders at your favorite spot, or event old tape recorders that you can retrieve later. Just don't risk your own life for something like that, okay?"

Haven still didn't really believe the alien bit. In her mind, if you were born on Earth you belonged on Earth. It wasn't like people could actually live in space, in any case, even if they wanted to. Where would they go? What would they do when they were there? How would they breathe?
But she kept those thoughts to herself. Maybe it was one of those war things she, in her lack of involvement, didn't understand. She was sure this boy had a reason for saying those things, and whether or not it was true he certainly believed it to be.
“Why do you think I brought my shovel?” she said as she leaned down to pick it back up again.
Alright, so that was probably a bit naïve of her, but the more passionate he got about the subject, the more he rambled on about it and the more information she might glean in the process. She definitely wasn't dumb enough to think a shovel was going to save her from everything, and the thought of coming across someone with a deadly weapon made her feel suddenly uncomfortable about what she was doing, but she refused to show it. As long as she was aware of the dangers, as long as she was careful, she'd be alright. She knew how to take care of herself, and she knew when to back down.
“Video's not good enough. A camera can't move on its own. I can cover more ground myself,” Haven explained, even though she was sure doing so wouldn't change his mind on the matter. Instead, she attempted to change the subject, hoping to distract him from another lecture. “So what's your name? And what are you? Which of the alien or not-alien people are you? How long have you been doing this? Have you always? Or did you get pulled into it?”
