History: Maria was born to Katharine Covarn in a small town in Georgia on the Atlantic Ocean. Katharine had inherited a small beach side home from her parents and it was there that she raised Maria. No one knew Maria's father and Katherine never revealed the identity of the man. Katharine was a graduate from Georgia State and worked at a law office as a secretary. However, her true joy was spending time on the beach and her daughter was much the same.
Maria had a normal life besides being an only child and the occasional object of gossip in her town. She spent a great deal of her free time on the beach. Everything seemed relatively normal until she was eleven and attacked by a harpy on the beach. She had thought she was going to die when she noticed in the sand a saber and grabbing it she struck out and managed to defeat the harpy. It was then she learned of the fact from her mother that she was a demigod and was taken to Camp Halfblood for her protection.
