xxxxThe Kyōgoku (叫谷, Valley of Screams) is a dimension that was formed between the Human World and the Soul Society. The Valley of Screams is a dimension formed from the souls ejected from the circle of life known as Blanks. Its appearance is a regular occurrence that happens naturally due to souls getting lost trying to get to Soul Society and as such, can only be accessed from the Human World. Blanks resided in this place, separated from their memories.This realm has stayed relatively unexplored for a long while. The Soul King has assigned the Gotei to only enter the realm if the number of blanks begin to grow in an exponential rate. If this were to happen, and the number of blanks were to overrun capacity, the gentle separation of the Dangai would collapse and Soul Society and Human World would collide into one another. The Gotei has assigned Squads Five and Nine to patrolling the area monthly and to exterminate blanks.

[Blanks | 欠魂 (ブランク), Buranku]

The Blanks appear to be large, white ghosts with pink pin-shaped heads. Their appearance changes only when they are attacking, changing their head's color red, and revealing red arms and hands. The Blanks (欠魂 (ブランク), Buranku; Japanese for "Wan/Lacking Soul") are Souls without memories that live in the Valley of Screams. Blanks are instinctively attracted to memories. Unlike Pluses, Blanks do not have Chains of Fate, and are unaffected by Soul Burial.
