((Feel free to get the song stuck in your head. And join in if you own any member of the Wonderland families~ ))

Amazing how so much could change in so little time. Heh, time. What a concept. Pushing back the curtains to the front window, he looked outside to see the outline of the Ferris wheel and some of his favorite coasters against the afternoon sun. They were still near enough to enjoy the Park, just a short walk away really, but with the kids they really needed the extra space. Of course he'd magicked one of the doors to open to his room in the Park anyway, and still went there often enough, so he was always a short hop away. Though with this many rugrats, he'd kept it locked to prevent any accidents. Heh, him, cautious. But damn it all, he was gonna get it right this time.

Turning away from the sun's glare, he picked up Cali out of the playpen and balanced her on his hip, sticking his tongue out at her playfully as he meandered over Alice to nuzzle his mate. It was good to see her happy again. Worried, sure, but so was he. But there was happiness there too, and he couldn't help but grin. This had felt like a far away dream not so long ago, but here he was. Finally home.

-----------------------------------

Emei tried to take a few steps before collapsing again on top of her fur; she dragged it everywhere like a baby blanket, the poor thing needing quite a few washings for it. But for now the toddler was still practicing her balance in the playpen, her eyes on the stuffed toy cat about halfway across the room and near Spada. She reached out a hand towards it as if she could just summon it to her to snuggle.

Of course that didn't work though, so she got up and tried this whole walking thing again, making little grunts in her efforts.

Spada wasn't upset; not really. But Alice was too far away for his liking, and the small little groans and whines as he tossed his head back were enough for annoyance to hopefully get her within his chubby hands' reach. He was bouncing, using the edge of the playpen for his balance, when he seemed to have discovered the joys of flexing his fingers. Landing with a dull thud, he formed little fists and watched, wide-eyed, as his fingers curled under his control.
But Alice.
Caught between two different, exciting things, he started taking deeper breaths, the precipice of wailing, to get his proper hip-balanced position against his mother's side, or at least clinging to the hem of her skirt.

It was hard to believe so little time had passed... though sometimes it felt as if she was living an entirely different life than before.

Although she had made leaps and bounds towards a recovery, Alice still found herself occasionally distracted, sometimes adrift in her own thoughts, though it was never quite as difficult as before to pull her back into lucidity. Flashes of another life occasionally plagued her waking thoughts- Boris had charmingly dubbed them 'episodes'- where the fear she had tucked away would once again become crippling, until warm arms and whispered oaths would pull her back into the present and anchor her to this world. Boris was a balm to her injured heart and frazzled mind, and she found herself reaching for him when the dark whispers became too much to handle.

Despite the fragility of it all, Alice found herself smiling more often, even laughing as she once used to. Guilt still plagued her for denying Dinah the mother she deserved and saddling Boris (though he vehemently denied it a chore) with the burden of her own care, but she felt lighter than she had in years. With the news of her new pregnancy, a new terror had plagued her... but seeing them all, safe and loved, Boris with a toddler in his arms and smiling lovingly... everything felt like perhaps, it may be all right now.

Smiling at Boris as she felt the nuzzle to her neck, she reached up and threaded thin fingers into his hair for a brief scratch at his ears before he pulled away. Feeling a tug on her skirt, teal eyes dropped to the quite vocal child at her side, and she couldn't help the warm, bright smile that spread across her face, as she bent to scoop him into her arms and hum softly to him.

Aruval sat in the corner of the play area, sulking as she watched her father pick up one of her sisters instead. Her ears lay flat against her head, though she was distracted after a moment by the flicking of her own tail.

Calico had been resting at first, before her daddy lifted her. Her eyes had spotted a strange object, rectangular in nature with beautiful colors and symbols across the front. Inside seemed to be white paper, and yet, Cali didn't understand that. Not yet. All she knew was that she wanted it. However, she never was one to cry or fret, and so had taken to sitting on the floor and peering at the colorful object with curiosity.

However, her father came over and he immediately became the main attractor of her attention. Small hands rose, extending for her father as he lifted down and picked her up. A sweet, pleased giggle left the small babies mouth as she delightfully stuck her tongue back out at the man, hands gripping his clothes and head nuzzling into him once he had come over to Alice. She briefly leaned forward to peck her mother with a kiss when her father was close enough, and then returned immediately back to nuzzling into her father.

Ah, things were good for the little baby. Growing up seemed so far away, and she didn't need it as long as she could be held like this by her beloved parents.

Bell was distracted trying to catch the fish pendant hanging off his father's tail. It was shiny, and he wanted it. It was the same golden color as the jingling bell he dragged everywhere, and Boris' occasional tail movements made it all the more inviting. Had he been able to reach it, the next course of action would probably have been chewing on the piece of metal.

He was just about able to stand without support now, but walking was beyond his abilities. He reached up, stretching as tall as he possibly could, but Boris was far too tall for the little boy. A few times, he thought he was close to grabbing hold of his father's tail, but just as he'd reach a bit further he'd fall on his nose. After several failed attempts, Bell simply puffed out his cheeks and crawled away with his fur boa, loving his own just as much as Emei hers.

He settled down near Alice's feet, trying to chew on his bell but not managing to fit it in his mouth.

Xiphos was unsure of what he wanted. Did he want his parent's attention? Or would he rather just quietly play with the blocks that had been provided. Or was it perhaps the various shinies on his father's boa? Or was it his sister? He sure didn't know, and it was making the little guy so confused. He cried and cried, tiny little mind spinning from all the things he might want, and needed the soothing of someone, anyone!

But who was going to provide?

Mary was starting to fit in to fatherhood better than he had thought. He was happy to pick his little girls up and whirl them around, only to put one down and pick up the other for the same treatment. It didn't help that Alex in particular was demanding of his attention, squealing excitedly when she felt like she was flying, only to laugh and hug her papa tight, begging for another whirl.

Of course, it ended up with three dizzy Gowlands, and nowhere to relax. Except for Boris' room. It would be nice for the girls to socialize, wouldn't it?

"Boris! Playdate! They've knocked the wind out of me!" He breathlessly grinned, a girl on each side. Proud papa indeed!

Alex was a little bit shy about leaving her papa's side, clinging to the bottom of his jacket as she peered out at the many, many Airay children. She didn't know what to say or do, folding her ears back and looking up to her papa before getting a reassuring pat on her head. Only then would she glance to her twinsib, wanting the far more confidant Diamond to lead.

No sooner had he been lifted, Spada was silenced in a heartbeat, quickly nuzzling against his mother's neck as his thumb found its way towards his mouth, his eyes going half-mast as he fought off sleep, making sure he wasn't put down. The excitement of new people, however, had them widening, but otherwise he made no attempt to greet them. If they wanted to see him, they would come to him, because he was with his Momma.

Diamond's actions were duplicate of her sister, clinging to her father's other side. But that was where the similarities ended, as Dia was curiously eyeing the Airay children with her ears erect, almost excited.
Almost.
To ham it up, she squealed and approached the closest infant, looking back at Mary with a sparkle in her eyes before plopping on her butt on the floor in front of Xiphos, smiling all the while.
From who knows where, Dia had a cookie in her hand and was trying to offer some to Xiphos the minute she thought Mary wasn't looking. She had snuck it earlier and she didn't want him to know, whatever the reason being.

Ruger:
How he hated using these things. It was a little easier using a door already enchanted than fashioning his own, but the knowledge of what he was doing, and where it was going...

Ruger sighed and stared at the wall of his workshop for a moment. He couldn't wander through the doorway with his mind a mess, he'd end up lost again. The thought made him snuggle further into his boa. No, no. Clear thoughts, clean lines. The straight edge of a shotgun barrel, or well-polished steel. Perfect and without mar. Open the door. Walk into Boris and his... step-mother's... Alice.

He sighed and paced around the room again, trying to choke down all the things he wanted to say to nobody in particular. What would they care? He wanted to forgive. He wanted to forget! Hadn't leaving the old house and getting his own place, his own shop, been proof of that? So why couldn't he just... just let go...

Frustrated, he ran both hands through his hair and scuttled over to his work bench, pounding on it a few times with an open palm as if he could tamp his unruly thoughts back into place. This wouldn't do. They were family, and though he'd seen the little ones before, if briefly, this was supposed to be a big occasion. He hated crowds but, if not for family, what was he fighting his demons for?

Fighting the urge to collapse and just let the dark wash over him for awhile, he took a shuddering breath and came back to square off with the door. Such a harmless thing by itself. Just a long rectangle of wood with a simple, brass handle. Fit into it's own frame against the wall, and leading nowhere. And everywhere.

He could do this. Twist the knob, throw the door wide, walk through, and walk into the sitting room he knew was on the other side. One of many things that could be on the other side, but that wasn't a thought trail he wanted to pursue. Clean, clear lines. Twist the knob, throw the door...
Ok, ok. Deep breath, here we go.

Ruger Colt reached for the knob with a trembling hand, following his own mantra to a T, though his tail was a long, fluffy bottle-brush as he did so. Shuddering as he closed the door, he looked around at the small room that held a few chairs, a modest table, and some bookcases. Calming himself, he marched over to the only other door, one that would only lead into the hallway, and thank god for that, and unlocked it with the key that every adult in the family had been given a cast of. The door was locked so none of the young ones would accidentally stumble upon the pre-enchanted door, but Ruger still felt pale thinking of it being in the same house with his young step brothers and sisters. Or them eventually opening their own doors... perhaps going through the same things he went through.

He couldn't help his ears laying flat against his skull as he locked the door behind him and followed the sound of all the ruckus. Stepping over a baby gate with the typical family grace, he was a little taken aback at first. Such a crowd, already, and not everyone was here he could see.

"Hey Boris, hey Alice."

The wailing stopped suddenly, and he looked over to the sudden absence of the din to see little Dia sitting with Xi. He smiled, thinking back on his own childhood. He hadn't seen his siblings in ages. His older ones, he meant. Ah, even his thoughts were going to be awkward today. Not much help for it.

"And a good afternoon to you too, Gowland. I see the kids are looking well."

He smiled warmly at Alex, having an easier time directing his attention to her than the adults. Seemed most of the kids were accounted for... except young Aruval. Dodging the obstacle course of childhood things, he swooped down to sit beside her, rather than picking her up without her asking for it. Wasn't polite after all.

"Hey Rue, how are you today?"

Boris:
Tilting his head to give his mate better access, Boris purred briefly, a warm and deep sound, as her fingers found a good spot. The attention was over much too soon, but there was little he could do about that. Perhaps later, but not now. He almost missed seeing Cali lean out to kiss her mother, and something about the innocent gesture made him grin widely. This felt... right. Happy and whole. Confusing and messy too, but hey, what was life without chaos besides boring?

Straightening up as Alice scooped up their son, the Cat turned to greet his friend with enthusiasm.

"Hey old man, try having a whole litter!"

He winked as he tilted his head towards Dia, who had dashed off in Xi's direction with obviously pilfered goods. It was innocent enough, and it always amused him how the kids thought that somehow their parents didn't know.

"There's extra juice boxes and snacks in the kitchen if Alex and Dia are hungry, we have plenty I'm sure."

He snugged Calico again for good measure before setting her down so he could greet Mary properly, offering his hand out to pull him into one of those bro hugs.

"Glad you came, and it's good to see so much life in one place. They've done wonders for you, old man."

Emei:

Falling down again, she frowned and balled her tiny fists in frustration. How come it looked so easy? Babbling to herself, she crawled over to the wall and tried again, this time standing for a full minute before trusting her legs to carry her a step. She wobbled, but held firm, her tail snaking out behind her for balance. Another step sent her crashing down again though, and she looked torn between setting up a keen or laughing that she made it that far.

((figured I'd bring in Keris and Bale on my next post, since wow, much family.))

Dee headed the max exodus from the Hatter Mansion; he, Dum, Keris, Marise, and all of their kids were headed to the amusement park. The Tweedle army was going to visit the Cat, Dee grinned at his own thoughts and looked at his family. He was super excited to see Big Sis again. And Boris, of course. "You think Boris will want to play? Or is he gonna be too busy with his new kittens?" Dee swished his tail.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 21, 2014 5:03 pm

So on threat of getting his pay cut, and dee’s vacation time taken away they had finally been warned by blood that they needed to go and check out the amusement park especially with the influx of people showing up. Of course some how work turned into the whole family was going. Worked for him, he tilted his head towards his brother as Dee asked about playing “mmm boris doesn’t play to often any more, and probably going to be busy with all the babies, still boris does more funny things now so he’s not totally boring” Dum mused aloud.

Pen yawned having been actually getting sleep when he had been dragged out of bed. He was currently walking behind his dad in his early teenage form, his adult form being too much effort at the moment. He wasn’t quite sure why all the family had to go and see Uncle Boris. Perhaps one of the new babies would be fun and he could teach them to play tag, safely of course until they were older he would have to find some way to make it less dangerous.

Keris strolled alongside the twins and dear Marise, her tail twined around her waist to stay out of trouble during their trip. Apparently the old Cat had another litter of kittens, and for a moment she was jealous of his good fortune.

Looking back at her kids, though now grown, she smiled before turning her attention back to the boring path. Shrugging as Dee and Dum speculated, she only remembered a little bit about her grandfather.

"I think living Outside changed him too much. I haven't ever seen him play any fun games, so I don't know. Maybe some of the others there will be though, might be nice to play tag through the amusement park~"

Bale twitched an ear as he marched, his scythe balanced on one shoulder while he kept an eye on his siblings. Truthfully it would probably be easier to just send his weapon away, but he was just more comfortable with it on hand, especially while trying to herd cats.

"C'mon guys, move your tails."

He quirked an eyebrow and ushered them on, though not in a great rush to see his relatives either. Bale honestly wasn't sure what to feel. Adrenaline brought the blood lust to the very surface, and he never was sure how to feel about that. Riding the roller coasters would be hella fun, but then he'd want to fight, and was that ok? He really didn't know how to feel about his baby, er, 'cousins'? He scrunched his nose up in thought before sticking his tongue out at a sibling that was giving him the stink eye. Adult he may be, though teen form he preferred to wear, but maturity was always questionable.
