Mother and daughter never got to experience thier own bonding time. With three other boys, and a blind mate, it was hard to find much time for that much needed time to just be one with your own gender. Katika was happy she had found the time. It wasn't like she disliked her sons or her mate, but Ta'la'la was growing into a beautiful lioness, and with growing came the chores that a lioness would need to start doing. Such examples would including hunting for the pride, in which was something that Katika always loved to do.

Today, she decided, was the perfect day to take her daughter on the excursion. Leaving behind the boys (and the watchful eye of Linaeve, whom Kati had trusted greatly), all the other girls of the Kanesda family (Kalani, Aadi, Kati and Talala), ventured to the hunting grounds. The last of the ceremonies were still going on, it would be a great treat if the duo could take their spoils to the other clans. What a great way it would be to end the festivities.

"Ready, Ta'la," her mother asked softly, turning around to spot the tattooed lioness whispered to her bond. Linaeve had spoken of her litter of kits, and while most had gone with their father, little Aadi decided to stay with her mother. It was amazing the resemblance between that mother and daughter that there would never be a question to whether the two genets were actually related.

"Huh?" The young adult looked at her mother sheepishly, causing her bond to scuttle onto her back. "Oh...right, Yes!"

Kati shook her head. "The first rule of hunting is..."

"...To always be alert. I know." Ta'la'la finished.

"And the second rule..."

"...is to make sure you bring down the prey?" Ta'la'la offered. Katika shook her head.

"Always think a few steps ahead of your prey." The bird familiar, Kalani, had answered, swooping down to land at Katika's feet.

"Right as always, Kala," Kati praised. "If you do not, then the prey will be on top of you before you know it."

The mother had taken all four children on a little hunting trip when they were younger, and had taught them the roles of the hunt then. But with the ceremonies approaching, the lessons had stopped, and the time for mingles became upon them.

"Okay, I get it." Ta'la'la huffed. "So, that herd," she nudged her nose in the direction of the grazing antelope. "We should go for...that one?" The younger lioness was motioning towards the center, perhaps largest of the group.

"And why would you want to go for that one?"

"Because that's the largest, and would feed the most of the pride."

"Wrong," Kalani chimed, causing Ta'la'la to glare.

"Of course," the tattooed female muttered, glancing away at the accusing look from her mother. "Uhm, that one?" She pointed to a young buck, just growing his horns.

"Wrong," Kalani chirped again. Katika nudged at her bond, once again shaking her head.

"Oh, oh!" Aadi squealed. "I know, THAT ONE!" The light screechiness of her voice echoed in the small clearing, causing the deer to be on alert, including the lone antelope that the younger genet had chosen.

"Shh," Katika hushed, lowered her body to the ground. Luckily all the pelts were relatively camoflauged when it came to the tall yellowing grasses of the Ela'wadiyi lands. Ta'la'la's bright orange tattoos were a nice blend in the mix as well.

"Aadi's right. Ta'la'la, do you know why? Kalani and Aadi don't speak." The lioness whispered, still watching the choice of prey.

"Uhm..." The lioness looked up towards her friend, going cross-eyed just trying to see her. The little genet motioned with her paw that her lips were sealed.

The pause was all Katika needed before sighing. “Aadi, why?”

“Oh..uhm! Cauuuuussseee it is all by itself really. And it'll be easy to take it down?” she offered. Obviously she couldn't take down the beast that was ten times her size, but she could definitely use her knowledge of her own hunting skills. Even if it was the smaller prey such as rats and other game like that.

“Right.”

“Show off,” Ta'la'la muttered, causing Aadi to giggle.

“Girls,” the warning in Kati's voice was enough to cause the two to be alert again. “Alright, Ta'la'la, stalk you prey, creep until the opportune moment, and then...”

“Strike” Kalani cackled.

"Kalani, I got it! I don't need you to get bursting out every minute." The lioness growled, shaking her head. "Okay, go for the one by itself. Watch me."

The female did as she was told by her mother. She stalked up to her prey, finding that it was easier said than actually done. Kati found herself shifting in the tall grass, causing the slightest sound, alerting her target. When it took off, she did not know what to do.

"Go after it Ta'la!" Katika shouted with laughter.

"Oh.oh!" The young daughter took off, trying to capture the prey. But it was too late. The prey had mingled with the rest of the herd, taking off in panic knowing that they could be killed at any point.

"Darn it." Ta'la'la growled.

"That's okay! you tried!" Aadi said as she neared her bond. "We will get them next time. It's your first hunt." The genet said as Katika neared.

"Good try." her mother said with a smile. "It takes practice to realize what is going on. We will come out again when the prey aren't as spooked. Next time, be aware of what's going on. That way you can follow through with your stalking, and bring down your kill." The lioness advised with a nod of her head.

"We were just practicing anyways. There was a hunting party that went out earlier this morning, so we can snag a meal from that until we have honed your skills." Kati advised with a nod of her head. "Shall we head back then?" The female asked her daughter, the genet, and her own bird familiar, perched on her shoulder.

"I'm good." Kalani chirped.

"Me too!" Aadi. "Yeah." Ta'la'la.

"Alright. I am sure your father would love to hear about your first hunt!" Kati grinned, heading back to the location of the clan, where she was sure her sons and mate were resting.
