RELATIONSHIP STATUS Single SEXUAL ORIENTATION Heterosexual
FAMILY STATUS Poor OCCUPATION Traveling musician (lute) RESIDENCE Nomad

PERSONALITY
At her core, Niamh is free-spirited and untamed, denying common norms in lieu of wild hearts desires. She's never cut her hair, she adorns her tresses with flowers, and she feels most comfortable in the countryside, away from the hustle and bustle of cities. She doesn't like people - doesn't trust them - but a lifetime of acting and performing allows her to adapt and tolerate. She might look innocent, with her large blue eyes and dainty, flowery clothing, but perhaps that's her greatest form of manipulation, and knowing it, she uses it often to her advantage. She's much like a feral cat - cute from afar, but step to close, and she'll hiss, claw and bite. Stubbornly, or perhaps for the sake of pride, she frequently refuses help, and would never be caught dead begging.
BIO
Niamh (pronounced "Neev") was born into a theatrical family. Her parents also came from a background of actors, and met when they joined the same traveling theater troupe in their early twenties. Their love was quick to ignite and passionate, like wild fire, and when they had Niamh's older brother, they named him Aodhan, meaning "born of fire". Niamh was born three years later, and named similarly - a name that means "radiance, luster, brightness", after the legendary daughter of the sea god Manannan, a beautiful princess who rode on a white horse. Niamh's parents and her brother had hair black as night, but Niamh's hair did not darken - rather, it was fair, like her name suggested, and it seemed like fate; “Niamh of the Golden Hair".
Niamh and her family originate from Aireland (the Sunderland equivalent of Ireland). As soon as she could crawl, Niamh was on the stage, continuing her family's legacy as the next generation of actors. And while she enjoyed the spotlight and the roles, Niamh soon found she didn't want to play the role of a pawn for her family - she wanted to branch out, to stand on her own. So at the age of nine, Niamh packed up her beloved lute and joined a traveling circus. She didn't necessarily run away - she told her parents and her brother what she wanted, where she was going, and while they were disappointed, they understood that it was what Niamh needed. She was to much of an individual to follow the crowd, after all.
Fearless Niamh settled in quickly and easily, and excelled in acrobatics, and her small, light frame made her a great candidate for aerial acts. While she was well known and liked, she didn't make many friends, save for a boy just a few years holder, whom quickly became a close one. Granted, he didn't give Niamh much of a choice - he stuck to her like her own shadow, bothering her at every turn, until she had no other option but to let him in. The two were thick as thieves, once she accepted him, and were often behind numerous daily pranks. At thirteen, Niamh realized she was in love with the sixteen year old boy, and after a confession, learned that he had felt the same.
Her first love, and the only time in her life that Niamh thought she might be capable of settling down, of placing some roots. But her young lover carried a darkness inside, one Niamh didn't come to fully realize and see until three years into their romantic relationship. At first, the signs were small and subtle, easily excused or overlooked. But as time progressed, so did his antics, until he was beating her for small mistakes. When he threatened her life, Niamh realized what a fool she had been - she had trusted this man, loved him, despite everything, and he had abused and manipulated her into submission.
But no longer. That same evening, under the cover of darkness, seventeen year old Niamh packed up her lute once again, and fled to Sunderland, where she now travels between the towns, performing with her lute for spare change.
