Cedar had been running about doing errands with Soft Leaves most of the day. Okay, well they had played about in a nice little field they'd stumbled across for a good while, and she was a little tired now. Soft Leaves had gone off on it's own, and so Cedar had decided to just have a little wander to clear her mind. It was nice to have everything collected that she needed, and she didn't have to worry about eating later, so she was off simply trotting along the edge of a pond, kicking the occasional rock and singing to herself as she went along.
The soft reddish-brown doe would go from singing to humming, burst back into song. She was in an absolutely wonderful mood, and felt as though nothing would squash it today. Nevermind the fact it looked like it was going to rain any time, but perhaps it wouldn't. Sometimes the clouds threatened and didn't rain, who knew. Cedar was sure the sun would break through soon, it had been such a lovely, hot day for most of it.
She glanced about as she went along, keeping her eyes open for any other kin, or any other creatures that might be hanging about, she supposed. Cedar's mind wasn't often worried on predators, as she blended in pretty good with the surroundings generally, and she was pretty quick and darn proud of it. She lifted her muzzle to the air a little and sniffed, checking for hints of scent that might give away another creature, but supposed she must be up wind at the moment, as she didn't smell much of anything at all. Not really watching where she was going, Cedar's hoof caught a small boulder the wrong way, and she stumbled, falling to her front knees and quite nearly right on her face.
She did a big huff, half terror from the unexpected trip, and half relief from not falling flat on her face indeed. She sat for a moment and caught her breath from the scare, her chest heaving as she again stood, glancing about again.
