For those with fluffy kitties, I pose to you a question. It's of no real importance, just idle curiosity really, to know if my cat's "normal" or "odd"
As most know, Saphi is -officially speaking- a Domestic Medium Hair, on account of being an animal control pickup, unclaimed, surrendered to a shelter, adopted by me kind of cat. However, again as most know, it seems her most likely dominant breed is Maine Coon, as it's the breed she seems to fit the traits of the most -appearance-wise she's got the big round eyes, tufty ears, mane, etc.. -personality-wise she's my shadow and generally not too far away while I'm home (though granted she can't be, given the size of our home), constantly checking in with me, etc.. not a major cuddler, though in the past few months since I got rid of the carpet she has become more-so; definitely prefers play to be on the floor rather than in the air (all but no interest in dangly toys on her trees/from the door)
My curiosity, though, is about the mane. Last summer, she had a most obvious mane on her, it was rather glorious. The past couple months, though, I've noticed that it's almost non-existent. Still there, but just nothing like it was in the summer. (I live in central Alberta; summer = 20-30 Celsius, winter = under 0C -it's been as cold as -40C already this year- average around -10to-30C ) The question: Have others with fluffy felines (of the maned variety) noticed similar, with the fluff being less-so in the colder months than in the warmer ones?
August
 Last night

Also: Any tips on getting a water-resistant-coated cat thoroughly drenched? I want to give her a bath, just for the sake of the procedure, but when I tried yesterday using an inch of water in the tub and pouring water over her by the cup-full, I wasn't able to even soak her top-coat completely, the undercoat remaining all but completely dry (I combed her in the tub as well, because it's so dry and static-ey in winter that a regular brushing attempt pre-bath was impossible)
Minutes post-bath (which had to have been at least fifteen minutes), maybe a teensy touch of towelling had occurred

Sorry Ive been MIA. Holidays and all that jazz.
You know what? Im not really sure about the Mane variety. Freyja gets more of a chest run during the winter and Mister...well...Misters an odd one. He has a floofy little bib.
As for bathing, Maine Coons are tricky because they are waterproof. Freyja has a long, thin, triple coat and it takes awhile to get her drenched. :/

Shanna66 i full up the tub to the belly and then spray fluffers with the shower head until he is drenched Saphi still freaks out a bit excessively about the running water, otherwise that's probably how I'd bathe her (works well for Bella, minus filling the tub - I just spray her, shampoo her, rinse her)

It's the running water (the sound, at least) that upsets her. I might just have to start closing her in the bathroom when I have a shower -ick; one of the best parts of living alone is the open-door option - I rarely close the doors in my house

Now the thought of having to close doors is a bit stifling
