Hisako quietly moved along the shadows of the trees as the day slowly waned into evening, ears perked and alert for any sounds out of the ordinary birds and wildlife. She'd passed some soquili grazing in the meadow, playing amongst themselves...and made sure to keep her dark body out of sight. They wouldn't understand...not many did, as soon as they saw the devil's horns on her head, and the exposed bone thanks to her flesh eating disease...not even her angeni genes could stop the remarks of monster, killer, and anything else which equated her to be shunned. Yet....that was life. It was safer, for her this way too. She'd be as good as dead if she broke the fragile bones of her leg, and it was already hard enough to eat and drink when her muzzle was pretty much gone as is. Yet....she had love, in both her family and a wonderful stallion....and thats what kept her going. Seeing a bunchel of herbs growing under the shade of a rocky outcrop she moved over and began to inspect, wondering if any of these could be used for medicinal purpose, trying to decipher what kind of plant they were. "I wonder..." She whispered, wing outstretched to manipulate the plant so she could see the backside of it too. Astraea had been keeping herself busy while Mikasi was out hunting and her two daughters were exploring again. She had grown to finding a new hobby, which consisted of finding herbs for her mate so that he also didn’t have to do that when he got home and could actually rest. She enjoyed going out and actually being of use even though she was suppose to fulfill her duties in her family, she was a busy mare now. So her father kind of forgot about it and she wasn’t going to remind him either. She stopped walking when she heard a sound coming from the direction before her. She couldn’t make out what it was and she shouldn’t go towards it, but she was always a curious mare. Not really afraid of anything and always kept her head high. As she approached, she spotted the winged mare feeling a little better that it wasn’t a wolf or something that could harm her. “Hello..I hope I’m not bothering you. I heard a noise and thought maybe it was something else.” She said softly to her before her eyes fell on the plant at her feet.
“Oh you found an herb. Are you going to collect that?” She didn’t really see appearances and usually judged someone based on their inner self. After all, she was mated to a half-harpy, half-pawed mutant so even if she did base everything on appearances she probably wouldn’t now. “My manners seem to have left me..It’s been a long time since I met another. I’m Astraea, but most just call me Rae for short.” She said smiling at the other mare. Hisako had been blissfully unaware that another was approaching on her location, and luckily for her this time it wasn't someone who had been attracted to the smell of her partially exposed flesh. She'd gotten to be awfully tired of running into those with a taste of blood, and when the voice had risen up from essentially no where she felt her body jolt and her breath catch as she looked over to see the kindly face of another femme but not before she'd sucked in a gasp to make a hollow whistle sound in the bone of her face. Looking utterly frightened for a moment in time she wondered what she'd done....maybe these were her herbs, maybe she wandered on private land....maybe.....wait....bothering her? "Ah - " Hisako stammered, before catching her words as she actually listened to what this pretty mare had to say. "N-not at all!" She tilted her head down from habit, and shyness, while gazing too at the plant hoof height. "I...was trying to figure out what it was...I don't know if it'll be able to help me or not." Well, nothing truly helped, but she was willing to try anything to have even a moment away from the pain in her snout. Her eyes betrayed her though, portraying all the fear and hurt as she wasn't sure why this mare was being so nice. Maybe she was blind? No....then she wouldn't have seen the herbs. "I'm....Hisako...." The mare breathed, her voice whistling slightly from lack of lips and the way she had to speak soley on her tongue to pronounciate...a gentle clack of her teeth at each word. "Its.....really nice to meet you too, Miss...." Astraea thought maybe she was bothering this mare just from how she was acting, but then she remembered a time when she was like this. She use to be shy and use to be very awkward around others. “What is it you needed help with? Is there a wound or..” She moved a little closer noticing her exposed bones and wondering if this was what she needed help with. Could this be why she was so shy? “If your looking for herbs to heal then that is a good plan for it. It’s Thyme and that heals major wounds.” She told the mare with a firm nod hoping she was being as helpful as she could be. “I can help you if you really want some help? I’m not doing much at the moment anyway. I was only collecting some herbs for my mate.” She told the other and she was beginning to fill up the pouch he gave her. So it was time she went through it to see everything she collected. She slowly walked over to the plants and pulled it out by the roots looking at her for a moment and placing it in the satchel. She didn’t find her appearance strange even if it was something you didn’t really see everyday and most would probably run away in horror. No she was a little intrigued by how she looked. She always found the odd things to be the most interesting must like her sister Nidawi. “So what brings you out here on this cold night other then searching for something?” She asked curiously as she sat the satchel down slowly picking out each her to see what she had to take back to him and what she still needed. “Oh this is yours.” She nosed the Thyme herb towards Hisako and smiled slightly. With ears folded back as she listened politely, the mare was quick to give a nod when she'd moved just a bit closer...a wound was one way to put it....but she was sure all the herbs in the world couldn't stop her wounds from spreading. Luckily she was given some blessed bandages which seemed to hault the spread....but what if she ran into a day she couldn't find someone to rebless them....she very well could lose her life from the disease. "Kind...of..." She looked away for a moment. "Its mostly for pain. Wounds like mine will never heal." No matter how many stars she wished on...things like that were out of her leauge. Looking back she'd watched the mare duck her head to the herbs, mulling over the very kind offer. "Are you a herbalist?" Hisako inquired, having not recognized the herb to be Thyme in the first place and marveled at her knowledge. "I mean...I wouldn't want to keep you, if you had important duties..." Yet at her next question the mare found herself hot in the cheeks, her wings fidgeting against her sides. "Er...well...Like I said, I was looking for something for the pain. It keeps me up sometimes, and I hate to keep him up with my tossing and turning..." Of course, she was talking to her love interest...which felt very weird to think about, but could feel her heart give a little flutter at the thought of the pale fellow who had become her near constant companion. As she gazed at the herb pushed towards her, she looked to Astraea, eyes lighting up slightly as if she was smiling back; despite physically being unable to. Astraea didn’t know if she had anything for pain and wished so much that she could help the mare. After counting her herbs and seeing what she had gotten, she tucked them back into the satchel smiling a little bit. She was proud she found everything that Mikasi needed. “I’m not doing anything really special. I got everything I needed for my mate and now I’m free until he comes home from hunting.” She smiled at the other still seeing that she felt shy or awkward about being around her. She was assuming it was because of the way she looked and could remember very well going through a phase like that. It wasn’t as extreme as what she was probably going through, but it didn’t mean she couldn’t help her a little bit. “I don’t have anything for pain..but it doesn’t mean I can’t help you. Do you want to go looking together? I’m not a herbalist, but I do know a little bit about them thanks to my mate.” She smiled at the thought remembering when she had to go acquire herbs for him when he was sick or injured. “I don’t want to pry, but who is the stallions your referring to? A friend? If so, I can understand why you would want to dull down the pain. But don’t worry..we will find something I’m sure of it.” She smiled once more as she slowly began to walk down a path on the right side. “Come on. It shouldn’t take us too long.” She told her and thought it was a good time to ask this. “Is the pain coming from your nose and your leg?” She didn’t know why she felt the need to ask that when she already knew, but being sure of these things wasn’t a bad idea either.

"Alright, as long as it wouldn't be keeping you..." It did ease her nerves a bit that the mare was done what she'd ventured out on this evening to do, and that her being around wouldn't hinder the task she'd set out for. She'd wondered about the mate of someone as kindly as her, especially the fact she'd said he was hunting...but who was she to say, with the happiness she could see from this mare she could tell he was a nice fellow. "That would be nice..." Hisako dipped her head a little, feeling redness spread across her cheeks like wildfire as she began to walk along in sync with the pale mare down the path for more herbs. "He's......his name is Titan. You could call him a friend, perhaps a little more." Or, a lot more really....while nothing was really official, he'd proclaimed the utmost of affection to her, and she him....but it still seemed like a fuzzy dream. A part of her worried he would come to his senses and see what life with her would entail, but day by day he convinced her he knew, and was more than ready for each and every day at her side. "I don't like to worry him, but there's only so much I can take and hide." The hybrid nodded slowly, shifting her wings a little to expose some of her exposed spine too, mostly up to her hips from her short tail. "My leg isn't so bad, it was clamped to save the rest of it....but there isn't much to do about my snout and tail, just blesed bandages to slow the spread and herbs to try and ease the pain..." Astraea knew she heard that name somewhere, but where. She thought on it for a few moments before realizing where she had heard the name. She met the stallion and he was part of her family. Her family was getting so big she couldn’t even remember everyone and she didn’t even know if there was anyone else on his side of the family. “I know of him. He actually is part of my family..a cousin to be precise. If he s that important to you then you both are a little more and I’m happy. I’m really happy he has found something. He seemed so lost when I met him and I felt terrible…I couldn’t help him.” She said lightly and knew about he feud her father had with Titan’s mother. They never reconciled and didn’t think they ever would. “My father and his mother don’t get along anymore. So it kind of broke us into two separate families. But I don’t hate you or him. I prefer to stay neutral and welcome any family.” She said softly to the other mare wondering if this mare felt the same or if she would be angry at finding out this news. “I’m sorry to hear that…I didn’t know something like that could happen with a horse…but at least you have those bandages. No one ever told you anything about how to possible keep them from hurting? If not there has to be a way and I’m sure you will find it.” She continued along the path wondering just how she would even help heal them for her or take away the pain for that matter. It seemed a little impossible especially if they were always exposed like that. “Do you think your children would have the same affliction? I’m sorry if I’m getting too personal. You can tell me to stop. I just crave knowledge and this is something I have never encountered before.” She told her looking back and slowing her pace a little bit so that she was side by side with her. With eyes widening the mare was in shock as she looked to the one beside her, she knew of him? And she was family?? Disbelief streaked across her face but at the same time she became quite excited as well. "A cousin! Wow...We've not talked much about family...he told me he was only close to his mother, but had brothers and a father he hadn't seen in a long, long time. I didn't get into it, but I didn't know he had such extension." Well, she probably would have been told sooner or later, but to meet someone else in relation to him was a feat in itself. Her face faultered slightly at the news of such a rift even in his extended family...and while she didn't know how that would have felt as her own family unit was so, so small, it wasn't a good feeling. "Oh...thats really too bad. My own family is so small, I couldn't imagine if any of us didn't speak....it would be so, so lonely." Her family was all she had, really, aside from the new addition of a certian stallion. "My mother said we conceived under hallows eve, where darkness and trickery are abounds. I ended up like this, my brother's mane is living fire which burns him daily, and my sister suffers from spike protrusions....while my parents are well.....normal...kind of. I don't know if I have children that it will or wont pass down because of how I seem to have gotten this curse....but i'm worried to ever find out; and put them through what I go through." She sighed, while children had never crossed her mind before; with the introduction of outside love and affection into her life it did. Yet....how could she do it knowing there was a chance? How could she though deny Titan children if he so wanted them? Shaking her head she glanced to Astraea again. "Your curiosities don't bother me...i've never really had anyone who wanted to know more about me....we only know so much about what happened, we were lucky to stumble upon an angeni to bless the bandages to slow it down; no amount of healing, potions or medicine has been able to cure, or reverse the spread." The mare let out a small breath but closed her eyes in a moment of peace. "I'm really lucky i've lived this long though with how it was spreading as a filly, it'll take my life someday, but it looks like I have some years ahead of me as long as I can keep getting the bandages blessed." A smile crossed the mare’s lips at Hisako’s excitement and really liked to see others so happy. “He wouldn’t really know about all the family he has so that is probably why he never mentions it. On my father’s side there is a lot. I have a lot of siblings and it feel nice to be a part of such a big family.” She smiled thinking about her other nine siblings. She couldn’t believe there was that many and a part of her wondered what Zebediah had be up to recently. “Yes it is terrible, but I am sure not all of them are affected by the separation. I know I’m not and would gladly meet anyone. “ She told her wondering if her brother would feel the same way. He wasn’t too happy when she told him she was in love with a half-harpy half-wolf mutant stallion. He nearly flipped out at her and now she had two gorgeous daughters. “I’m sure when the time comes when you do have children you will find out. But I wouldn’t think of it as a bad thing. It defines who you are even if it’s rather unpleasant..it’s something that makes you who you are. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Kids are very joyous and I’m sure they will understand.” She said softly as they continued wandering and she had honestly forgotten that she was suppose to be looking for a herb for her. “My two daughters wondered why they don’t really look like me, but eventually they grew to understand. My daughters were a wish that I made to the stars and it came true. Even if your children do get your affliction they will never hate you. How could they? You’re their mother. They will love you no matter what.” She was mostly talking from her motherly instinct at the moment.
She stopped at a rather large tree and nosed the ground a little bit seeing the lush growth of herbs there. “This should help with the pain and irritation from the wounds.” She told her lightly as she plucked them out of the ground and stuffed as many as she could into the satchel. It did sadden her to hear that this mare might not live a full life because of what was happening to her. She wouldn’t know what to do if something like that happened to her. “I’m sure you will be fine. Keep your head up and stay optimistic. Even if you have the worse pain some days, you just have to keep thinking about your family, friends, and Titan. Then I’m sure you will find the strength to fight whatever it is that is doing this to you.” She nodded as she looked into the distance giving a small sigh. “We should find a nice spot to rest do that I can grind this down into a powder..do you know of a place?” She asked curiously.
"True as that may be...maybe he'd be happy to find out he has more kin out in the world. I know I would be...well, glad to meet more like you are." Hisako thought it was just wonderful and told a lot of her character, yet she could see it clear as day. Yet even as the topic switched to children she still had her doubts. She didn't know as a mother if she could handle her child being in constant pain, she just wasn't strong enough to watch someone suffer like that, like she did. It was different when it was one's self....but a peice of your own heart? No....she'd surely lose it. "We'll see...I don't know if i'm strong enough to risk it. Strong enough to not blame myself if it happened to be so, I wouldn't want anyone to suffer....especially someone I would love like a child." Hisako tilted her head in a bit of a smile like motion. "A wish hey? I've heard of something like that, a spot where you can be granted with children! That would sure be something....Do you have more children? Like ones you've birthed?" Her daughters must have been something, even if they didn't look like her....wishes were so magical - like they must have been. Almost forgetting about the herbs she blinked when the mare pointed them out and put them in her satchel. "Thats really nice of you to say, Astraea....but I don't think the curse can be overcome by will. It doesn't make me sad though, it just means I gotta make sure to see what I can see before things get worse later on. We all leave the world, some of us a little sooner. Yet...lets go this way, I think there was a stream which seemed like a quiet spot." Fluttering her wings she trotted a few steps in that direction, looking back to the mare to see if she was coming. Astraea smiled at the thought of them all meeting some day. It would be one hell of a family get together. “If you want to let him know you can. I do not mind. It might actually help close the rift or at least let him know that not everyone on my family’s side despises them.” She said to the mare softly wondering what he father would say to her if he found this out. He was the kindest soul so she didn’t think it would be anything horrible. “I can understand that feeling. I would never wish harm on my own children and you have more then enough time to think on that anyway.” She told the other wondering what it would be like to have actual children of her own. Chosovi and Awahi were her daughters, yes, but she didn’t give birth to them. She felt like that would be a different feeling entirely. “Yes it’s quite wonderful that they are wishes. I have always felt one with the stars and when I made that wish I had a feeling in my gut that it would come true. You see…me and my twin brother are wish children as well. So I know it works.” She smiled remembering how happy Hania was when they both popped out of their baskets. “Sadly I don’t have any children that I birthed..I plan to come day, but that might be a long time from now. I don’t know if I’m ready just yet.” She was happy with her two daughters, she didn’t even know if she needed any more kids ever. “Alright I will follow you.” She smiled a little bit as she walked a few paces behind her. It still was sad to think this mare wouldn’t be with her someday. But she was right. Everything dies at some point and it was only a matter of time before she passed on as well. She hoped it wasn’t anytime soon because she still had so much to live for. There was still so much she had to do and the thought of dying scared her a little bit.

Wouldn't that be something, she thought, being allowed to witness such a family gathering and such a wonderful occasion of the possibility of mending some of the tears of their family. Perhaps it would allow Titan to feel less alone, like she did when she was away from her family; and give him the opporunity to have some other's to connect with aside from herself. They both seemed so used to the solitude...but it didn't mean she thrived for it, no, as a matter of fact she enjoyed being around others....it was just so few enjoyed being around her that was a fundamental problem. "You were!" She blurted, rather suddenly before finding herself in a fit of embarassment. "I'm so sorry...I didn't mean to be so exuberant. Thats amazing though...your family seems to have a lot of fortune when it comes to wishing and luck....my parents tried forever before they were able to conceive, and even then it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows for them with how we turned out." Yet...there was still love. For the most part....love and a long lasting struggle to not eat his own children from her dear, dear father. "I think it would be neat....to be a mom. I see lots of mares from the shadows with big bellies...but thats only a small part...the child itself is what it means to be a mom no matter where they came from." Hisako rambled, just a bit; feeling the resonation of her teeth clicking with her sentences as they walked along through the woods and around an unseen snaking path. She could smell the air getting thicker with the fresh scent of the stream...they were close now. "Do you want to have more children, Astraea?" The mare inquired, "Or, does your mate want to have more?" Astraea knew that was the truth. Her family was lucky when it came to wishing and children. She couldn’t really explain why the family was and hoped it would continue. She enjoyed her big family and hoped it would keep growing. “Yes my family has been blessed with children and to some of us grandchildren. Even if they had children under a darker sky, it doesn’t mean they don’t love any of you differently. It’s just a shame that you all seemed to have been cursed. Actually 3 of my siblings were cursed..Probably under the same kind of moon, but they didn’t suffer anything serious.” She remembered the three of them. Virgil had a mouth on his leg, Elpi had ghostly parts of his body, and their brother had spikes. It was quite an interesting addition to the family. “I think you will be an excellent mother too someday. Just make sure your ready when the time comes.” She thought about how scared she was when her daughters popped out of their baskets. She heard the sounds of water and assumed they were nearing their destination. “More kids..? I might possibly want more. I know my mate does and if he does then I can live with having some more. I actually would like to experience having a son, but I wouldn’t mind some more daughters. I love having little girls.” She smiled at the thought some more as they neared the stream looking down at it a little bit. “So let us rest here. I will crush up the herb in a moment.” She smiled to Hisako still wondering a little bit if this whole thing was going to work. Under the same moon...Hisako wondered just how many more out there were aflicted with the same kind of trickery her and her siblings, it was very interesting to hear first hoof that she knew of some. "Thats crazy....I guess I shouldn't be surprised to hear others were conceived and were 'gifted' with oddities on the same eve....but I guess it was a thought that never really crossed my mind. Perhaps there were even others out her with flesh problems like she had? It would be something to look into to say the least. Blushing softly the mare lowered herself down to lay carefully once they reached the stream, just a little off from the slow babbling waters. "I think you'll make a wonderful mom to a big brood....it sounds like your daughters are very very lucky." Yes....she'd have to be ready, if it ever came, Hisako would have to make sure her family was okay with it, and prepare with her mother on how to accustom her father so he may not try and eat them too. None the less she leaned her head down and using her still fleshed leg eased the bandages slowly from her snout; exposing the heavily destroyed flesh filled with blackened decay of long dead tissue. Luckily it wasn't too grotesque unless one was to really look closely thanks to her already black pelt...but some of the bone was still stained with partially fresh blood. It was disgusting, but she knew it would be best to air it out a little before the herbs would be appllied and the bandage put back on her snout. Turning her head a little, the mare let out a breath. "Yes.....lets rest. Sorry...its not the nicest to look at out of its bandage..." AstraeaHisakoAstraea
