[] ❧ Audrianna Hara Black ❧ []

"I am more than just a means to an end."

Although the sky with covered with dark, grey clouds the morning still seemed to be overbearingly bright. Audrianna was not a morning person, and this was obvious to anyone who knew her. Fortunately for her, the only one who truly knew her was Nymeria, and that wolf was off doing her own things away from Audri at the moment. She was never too far away though. Audrianna didn't really know what she was doing up so early. She had a hard time sleeping in her dorm last night, and she didn't want to lay down any longer. Which was a surprise; sleep was one of her good friends. Now, Audrianna did love the outdoors and getting outside, but night hikes were more of her scene than the hot, bright day ones. What had brought this young exorcist to the park was another good question. Audri didn't really know why her legs had brought her here, but they did. She traveled through the bright daylight and the snow to get here, and now she felt as though it wasn't even worth it. What was there for her to do at a park? Audri didn't mind the snow so much as she did like the cold. It was the blasted daylight.

Audrianna was slightly happy when she arrived at the park, though. Considering it was a Friday morning most of the families would be at work with children in school. The park was absolutely empty, and it was one public place Audri knew she could find solitude at this time of day. With the snow lightly coming down, it wasn't an idle time to go to the park, anyways. Audrianna was sitting at a picnic table bench facing away from the table. She leaned back to where her back rested against the table and her right and left elbows rested on top of the table as the rest of her arms down hanged limp. She was looking up towards the roof of the patio area she sat under, knowing the snow was hitting it ever so softly. She began to think about the exorcist team she had been assigned to. Ignazio was the leader of her team, and she would be happy to follow him. She wasn't much a follower, but when the students defeated that Hydra she knew she could trust Ignazio's orders. He was smart and for some weird reason he actually liked Audri. She was also secretly happy that Lloyd was on their team, because he proved to be a skilled asset with his familiar. Her other team member she did not know, and was curious to see exactly who the person was. She had to admit to herself, though, it would be odd facing off against Victor, Alex, and Homura. They had fought along side each other and were able to see each others' strengths, as well as weaknesses. Plus, although Audrianna did enjoy her isolation, she did feel as though they all grew closer.

Audrianna then looked down from the roof as she let a sigh out from her lips. What was she saying. Teams? Friends? Audrianna couldn't get that close with anyone. Alex already had her suspicions about Audri's powers already, and she couldn't get close to a group and have them discover who she was. It wasn't so much that she was afraid how they would treat her anymore, as they seemed to treat Homura okay enough, it was more so the fact that she didn't know where her heart fell. If she got close with the exorcist students and her father came to Earth to take her to Gehenna, they would convince her not to go and then try to kill her father. She just couldn't handle that. Plus, if she did return to Gehenna with her father and found that was where she truly did belong and her friends tried to fight her, she couldn't have any remorse or weakness about fighting back. It wasn't that Audri was fully considering siding with demons, she doubted very much her father would ever come for her, but she didn't really side with humans either. She is always looking out for her own skin. She would help a human or demon in need if they were near, but she was no saint. If her father wanted her to rule beside him Gehenna, she couldn't honestly say she would say no.

Audrianna tapped her foot slightly in her combat boots as she thought of a song in her head. The song she was thinking of was one you would not expect for her to be singing in her head. It was rather artsy and poltical, and most people just assumed she was into death metal. Though she did enjoy her rock music, she enjoyed other music as well. She loved things like Broadway and musical theater, but she would never openly admit it. It was nice for Audri to be outside for once, enjoying the air instead of fighting something that was trying to kill her.

There teams had been decided, and it seemed as though he would once again be working alongside Ignazio and Audrianna. He was fine with working alongside the two of them since their battle with the Hydra, but there was another member of their team who he had yet to officially meet or even hear about through others. Once again, he wore his white trench-styled peacoat, and as the snow fell onto it, he could only smile as it seemed to add an extra thin layer to his coat. On a normal day, he would have had a hat on over his head, but having finished walking around the Academy for a bit, he was rather hot, and as the blood continued pumping through his veins, he felt no need for the hat. Celebron was in his arms, tails down and on one another so that he just looked like an oddly-dyed cat. Since he was actually out and about, he could not just have Durandal swinging like it was a stick, so he took to wrapping it up within a black cloth. Celebron, since moving outside the Academy with Lloyd had been following Audrianna's scent as best as he could given the weather, but ultimately, brought them to a single park.

The light amount of snow and early hour of the day meant that not many would be out and about at this time, which also meant a lot of silence. The playground before him was just beginning to be coated in snow, and as he moved over towards the swing set, he sat down, laying Durandal across his lap before putting his hands on both chains that supported the swing itself. The black gloves he wore on his hands were custom made by members of his family so that he could grip his hilt in various kinds of weather, but for now, they would give him excellent grip on the swing set. "I don't really like this stuff. Its white, taste like bad water and makes me cold. I hate winter." The little demon then went from remaining on the ground to jumping up and into his lap. "I'm sorry you feel that way about the snow Celebron, but around this time of year, it just happens to fall from the sky. Anyways, are you sure Audrianna came this way?" questioned Lloyd as he began to push himself slightly. "Not sure. I know that she came this way, but I'm not entirely sure that she's actually here. You do know I'm not a dog right?" Immediately afterwards, Lloyd began to pet the top of his familiar's head.

"Of course, and I thank you for your excellent work. While I do hope she's here so we can at least speak outside of fighting something, I don't mind siting in the park for a little while either. It's nice to get out some times." Pushing off of the ground once more, Lloyd began to swing himself slowly back and forth, letting the bottom of his shoe brush against the ground each time he moved back and forth. For now, he could only wait a few minutes for something to happen. If nothing did happen, he would head back for the Academy.

"I am more than just a means to an end."

Audrianna sat under the patio in the park, eyes closed as she played one of her favorite broadway shows in her mind. Audri had always dreamed of going to New York City and seeing a broadway show live, but she knew that was only a silly dream. The Vatican would never allow her to leave the sanctuary that was True Cross. It was no sanctuary to her, but the Vatican saw it as a Sanctuary for the outside world. With all the trouble her father Amaimon had caused out in the world, the Vatican saw no reason why they should let Audrianna roam free. It wasn't like she would travel to New York City and go Godzilla on the place, but the Vatican felt as though she would. Especially if she was influenced by the right demons. A sigh escaped her lips as she thought about her confinement in True Cross. All the other students would be allow to travel, go home, and do whatever they pleased during breaks. Audrianna was stuck in the prison cell known as her dormitory. She could probably get Ignazio to pull a few strings and have her stay with him or travel with him over break, but she didn't want to bother him, Nor did she want to be any where near that boy's father. He seemed like too much of an abrasive, conservative, straight path thinking hard a** for her to deal with for any amount of time. She could probably appeal her case to the Vatican now that she had helped the students defeat an S-class Hydra, but she wasn't a beggar. She would never beg for her freedom. She would take it on her own one day, and hopefully it wouldn't lead to too much force.

Audrianna's head fell and her eyes opened as she heard someone talking on the swings. She knew the voice well now. It was Lloyd and his demon companion. Audri had almost forgot that familiars tended to stay with their masters 24/7. With her familiar being a wolf, Nymeria was a lot more independent than most demon followers. Of course, if Nymeria was at her side all times of the day she would get annoyed, as her familiar liked to play mother. Audrianna turned her head over her shoulder to see Lloyd swinging in one of the swings. She could understand Lloyd's familiar talking, because she was half-demon of course, and it seemed as though the cat had been trying to find Audri for Lloyd. This made Audrianna want to swallow the huge lump that had been growing in her throat, because if the cat could follow her scent, did it know what she truly was? Most demons could smell her demonic aura when she was upset, but she had good control of it for the most part to where she could hide it from most demons. She would just have to make sure it stayed suppressed.

She was rather confused on why Lloyd had come looking for her. She knew it probably had something to do with the fact they were on the same team, but why did he come looking for her? If he should seek out anybody it should be Ignazio, since he was their leader. If Audrianna was honest with herself, she was scared about the teams, because she was afraid she would let her team down. With the constant restraint to hide her demonic power, she could never release her power fully. She wouldn't allow her team to fail, and she certainly wouldn't allow anyone on her team to die. This teamed exam was probably going to force her to reveal herself to the students, and the Vatican would have some choice words about that.

Audrianna didn't know whether she should call out to Lloyd, or let him find her. She wasn't one to initiate anything, and it would be very out of her character for her to yell for him. Her head turned around and she pretended that she didn't know he was there. She wasn't being rude, she was just shy. She didn't know how to start a conversation without it being an awkward mess. That, or it just came off really rude.

The sounds of the quiet but alive city along with the noise the swing set made as he rocked back and forth were actually peaceful to Lloyd. His familiar was with him alongside his very own blade, and he was within a city he had honestly come to love. While his family's castle was a much better setting, the town had a larger brand of people. Some of them had manners, and others could have just crawled out from whatever rock they called home with just a mindset of making others feel miserable like them. However, there were many things that were strange about the world that existed outside of his family's castle. For one, the population itself was blissfully clueless to the world that moved around them. More specifically, the demons that lurked around each and ever corner, and within the air they breathed daily. No matter, for as he continued swinging, he could not shake the feeling that he was being watched by someone or something. Now, as the swing began to slow to a near halt, he began to look around for whatever he believed was watching him. "Over there." With a quick turn of his head, he caught sight of Audrianna, and with a smile called out. "Audrianna!" Standing from the swings, he caught Durandal before it fell and allowed Celebron to once again climb atop his shoulders. "How are you?" questioned Lloyd as he approached.

[] ❧ Audrianna Hara Black ❧ []

"I am more than just a means to an end."

Audrianna knew that Lloyd would notice her eventually. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, she did have to learn how to play with others for the exam coming up. However, she wasn't a very good conversationalist. She could talk to Ignazio well because all they ever talked about was demonology or strategy. She could talk about subjects in school or ideas about fighting, but small friendly talk was not her strong side. What was she going to say? How's the weather? She knew exactly how the weather was, because she was sitting outside in it. It was cold, and it was snowing. What was she going to ask? What are you up to? He was obviously spending the day in the park with Audrianna, it wasn't hard to tell that. Audrianna was at a loss of words on how to start a conversation with Lloyd; perhaps she would leave the fueling of the conversation up to him.

She turned her head over her shoulder to see Lloyd approaching her. She mustered up a smile as best she could, though she doubted it was convincing. It wasn't that she wasn't happy to see Lloyd there, nor was she angry that he showed up. She was just indifferent about the situation, and her indifference sometimes came off wrong. She would try to make it through this social situation as best she could. "I am well. Taking a much needed break after the Hydra incident." By the grace of...God? Satan? Whoever was watching out for Audrianna, by their grace she was able to hide her demonic power from her classmates. Nymeria and her played it off as though Audrianna's earth attacks and abilities were actually her familiar's. This took a lot of coordination and patience, but with everyone dealing with the Hydra, they had no time to focus their attention on her. Audrianna was actually a key in taking down the Hydra, even though the group thought that Nymeria did most of the work. That was the plus side to having a familiar that had the same abilities as you.

Audrianna's head turned back around as Lloyd approached and made a stance in front of her. What were they going to talk about? Strategies? Teams? How the day has been? Audrianna wasn't entirely sure how long Lloyd could stand to talk to her anyways. She knew she had no talent with people skills. She knew that Lloyd was from a noble family like Ignazio, but she didn't know anything about noble families in Japan. She was a native of New Zealand and had only lived in Japan as a prisoner. She had no time to learn the areas noble families or landscape. She was surprised True Cross even allowed her to come as far as the park. She was surely being watched by someone, somewhere, somehow.

EXWIRE QUALIFICATION EXAM 1 – Abiel Gottschalk

Strangely today, the park is completely empty for the middle of the morning, when usually mothers and young children would be outside playing or joggers would be in the park. In the center of the park in the playground the hidden bell is located within the center of the park at the playground inside the mouth of a giant penguin slide. But reaching the bell that is hidden in plain sight won’t be very easy. Upon stepping foot into the territory of the Park, activates the giant glyph that was drawn around the perimeter of the park. Upon, the glyph activating all those within the area must obey by the rules in order to reach the bell. With the activation of the glyph the area becomes altered, turning into a swirling aura of energy before a bright flash of light engulfs the area and bringing forth the change in the area. Although the physical body hasn’t left the park, the appearance of the park itself has changed. The area around is turned into what looks to be a giant battle field in a forest with a giant hill in the background, where there is a castle of sorts. In the clearing of the forest where you’re standing there are eight men holding swords, bows, and axes, all dressed in black, behind them are men on black stallions holding either a large lance or black sword, in the far corners there are two girls hiding behind the trees with bows, and in the middle next to two people whom appear to be a King and Queen are holding books the look similar to bibles. Everyone facing you appears to be wearing the same black clothing, but in a different fashion in order to establish rank. In order to start one must have established their position on the board as either as King, Queen, Rook, Bishop, Knight, or Pawn. Once you have called out your rank, the battle will start.

These are the instructions:

King: The one whom established the position as King is only allowed to make one attack posts per post. They must wait one post in between each attack post before attacking again.

Queen: The one whom establishes their position as Queen is allowed to make as many attack posts as they want, but they will lose 50% of their mobility and 50% of their Qi, they are also unable to regain their Qi and Mobility for the length of the battle.

Rook: The one whom establishes their position as Rook is allowed to make as many attack posts as they want, but they will lose 50% of their mobility and 50% of their Qi for the length of the battle.

Bishop: The one whom establishes their position as Bishop is allowed to make as many attack posts as they want, but they will lose 50% of their mobility for the length of the battle.

Knights: The one who establishes the position as Knight is allowed to make three attack posts in a row. They must wait two posts before being allowed to attack again.

Pawn: The one who establishes their position as Pawn is allowed to make two attack posts in a row. They must wait three posts before being allowed to attack again.

Attacking Opponents:
Each time you are planning on attacking an opponent you will do the following in your post – You will provide a dice roll when you are attacking a target, the dice roll will be a six sided dice with a total number of four dice. This gives your role a possibility of 24 total, and the lowest number falling being four. The first number that falls 1 – 6 will be the opposing character you are allowed to attack in your next post. (1 = Pawn; 2 = Knight; 3 = Bishop; 4 = Rook; 5 = Queen; 6 = King) the second number that falls will indicate if your character attack landed or if it was blocked then countered. If the number that falls is even then your character landed a successful attack. If the number that falls is odd then your character’s attack will miss and will be countered and you will receive damage. The next number will indicate the type of damage. If the number that falls is odd the damage is minor, if the number that falls is even the damage is major. The total number that falls will explain to you if the target is destroyed or if it was damaged, the same will go for your characters as well. If the total number is a multiple of three then the one being injured will receive minor damage and will be allowed to play still, if the total number is a multiple of four the damage is major and the one being injured (as an actual rpc) will have to skip their next attack post. If the character being injured during the multiple of four and was an NPC they are automatically destroyed. Multiples of six is an automatic destruction and the character will be out of the game.

How posting works
Posting works the same way it does in the NPC Battle System. With one post being a dice roll and the following post being the actual action without a dice roll.

How to win
If the King is destroyed then the game will be over. If your team’s king is destroyed then you will lose and the glyph will release a massive surge of Qi shocking everyone’s body with a massive amount of electricity before giving you the option of restarting the game and trying again.

Fighter || Aria || Exorcist || Exwire

The sound of heavy breathing could barely be heard over the bustling of the city streets below. Footsteps echoed in the alleyways between the buildings in an apartment block. The violet dressed man sprinted on the residential rooftops, looking for the most direct path as he traveled. He leaped over air conditioning vents and exhausts, looking to clear them as quickly as possible without losing speed. Victor was sweating heavily now, his shirt showing signs of moisture which was why he often kept it unbuttoned. He tried to keep his breath in control by finding a pattern at which to breathe. He could see the cars that passed by on the street below but paid no mind to them. They were surely oblivious to Victor above them close to three stories high. The night was young and Victor felt that it was perfectly warm for a run. While he was concentrated on traversing the obstacles that came up, he couldn't help but think about what Alexandria had said at lunch. It would be wise to find a third Exwire to make a team but Victor couldn't think of anyone besides Ignazio or Lloyd. There were several students in their Cram classes but he never truly got to know them all. Alexandria was likely less affiliated with them than he but that couldn't keep them from exploring the possibilities. As Victor tried to recall the names of his fellow students, he stepped on a fallen tarp that had been used to cover a broken air vent and slipped. He didn't go down but he had to jolt forward to regain his balance. The act of slipping slightly upset him but he continued on anyway. It was dangerous to run like he was but it bored him to run on a track like everyone else. It bored him so much to the point of running reluctantly if he even did. Victor could see the end of the block coming up as he leaped once more onto the next building. It was quite cleared from obstacles so it gave him a good area to slow down and catch his breath. As he did, he reached the edge of the building and turned over, gripping the edge with his hands and raising his feet into the air, performing a handstand. Victor closed his eyes and attempted to simultaneously control his breathing and maintain balance. When his breathing had come into a better rate, he opened his eyes and looked down at the edge of the building. He moved his hands together to form a triangle or diamond of sorts before proceeding to lower and raise himself. These vertical push-ups challenged him to juggle balance and muscle control at the same time. His breathing added another level of difficulty but after the first ten push-ups, he had found his comfort zone. As he continued to push, a slight breeze pushed through, threatening to topple him over the edge but Victor kicked one foot out just slightly to account. After an estimated set of ninety push-ups, he separated his hands a bit more in order to reach a different area of his muscles. After a much smaller set of about thirty five, Victor began to turn himself with his hands so that his feet no longer pointed out towards the rooftop but out over the edge. He faced the next building across the street which was close to four lanes plus sidewalks away. Victor then began to fall over the edge but as he did, he gripped the wall where his hands were. He put his feet in front of him to lessen the impact as he reached the hanging position from the building. Letting out a great breath, Victor raised his chin and began to pull himself up, performing chin-ups. The existing risk of falling gave him a strange rush that motivated him to push himself further. As the difficulty increased so did his labored breathing until Victor began to grunt from the exertion. His arms began to get that familiar burn that screamed for mercy. After a while, he could feel his grip weakening enough for a fall and so he slung one leg over the edge in order to pull himself onto the rooftop. Rolling onto the gravel covered rooftop, Victor panted in exhaustion. He gave himself a minute or so before pulling himself to his feet and resuming his run. He ran along the block now, following the new street and traveling parallel to it. The jumps from rooftops became more and more taxing as his muscles began to reach exhaustion. He refused to give in until he reached his destination on the other part of the city. When he could no longer make those gaps between the buildings, Victor found a fire escape staircase and sprinted down it's steps. I really have to push myself. I can't let this opportunity pass me by. When that moment of truth comes, I want to say that I gave it all I got! Victor thought as he huffed and puffed down the stairs. He didn't skip any steps, forcing a quick adaption of footwork. Once he reached the bottom, he threw his legs over the railing and landed in a roll, not wanting to injure his working leg muscles.

Making his way down the alley, he reached the street. It wasn't very busy since it was a residential part of town and only a few people roamed the streets. It was in Victor's favor, the lack of foot traffic as he made his way down the sidewalk in a paced jog. He knew the way to the dojo he was headed to but chose a route that went around the bustling downtown streets and by the river and parks lined around it. It was lined with quaint lanterns that gave any walker a different feel than the usual functional light of the city. Victor found himself counting the lights as he ran, trying to keep his mind off the run and in rhythm with his breathing. The sound of a barge passing by let him know that he was nearby the great bridge he liked meditating under. Victor also noticed that his shirt was nearly all drenched now and pulled it off without slowing. He held it in his hand, folded and compacted and would sometimes use it to wipe away the sweat from his brow. Reaching the familiar old park bench by an intersection, Victor looked over his left shoulder, having been traveling by the right side of the road, in order to check for incoming traffic as he crossed the road. The lights were green and there were cars coming from both directions which made his sprint just a bit faster in order to make that small window. On the other side, he could see the few auto shops and tire stores of the district. Passing a welding shop that fabricated custom auto parts, Victor could see an industrial brick type building that had blacked out windows on his incoming right. That was where the school was and Victor was glad to see it. He crossed the street and began to slow his pace as his destination neared. When he was a good ten meters from the doors, he began a brisk walk. The doors were metal, painted black like it's windows but were worn as shown by the chipping paint and rust underneath it. Victor's heartbeat was high as he stopped at the door and knocked. One of the sliding doors was opened and a Victor stepped inside. This particular school specialized in traditional Chinese martial arts but due to certain licensing regulations and fees, it's owner chose to keep it a secret except to a few that would come by word of mouth. The first floor was not much but a few rooms. A changing room, a massage room and a shower room with two showers. The second floor was the actual training dojo which consisted of one half of training equipment like traditional wooden dummies, punching bags and the like. The other half was a sparring ring where the wall was lined with different types of Chinese weaponry like the staff and broadsword. The third floor was the most plain of all. It was nothing more than a few knee high tables, cushions and incense burners. It was a room for meditation and spiritual rehabilitation. Victor usually went there once a week when his schedule permitted.

Victor went into the changing room which was no longer than your average walk in closet with double the width. It was lined with cubbie holes which shelved the belongings of the ones who trained there. Victor went for his usual spot on the back right wall at the bottom. The shelf contained an orange Gi, a water bottle and a towel. He quickly pulled off the clothes from his drenched body and dried himself off with the towel before beginning to put on his Gi. As he was putting on his training uniform, Victor noticed one of the shelves had a familiar set of run down skater shoes. He took a deep breath and shook his head as he reached down to pull off his shoes. Victor quickly put his shoes into the shelf and went out of the room. Taking the matted stairs up to the second floor, Victor stretched his arms and neck. Once stepping into the dojo, he immediately spotted a pair of young men sparring on the sparring floor. One of them had short black hair that matched the color of his Gi and the other had no shirt and a simple pair of loose fitting red Chinese pants. Victor didn't offer them a glance as they fought each other, the black haired one using a Taichi sword and the shirtless one using a pair of nunchaku. The one with the nunchaku spotted Victor and gave a sly smirk but only for a second before parrying a lunch for his partner. Victor stepped in front of one of the dummies on the wall. It was mounted and had four pegs, two on top and two on bottom. The bottom half of the dummy was springy, however and moved to counter attack when kicked or punched too low. Victor warmed up with a quick hand work to the upper center of the dummy. He then began to work in variations of parrying and counter punches that switched from left to right abruptly to simulate an adapting enemy. Before long, Victor was switching from middle to high counter punches. After about ten minutes or so, he began to bring in knee strikes to the center. He would throw in a few combination punches before jabbing his knee into the dummy's side. The center of the dummy was padded but with every strike form the knee, it seemed to shake the wooden supports from which the dummy was mounted on. Trying to diversify and work in a bit of the Shao lin Tiger style, Victor would throw in his arms over the dummy's 'shoulder' and pretend that it was attempting to dodge his jabs. Using the inside and outside of his wrists, he would counter the dodging with strikes to the 'neck' and 'head'. Victor then stepped back for a short second before coming in with a swift roundhouse kick to the bottom 'legs' of the dummy, causing them to rotate and lunge out at him. He would counter the motion by kicking on the inside of the pegs, just where the inside of the leg would be, between the leg and the groin. He would alternate between right and left legs before he would begin wrapping his leg around a peg and striking the dummy up high with a punch, playing on hooking leg approach. In a normal fight, Victor could imagine catching an incoming kick and punching through his opponents low center to throw him off his feet. Victor continued with his training meanwhile the other two were finishing their spar. The black haired man was Japanese, about the same age as Victor but the shirtless man was near his thirties. He was the owner's son and typically challenged any fighter he saw there who could threaten his standing as the prodigy of the school but to look at the handful of potential candidates for 'prodigy' would suggest that the man was simply feeding his own pride. Victor could sense this but would often fall into a sparring match anyway, either through a series of name calling or challenge that involved a complimentary massage from the masseuse upstairs. Victor figured it would only be a matter of time before the man would call out his name from across the room but to Victor's surprise, the man simply concluded his sparring session with his partner and began a form training exercise using the nunchaku he held. Compared to Victor, the man was much more skilled with weapons and sometimes, grappling. To spar him that night would surely spell Victor's loss considering his recent run through the residential district.

Victor had finished his session with the dummy, leaving notable sweat stains on his Gi. He wearily walked to the stairs where a water fountain was well placed and drank from it. The water was not freezing cold, due to the difficulty of downing cold water after a workout. After Victor had his fill, he looked over his shoulder to see the owner's son looking at him as if he had insulted him by not acknowledging him. Victor felt like asking him what he was looking at but was too tired to muster the temper. He simply took a deep breath and headed up the stairs to the meditation room. The door to the room was a simple wooden door but once one went through, it was as if you entered a temple. The burning incense gave the feeling of sacred ground and the darkness would leave one feeling drowsy enough for a long nap. Victor walked down the faintly lit walkway at the center of the room. On each side were tables and cushions with incense. Victor found one to the left and made his way in the dark to a cushion behind a table. He sat down, crossing his legs in front of him and laying his arms over them. Victor then began to breath intently. He looked to concentrate on his breathing and forget what had happened that day. There was a small CD player at the entrance that played different kinds of instrumental music that would held one relax and clear one's mind. This time it played something clearly Chinese that sounded as if played by a fiddle yet more shrill. The strings were plucked at what seemed at random which made Victor give up in trying to find a rhythm in turn scattering his thoughts. After a few minutes, Victor began to focus within. He looked to follow the flow of Qi within himself but only by mind. With breathing, Victor focused on his Qi and it's flow through the channels of his body, moving from his center and throughout his body like a flowing river that gathered at a whirlpool. He began to feel chills run through on his skin, following his Qi at the surface. The experience was invigoratingly electrifying yet peaceful under all the control. The monks of the Himalayas had methods to bring about the control of Qi and Victor had been fortunate enough to be accepted enough to be allowed to watch them meditate. He remembered sensing their Qi and how well they controlled it. While they weren't exorcists of the True Cross variation, they too had ancient knowledge of demons and the world of Mana and how it affected their environment and bodies. Their sutras had considerable potency under their guidance of Qi control. Victor had once witnessed an elder monk bring to life a withered flower through sheer understanding of Mana. Victor hoped to one day reach that type of control and understanding but he knew that he would first have to overcome the demons that plagued him currently. Anger, lust, pride. These were well known and easily found at his age but to overcome them would prove a challenge unlike any other. He believed it was possible through the implementation of the Holy Scriptures and the control of his Qi through Martial arts and exercise. As an exorcist, Victor had to learn the importance of keeping one's soul protected from possession from the demons strong enough to take control over his body. Victor's old mentor used to speak to him in parables but one of the few things that he said clearly was How do you hope to keep darkness of the world out if you can not rid yourself of the darkness within yourself? As Victor lived on, he came to realize more and more what he had meant. His time with Alexandria had proved to reveal more of himself to himself and while that was something good in the long run, Victor had a hard time coping. It started alike a cold or a flu though without the tiredness. It was alike a virus that wouldn't leave him and would create symptoms within him. Then, it was alike a brand of cigarettes, simply preferred over the rest every time. The girl's beauty had once been alike a diamond in the rough had become alike the moon in a sky of stars. Suddenly, one day, he had began to fail to see anything else. And ever since, Victor had found it hard to rid his mind of her and thoughts of her. No amount of meditation or training could erase the images of her in his mind. He could trace many of those 'demons' to her yet all of his revelations to the same source. His temper had waned, his fleshy ambitions had subsided, his personal vendettas had gone silent. It felt as if at any moment, everything could tumble and crash or rise and soar. The walk down that edge was unlike any thrill he had felt before and Victor appreciated it but also feared it. The thoughts of inequities would come and go but at the moment of contact with her it all seemed to shrink away. A feeling of Nirvana or something of the nature was the closest to naming it or perhaps it had it's own distinct name? A name that Victor had once known yet forgotten along with a life of laughter and circus tricks.

Victor opened his eyes and looked around at the dark room and gently pinched the bridge of his nose. He looked at his watch and saw that he had been there a while. Getting to his feet, Victor turned and made his way to the door. He followed the stairs down to the second floor and caught a glimpse at someone else in the dojo training at the punching bags. He reminded him of a friend he once had. Victor then reached the bottom floor and made for the showers. Taking a quick shower, he headed for the changing room with a towel to cover him as he did. He then took his time changing into a clean pair of clothes that included a black T-shirt and jeans. Victor didn't visit the massage room since it was late and the masseuse had already went home so he took his leave and made his way out of the building through the same sliding metal door. Putting his hand in his pocket, he fished out his phone and looked for any new messages, primarily from Alexandria but found none. There were a few e-mails but Victor had already read through them before. He then returned the phone to his right pocket and put his hands away in the pockets too. Victor figured he would go and have dinner somewhere in town. He didn't care if he was too late for curfew, he would find somewhere to sleep that night even if that meant getting a hotel room. He walked down the sidewalk and began heading down to Main Street where the restaurants and shops were along with the night life. Even though the center of the city didn't officially start until a few blocks ahead of him, Victor decided to take the walk there. He was tired enough from the workout that he wasn't in any rush and the walk gave him time to think to himself anyway. Pulling out his box of cigarettes from his back left pocket, he lit one up and puffed on it on the way down the street, contemplating calling Alexandria on a date that night.
