Deep under the Seireitei, is an entire new world. This world which is cascaded from any light. This world is built by a rocky terrain. This rocky terrain is so jagged and morbid looking, that some dare to call it, "The Devil's Backbone". Within this rocky terrain that lies under the Sereitei, is a whole different world. A base. This base is hidden from the hustle and bustle of the Seireitei. This base that lies within it's own world, has only one name. A name that strikes a sensation of fear with anyone who hears that particular name. This base is named Aokigahara. However, right before Aokigahara is something that looks like so plain. A giant crack in the Earth. However, this "crack" is something far beyond from what you can imagine. This "crack" should scare you more than Aokigahara does. This "crack" is a Rift Zone. A particular Rift Zone that is nicknamed, "The Abyss."
The most notable of Rift Zones is none other than the "Abyss". The "Abyss" lies right in front of the base known as Aokigahara. This is where all information and bodies are "lost" for all eternity. It is also said to be the ultimate punishment.
The depth of the "Abyss" is unknown, some even claim it is infinite. However, the inside of the Rift for about two hundred feet down, is made of complete Seki-Seki stone that absorb all rashi of anything or anyone that falls through the rift. This was contracted and rebuilt by the order from Kimmimaru Kyokosaka. It is said that Squad Two lost One Hundred men when they reconstructed the first two hundred feet of the Rift Zone. None of them have returned or got back out. It would be nearly impossible to do so for any Shinigami or Spiritual Based Being.
However, being trapped alive at the bottom of an "endless" pit is not even the deadliest part. Every three days an immense fire erupts through the rift and destroys everything in it's path. The fire is so hot, that it is a blue shade and will incinerate anything in it's path. It is said between the "eruptions" that sometimes, moaning can be heard from inside the pit. This is Squad Two's version of the Sōkyoku. It is said, not even the Captain Commander can escape the hellish void. No one knows why this happens except the Captain Commander and the Captain of Squad Two.
This is also a way to kill those who have never existed or those who should have no chance of escaping.
