Even though she had had the lantern from her homeworld back on Earth for several weeks now, Asclepius still did not have the foggiest idea how it worked. Part of the problem stemmed from the fact that her schedule at the hospital had been busy over the holidays, but even when she did have time to visit it on its peg in her hideout, the Senshi of Medicine was just kind of at a loss as to how to approach it. Even if the artifact did have some sort of instruction manual, it would have been written in the old Asclepian writing she had seen in Evagrius' letters and books which was, metaphorically, Greek to her.
Still, though, having nothing else in particular to do today, she figured she could head towards her hideout and try staring down the ornate pottery lantern again. Asclepius ran along the rooftops, taking a roundabout way towards the rented rooms in order to get a bit more city surveillance in.
Maybe the Negaverse would take some time off for the holidays or something, and give the city some peace.ChibiGingi (( SORRY PUN HAD TO BE MADE ))

"Please, it's for a good cause…"
When it came to hounding good folks for donations, Sailor Canopus was a professional. The holiday season was the perfect time to take advantage of people's generosity and Canopus was quick to take to the streets and do a little donation collecting of her own. While she wasn't the most pathetic looking person that would guarantee people throwing money at her nor was she dressed in the traditional red clothing of the Salvation Army, she was determined to get some kind of donation this evening.
No, she was in her Senshi attire, not at all festive nor preparing her for the cold air around her, but she took advantage of the walls of the building that blocked out the winds. Which was probably why the couple had given her such a strange look when she approached them, but she made sure to keep her distance. If they wanted to donate to the Dark Mirror Court's cause, then they'd have to be the ones to approach her. That's simply how these things worked.
"It's only a little energy, but it'll go a long way," Canopus said, staying firmly in her place and not wanting to put too much pressure on the two, though she could see the woman wanting to grab her boyfriend's hand and pull him away. Hoping that a magic trick would be enough to entertain them, she summoned her Mirror Wraith and held it close to her, speaking softly and not feeling the approaching Order aura at all. "Please, won't you help someone in need?"

Asclepius was out doing her typical senshi charity work, as well - patrolling the streets looking for signs of Chaos. Rooftops were the easiest way to get around quickly without being seen, but as an energy she was fairly sure was Dark Mirror came to Asclepius' attention, she hopped down to street level to see what was going on.
In spite of her limited experience with them, the Senshi of Medicine recognized the mirror wraith. They had to be like youma for the mirror senshi. Seeing as how the girl accompanying the creature was asking a passing couple for 'donations', Asclepius had a feeling where that interaction was headed, and knew she had to interfere. She just hoped the man and woman would not try to call the police on her or anything. At least the power she brought to any potential fight was not terribly likely to tear down any buildings - she hoped that would keep any altercations between herself and the Dark Mirror girl from being misconstrued as 'terrorism' of any sort.
"Hey, it looks like they're not interested, so why don't you just let them go about their evening," Asclepius suggested, heels clicking on the sidewalk as she approached.

Canopus was admittedly startled by the strange sensation she felt within her chest and she immediately saw the cause when the White Moon senshi descended from on high, and no amount of steeling herself could stop her from flinching as she landed. She wasn't a fool- she knew what Asclepius was. She was a White Moon Senshi, the enemy of her court, and though she was warned of them, this was the first time she had ever come across one in person. It was awe-inspiring to look at her beauty, but also heart wrenching to thing that this was her enemy.
The mirror senshi of Longevity stayed where she was, even when Asclepius addressed her and her Mirror Wraith. With the arrival of the other senshi, the couple seemed to have seen their chance to escape, and together, they fled hand-in-hand, brushing past both of them and trying so hard not to look at either of them. Canopus was finally broken from her momentary revelry when they ran past her, and she gave a soft sigh, keeping the Mirror Wraith in hand as she turned her full attention to the other senshi. Better to sacrifice the need for energy and let them escape from the enemy than to risk her bringing harm to them, Canopus thought, and though she trembled, there was a hint of anger in her soft voice. "I would have given them the chance to refuse. Not like you…"
With Mirror Wraith in hand, Canopus looked ready to fight and hoped that she appeared stronger on the outside than she felt. Inside, she was absolutely terrified. She knew this to be the enemy. She knew them to be dangerous. She tried to think of all the things that Remarque and every other member of her Court told her, and she tried to bring up Chariklo's advice. 'Stay calm… stay calm… don't let her see your fear.'
"You should leave now, or… else I'll have to hurt you."

She watched the couple flee from the corner of her eye, but refused to turn her attention away from the dark Mirror girl before her. Asclepius studied her, with one hand on her hip and the other clenched in a loose fist for now at her side. In her civilian life, she had seen people in all states of fear come through the emergency room, and she thought she could recognize it now in her opponent.
After remaining quiet for a stretch, the Senshi of Medicine put on a mirthless smile and shook her head, finally responding, "Leave you now, while you have your Wraith out and everything?" Asclepius would never be eager to fight, but who knew what this girl would do if the senshi just let her go about her Dark Mirror business? She could not permit it.
"I'm not going anywhere."

Her heart was beating rapidly inside of her chest and it was clear to see to anyone with a keen eye. Her entire chest was quaking with each heavy pound, or at least, that's what it felt like to Canopus. Outside of training, she never fought another before. She knew it would be inevitable as her enemies were the ones dominating in sheer numbers, but she had hoped to avoid the situation for just a little while longer. Or, in the very least, not have to take on her first threat all alone.
Unfortunately, there was no turning back for her now. If she called back the Mirror Wraith, then that meant that she was completely defenseless. Sure, she had her magic, but she had never used it before, and she wasn't sure what it'd do, if anything at all. Her sphere was Longevity and she had no idea what that could entail. Would it make them rapidly age? Would it freeze them in a state of suspended animation? Canopus wasn't sure, and she wasn't quite willing to find out just yet. Her Mirror Wraith was all she had.
"Well… that's too bad then," Canopus said softly, her sorrow sincere, and since Asclepius was not willing to leave, then what choice did Canopus have? She didn't want to fight. She was afraid, but perhaps she could distract her. She had never used a Mirror Wraith before, and what better way to test its prowess than against an enemy? With a weak shout, she gave the Mirror Wrath a push, sending it towards Asclepius' direction, uncertain as to what would happen but hoping for the best. "Ha!"

Asclepius had neither encountered nor fought a mirrorwraith before, but if the other senshi was sending it after her while standing back herself, that made the wraith the biggest threat for the moment. The Senshi of Medicine clenched her fist, taking up a ready stance, then threw her best punch at the creature--
--and staggered forward, a touch off-balance, as her fist failed to contact with anything.
"s**t."
Whirling back around, she hopped back to avoid remaining between the Dark Mirror girl and her wraith, and glanced between them, frowning as she pondered her next step.ChibiGingi (( Feel free to have the wraith drain some energy from her? =O ))

Canopus wasn't sure what to expect when she sent the Wraith forward, and it was very, very clear to anyone watching the encounter that this might have been the Mirror senshi's first real encounter. When the senshi seemed to miss or even pass through the Wraith, Canopus' dark violet eyes shot wide with amazement, and for a brief moment she seemed to forget that she was in a combative situation all together, as she had to stop herself from reaching forward and grabbing her before she fell.
The curse that escaped Asclepius' lips seemed to snap her back into reality, and she was surprised to see the Mirror Wraith attempt to swing back around. This time, it seemed thicker, more corporeal, if that made any sense, and while the Wraith charged at the senshi from behind, Canopus sucked in a deep breath and charged forward, hoping to push her enemy into the mirror somehow.
"I'm sorry," she said, keeping her arms set forward and trying so hard not to close her eyes at the thought that she'd have to hurt someone else. Maybe it wouldn't be painful for her? Maybe it'd be quick and merciless? Because though she was an enemy, she didn't seem so bad... "Take this!"

Asclepius took a measure of confidence in the Dark Mirror senshi's apparent surprise at her own abilities. At least they were both new to fighting each other, while she herself had some measure of experience at fighting in general on her side. Part of her considered the other girl lucky that she could be her first adversary, too - the Senshi of Medicine knew she went fairly easy on enemies, in that she would not fight longer than she strictly needed to.
For a moment, then, it felt like she was dragging her limbs through water rather than air, and Asclepius realized the wraith was trying to drain energy from her now. The unnatural allies of her enemies, on the other hand, would be spared no mercy.
"Are you really sorry?" she asked, fighting to keep her balance as the girl pushed her back through the mirror wraith. It felt thicker the second time she passed through it, and the White Moon senshi felt that much more tired. Was the energy it was stealing making it more solid? "If so, you shouldn't be playing with such a dangerous creature."
Asclepius hopped back a short distance to put space between herself and the wraith and its senshi, then cupped her hands together and called out her attack to summon a dish of medicine: "Eucrasia Restoration!" The clear, faintly fragrant elixir was enough to restore another senshi's attack power - the brown-haired girl hoped it would also be enough to render the wraith solid enough to hit.ChibiGingi (( Sorry this took 5ever orz ))

Admittedly, Canopus had never watched her Wraith at work, and she was surprised by what she saw. At first it looked as though it would only pass through her, and yet, she could tell that it was having some effect or another, as she could see the edges of the Wraith beginning to solidify. Was the process painful? Was this what she would be subjecting civilians to when they donated their energy? It was fascinating and terrifying all at once, but Canopus did her best to stand strong. This senshi had made her choice to stand and fight her, and she'd have to live with that decision. At least, Canopus hoped she would. She didn't want her death...
Asclepius' question didn't help with her growing conscious in the least, and it was this that kept Canopus from attacking the senshi herself, even when she had a clear opening. She was slow to anger, but when she did, she found herself too flustered, and she couldn't stop herself from stuttering as she addressed her enemy. "O...of course I am! It's not that I want to go out and hurt you... or anyone! It's only dangerous if you're my enemy..."
Maybe they were kinder on civilians? Admittedly, she didn't know, and before she could capitalize on Asclepius' immobility, she heard the senshi shout, and she watched in surprise as the attack went into the Mirror Wraith, the creature clearly absorbing the energy and coming completely solid. It was so fascinating, and Canopus was so intrigued that the Mirror senshi did not realize what danger her Wraith was in!

"Energy isn't yours to take from people. It's theft, plain and simple."
Fortunately, Asclepius' attack utilized some auxiliary energy reserves that were not necessary for running around or punching things; casting her magic left that spell used for the day, but she felt no more fatigued for having done so.
And, fortunately, it appeared that the wraith did indeed take in her medicine. It shimmered, becoming more solid-looking in the air.
"Full now?" she asked the creature, then lunged in, aiming a punch at it. With any luck, it would feel as real as it now looked, and the Senshi of Medicine would then be able to beat it down accordingly.

If there was more time to talk among themselves, Canopus was certain that she could have done a better job in explaining how wrong the White Moon senshi was. Others may have stolen energy, but she was willing to ask, and she would never force it if they said no. Had Asclepius not intervened or perhaps waited, she would have seen that she was willing to let them go had they said no. It made her angry that this senshi simply assumed she was going to take it, and though it was against her better nature, she hoped that the Mirror Wraith drained a little more energy than was necessary, if only for this one senshi.
What she wasn't expecting, though, was that her attack would fill the Wraith to the brim, and before she could retract the Wraith, to take what energy she did manage to collect, though indirectly, she watched in horror as Asclepius struck the Wraith. She watched in silent terror as the first struck the Wraith directly, and from that point of impact, she watched it shatter to pieces in front of her. With a single hit, she had managed to destroy the engorged Wraith, and Canopus was horrified that she felt nothing at all from it. At least, not physically.
And that terrified her. She sent out a creature, inhumane it may be, to its death, and there was no physical recoil or punishment for watching it die. Was there something wrong with her for not feeling anything, or was the Wraith simply not worthy of a physical attachment? If it was easy to watch a Wraith shatter away and die, then would it be easy for seeing others fall to its effects?
That was enough. Just like that, her nerve was gone, and Canopus did the only thing she could think to do. She ran. She didn't collect the pieces of the mirror, or say anything to the senshi. She ran as fast as her feet could take her, to the closest mirror she could find. She only hoped she'd be quick enough!
