Penthesilea rarely approached auras belonging to those of her court. She had only met one Senshi, and she had been totally unimpressed with him - she wasn't eager to repeat the disappointment now that she was one herself. And yet, when she picked up an aura stronger than hers, she decided it might be worth it to approach.
If this was as utterly awful as the last time, she'd just work alone on a permanent basis.
She wasn't exactly impressed when she saw the source of the power signature, even from the back - a fuku bedecked in flowers and long tumbles of blond hair didn't exactly inspire confidence. Alas.
"Having a good evening so far?" She asked, the New Orleans thick in her voice.

He wasn't sure why he kept going out with the dregs of injury clinging to his bones. It ate at his muscles, speed and strength, like acid. He was keen enough in awareness and experience, however, to keep track of what auras were near enough to be a problem or to be in striking distance of checking out. When he'd felt the scout aura closing in on his own, he'd stayed put and visible as a silhouette near a light source. He turned when the hail and sound of footsteps came from the expanse behind him. The extra grommeting and strapping on her uniform, combined with the long, free-range hair and completely unprotected legs, organs and upper chest was just another proof that the universe was laughing at all of them. "So far, " he nodded in acknowledgement to her. "Chaos has been quiet tonight, but vigilant still we few must stand. " "I'm Thraen. You are?"

Penthesilea was a bit more impressed when he turned around and she saw the scar marring his otherwise rather pretty-boy face. A slight hint of a smile crossed the redhead's lips and she put a hand on her hip.
"'Vigilant we few must stand?'" She imitated him a bit, though there was no mockery to her tone. "You sound like exactly the kinda person I've been wanting to meet." Someone who took this seriously, who treated it like an actual goddamn war instead of something to b***h and moan about.
"I'm Penthesilea. Senshi of War." She practically bubbled with pride for her sphere.

Given a larger sample he wondered roundabout where her accent hailed from- it was no native one to the part of the country they stood in. Destiny City was a large metropolis, so it wasn't surprising as much as a point of interest what could bring someone from far away to the city not only for life but presumably to end up as a pawn in their mutual situation. "I've seen your likeness at the Louvre." Though that statue had a decidedly more bare chest. The attitude of the stone to the flesh woman before him- confident and challenging, was the same. "Yours a welcome banner joined, if you stand by this mess being a war- not misunderstand nor charade of peace paid with innocence and ignorance nightly. " He shifted his weight, attention full on her. "Little my trust in our 'companions'- I'll ask directly. Would you kill an enemy guilty of murder and theft? "

Penthesilea had never been one for complicated speech or mannerisms, so while she would never admit it nor show it, Thraen flat-out confused her. It took her a little longer than she would've liked to follow the patterns of his speech. Still, his question was easy enough.
"I'd kill an enemy for being an enemy." She said, and there was no shame or guilt or hesitation. "Because that's what war is. Guilty or innocent, who gives a ******** - they're Chaos, Chaos is the enemy, you stomp out the enemy." Preferably as hard as possible, with solid metal heels.
"Enemy soldiers ain't always guilty of nothing but following the wrong person's orders - but they're still enemy soldiers and it's still my job to make there be less of 'em." Certainly she wasn't perfectly articulate, but she was pretty sure her point got across.

The pupils of his eyes shifted with interest in her words, alternating thoughtful and predatory. "We may have some differences of philosophy, but that is a better answer than expected from another in the 'white moon court'. " "We might be able to be allies, after all." First impressions were a doozy, and she wasn't what he would choose as the face of a court, but in the most ancient of senses of feudalism she could be a fit. A King was the warlord of a people long before the associations of governing was added to the base idea of protection and succor. "I've been searching for others who would be Malleus Chao- Hammer of Chaos, " the set of his shoulders to his hips relaxed to something less ramrod-formal. "Such things of any interest?"

Penthesilea grinned, her expression a little bit vicious. "Was that an invitation?" She asked. "Because if it was - an infitation to actually ******** fight instead of pussyfooting and bitching and moaning - then yes, I am very, very interested."
Her first impression of the Court had been awful. Laoise had redeemed her view somewhat by being perfect and no-nonsense and wonderful, but that had been a cat, not an actual Senshi.
"I do have one question for you. How do you feel about turncoats? The ones that decide to corrupt?" Was there any redeeming them? Perhaps Thraen would know if it was even possible, though forgiveness had never been in her nature.

"There is only one caveat as far as I can tell- it is possible to be corrupted unwillingly," Buddingtonite's boasts before putting fist into his chest could lead that way, if anything the coward said could be taken as reliable intel. "Mercy is a branch of wisdom, but one I extend once only. Our enemies are creatures with reason in their heads to recognize what they do and to have thought it over. One offer that they seek to repay their horror with honest effort- and if they refuse then they should be broken or executed. " "Those who betray order, however, of deliberate choice I would execute without offer, " Thraen's expression was grim as stone. There was no hesitation and no uncertainty behind the words.

Penthesilea nodded. The ones stolen from Order, they were pitiable, in a way, because their choice had been taken from them - and worth trying to take back if possible. Or if they would come, she supposed. Turncoats could be useful.
"The very first Senshi I ever met, not a few weeks before I Awakened myself, talked of nothing but turning. His decision was already made - to go to the Dakr Mirror Court, or whatever it was." She grit her teeth together. "I called him on his whining and he ran away like a p***y b***h. Kinda soured my impression, on the whole."
Thraen, though - Thraen was redeeming her views. "Is there anyone else who sees things our way?"

"Not. That. I. Know." It was terse, pulled word by word through teeth bared at the sky as he turned his face thither. "I have met...maybe 11? Some I did not have a chance to speak of war policies to. Others have deliberately stood in my way and took the side of our enemies- have demanded them be allowed to live, to heal and to steal or kill at their leisure." "Up until you, I was fairly certain I stood alone in this corpse of a court." He looked back down to her, "I take it you do not know any others, either?"

Penthesilea frowned. That was worse news. Were there really only two of them willing to do what clearly had to be done? No wonder Chaos ran around so freely. No wonder Avior hadn't feared for a moment to tell her he was turning traitor.
"No, I don't," she confessed. "Most of the people I run into are Chaos; I don't really chase down our Court. Nothing in it but wasted time, I thought, 'till I ran into you." She hated being disappointed.
"Most of 'em, it sounds like, are too busy being damn stupid heroes to realize that just because you wear white doesn't mean you can't get your dress dirty."

How fine we look when dressed with red. "Mercy alone has not won the day, nor has it treated the symptoms of the disease. Even if our methods cannot root out the heartwood, if we cut enough limbs the tree of this enemy will have no reach." "If we can find or convince others of new method- One is a flag thrown down, two a force, but three....and we might have the start of an army. " He pulled out his senshi phone, "Would you be willing to exchange scans? It would allow us to more easily contact and coordinate with each other. "

Penthesilea pulled out her phone, and was glad for their apparent hyperspace arsenal, because if she didn't have that there would be nowhere on her fuku to put the damn thing. She was proud of her lack of covering, proud that she had to fight with such a limitation, but it was a pain in the a** other ways.
"Of course. If nothing else, we can patrol together sometime." Walking with someone who wouldn't question her more physical approach to agents - who might even help her send one to the morgue - sounded quite delightful. "And I'll be sure to let you know if I meet anyone who thinks like us." It seemed more unlikely by the day, unfortunately.

The scanning was the work of a glad moment. It spread a half smile over his scarred mouth that turned from pleasantness to grim by default. "Patrolling with someone is a good idea. I should know." "I'm not much good with fisticuffs, obviously, but my magic has its use. Its a status attack. If you've got skill with combat, not just patrols but some lessons would be appreciated. Either way, together of martial skill and magic cast, we could hew foes down quickly. I would like to try it sometime, and soon. " "Call me at need- whatever reason troubles you, or we can work out whatever needs strike our fancy."

Penthesilea scanned him just as quickly, and then returned her phone to wherever it was they went when they weren't in use.
"I've been training in krav maga since I was a kid. The whole point is to take whatever advantage you can get. Take no prisoners. Go for the soft spots." Her grin was wicked and proud at the same time - she was deeply proud of her art. "I'd be happy to give you some basic lessons sometime, I do it for the kids at my school. My magic's more forceful, too, but it takes time to build up. Wars ain't short, and all."
Then, she flashed him a more proper, actually pleasant smile. "I look forward to the next time I see you, Thraen."
