With books, a new laptop, and a bunch of chores to do to finally get his room ready to be his new permanent living space, Nischal should have been plenty busy. Even with all those tasks, he found himself laying on his bed, on his stomach scrolling through his phone. Every thing on it was empty. He supposed that's what came with starting life anew, no friends or family to hang out with. But... There is that potential of making new ones.. And at the very top of his contact list was a new friend. Or the makings of one. After all, One meeting was never enough to determine friendship, but enough to kindle an interest. And an Interest he had. It wasn't that early to send a text, right? A few days later? Naw, there would be nothing wrong with it at all!

Nischal
"Hey Arian! Are you busy today? I mean, yeah, it's a bit last minute, but with all that snow we got last night, It looks like it'll be a pretty awesome day for snow-related things, oooh, and some playtime in the park! biggrin We could meet up for lunch or something too, if you'd prefer! OOh! Do you wanna build a snowman? I think that would be pretty awesome! But if you're busy, I understand, we could try again later this week."

After a few moments.. He couldn't help but send another text message, smiling as he did so. Maybe it could be a way to give more of reason for Arian to say yes.. Plus, he DID mean it!

Nischal
I really am looking forward to seeing you again.

Surprisingly enough, a reply was received quite quickly, and just as quickly, he replied back!

Arian
Hi Nischal, sorry I'm running errands all morning but we could still meet up after that if you don't mind waiting until afternoon - I'll be free around 12/ 12:30ish. Let me if that's works for you - Arian

Nischal
Okay, that's perfect! How about we meet up in the center of the park when you're ready? I'll be in the area around that time, and we could go on from there.

Arian
How about we meet around 12:30ish then? If that works then I'll see you in the park centre about then. Arian

Nischal
Awesome! See you then!!

Everything went far smoother than he had expected, though he wasn't quite sure why he had imagined it to go anything less than that. In an instant, he was up, fussing about his room, trying to get atleast a little bit finished. After all, who wants to keep cleaning after you come back from a day out?

Noon-thirty came by before he even realized it, and now he sat on a bench in the park. The snow was still coming down in a slow and steady pace, covering the coat he wore in pretty little crystals. He tried so hard to get a good look at them, attempting to find the differences between each one as he waited in the cold. He was in no rush, not at all, for all good things came to those who wait, right?

With baking ingredients to shop for and Christmas decorations to help his cousin put up, Arian's morning had passed in a flurry of activity and it was with a startled blink when he realised that the time was edging on ten past twelve and remembered that he'd agreed to meet Nischal over at the park by about half past.

Despite generally preferring to walk, there was no way that even at a brisk walk that he'd be able to cover the distance in time, however luck was with him and he was able to catch up on some of the missed time by hopping a bus taking him part of the way - even so it was close to twenty to by the time that managed to reach the park centre where they'd agreed to meet.

Catching sight of Nischal sitting on a park bench, Arian made his way over "Hi Nischal," he called when he was close enough for the other to hear. "I'm sorry for running late" even though he'd texted the other from the bus, he figured he should repeat the apology. "I hope I didn't make you wait too long." It was a cold day, cold enough that Arian had dressed prepared for the weather - bundling up in a woollen coat, scarf, mitten type gloves and a knitted hat in the shape of a pumpkin that sat on top of his raven-black hair to round out the outfit.

"Running late?" Nischal had neglected to check his phone, even when it vibrated in his pocket, so he had not recieved the message that Arian had sent. At the same time, being as distracted as he was with the little snowflakes on his mittens, he had also neglected to check the time, so whether or not Arian was late, he couldn't say. But he was glad that he was around now.

"I don't think I even.. Well, I wasn't here for too long, and If I was, I don't think I noticed too well. I was looking at the snowflakes on these." He held up his hands, showing how it had been covered in little flakes. "My eyes are terrible, so I can't really tell if they are all different or not. It's still pretty cool to think about though. Nature is fascinating."

Standing up and brushing his hands on the bottom of this coat, Nischal smiled, giving Arian a little once over, before patting himself clean completely of the snow that had started to pile up on him. The cold never really bothered him, so perhaps that's the reason why he was able to sit there so long without even noticing.

"It's just a little cold out, but the snow is awesome, if you ask me! I remember growing up in India, where we were, there was never any snow.." Although his memories were vague, he could honestly not even remember feeling cold until he was taken from there. But no matter!

"So.. I was thinking that we could go get lunch or something, I didn't exactly plan everything out. I kinda.. Well, I just wanted to see you again."

Arian nodded "Yes the morning turned out to be busier than I'd expected," he admitted quietly. "But I'm glad that you didn't end up having to wait on me too long."

He glanced down automatically at Nischal's gloved hands as the other held them up adding "I'm not even going to try and tell the flakes apart - I'm pretty sure even with good vision you'd need to look at them under a microscope or something to see any patterns" and Arian's vision wasn't the greatest, the glasses worn out of necessity - well and because he preferred glasses over contacts.

His voice turned amused as he continued whilst he waited for Nischal to brush off the bits of snow from hit coat "It snows a lot more here than it ever did back in England though" after all in his two and half (give or take) years in Destiny City White Christmases had become an actuality rather than a very, very maybe. "Things actually run here." Unlike in the UK where even the tiniest amount of snow was enough to ground planes and grind public transport to virtually a halt.

He smiled slightly as he added "And lunch would be nice and mayhaps even a hot drink" after all snow might be nice to look at, but it was also cold - which incidentally made it great hot chocolate drinking weather - at least to Arian's way of thinking. "Thank you for thinking to invite me. Did you have a place in mind for lunch?"

"You're going to have to tell me more about England, and about how different it is here." Nishal moved to stand a bit closer to Arian, wondering if from here he could feel the other's warmth.

"Yeah, I do, there's this really peculiar mom and pop style burger place on the other side of the park. They have the best shakes I've ever tasted. It's kinda.. It's a weird place, but it's pretty awesome, if you'd like to check it out. I mean, if not, there's another little crepe place near there too." He wasn't very picky about where they ate, but the burger joint was a bit more familiar to him.

"What are you craving?"

"It's probably a little too cold for milk shakes" Arian said with a slight smile as he thought it over, the weather being more in in keeping to his way of thinking with hot chocolate rather than milk shakes - especially if said hot chocolate came with whipped cream and little marshmallows.

"I'm feeling pretty hungry though so wouldn't mind checking out the burger joint anyway." His cheeks reddened slightly as his stomach chose that moment to remind him that apart from a couple of Saffy's cookies that he'd swiped from the oven that he hadn't had the time to sit down and do breakfast.

"A little too cold? No, no, never too cold! It's like saying summer time is too hot for hot food! If you love something alot, why would you restrict your enjoyment of it just for the sake of seasonal weather? Unless it's something like Christmas eggnog or something, that's a special case. " Nischal did notice the red dusting Arian's cheeks, though he wasn't sure if it came form the cold or something else. After all, it seemed pretty common to have people turn red when they were outside for too long. It was still rather sweet to see, and if it were any hint by the growling of the other's belly, then he could maybe safely assume it was due to something other than the cold.

"Hehe.. Ah well, I can have a shake, and you can have something warm. I'm sure that they have something to warm the bones! I think you're stomach would like that quite a bit! Do you not eat enough earlier in the day? " With abit of a smile thrown at Arian, he began to head in the direction of where the eatery was.

"So what did you do today, if you don't mind me asking?"

"I'm not sure I'd say I love milk shakes a lot" Arian said, a slightly bemused note in his voice. "I don't really have them that often" and the weather tended to be warmer - much, much warmer when he did.

His voice turned embarrassed as he continued "And I had a couple of biscuits earlier" although he couldn't quite remember how much earlier - some time in the morning earlier. "I think it may have been a while back though" he admitted, before adding "I was helping my cousin do stuff around the apartment and then I had to go out and buy ingredients for next week's bake sale and I kind of lost track of the time a little." Okay so maybe it was more than a little, but Arian wasn't counting.

"Well then, I love them alot! To each own, right?" Nischal spun around on his heel, still leading them along, but walking backwards to watch Arian. "You can love whatever you like, it's all good, I think."

"Biscuits.. Like dessert biscuits, right? Cookies? That doesn't sound good at all.. Unless couple is more than a couple, like.. Having a couple means that you had a dozen or so. But that's still not entirely good for you, you need meet and veggies and all sorts of other things!" Though his back was turned, Nischal knew that they were close to the peculiar little burger joint from the other night. The delicious smell of burgers wafting off of a grill filled the area, and he could barely contain his own stomach from anxiously growling.

"A bake sale, huh?" As the approached the place, he rushed a head to get the door open for his friend as quickly as he could. "A bake sale for what? School? Organization? Club?"

"Um yes" Arian agreed as he fell into step, just a little behind Nischal. "They were biscuits of the cookie-variety - my cousin made a batch of them up this morning." It wasn't uncommon for there to be some sort of sweet treat around in the apartment given that not only did he and Saffy bake but they both had sweet teeth as well.

His cheeks flushed again "And I don't just eat sweets, I eat other things too." He even ate some of the stranger stuff that his cousin came up when she was in an experimenting mood, although sometimes they could be pretty miss. "I was just a bit busy this morning" there was a wry note in his quiet voice at his admission, Arian tucking his gloved hands into the pockets of his coat as he spoke in an attempt to scrounge a bit of extra warmth.

It didn't seem long before they were both approaching the place that Nischal had suggested, the smell of burgers wafting in their direction as Arian ambled after the other, his pace a comfortable one. "Just a charity bake sale" he said as they approached what appeared to be the door into the place. "My cousin and I" well okay often it was mostly him with Saffy donating baked stuff for him to take. "Do approximately one once a month."

"Maybe you two should think about.. I dunno, pre-making breakfast? Or maybe having some cereal available. Not to lecture you, though. I'm certain you know how to take care of yourself." Not that he knew how to take care of himself perfectly. It wasn't going too badly though. Sure, laundry was a bit peculiar, but he wasn't too silly not to read directions. And Bjorn was the best in helping him figure out these day to day tasks. Yet it was common knowledge that breakfast was the most important meal of the day, right?

"Charity work? Hehe.. I was always part of the group that received the charity when I was a little kid. Our area never had enough food, but plenty of water, and a simple, pleasant life though." Which wasn't ENTIRELY a lie. He was perhaps.. Five when he was taken from India, so that worked well, right?

"So I take it you live with your cousin? I'm not sure if You've told me that before." Door Open, and they were both inside and sat down, handed menus in what seemed like such a fluid moment that he had not even noticed it happened. And as they sit, He finally took a moment to let the nervousness that had initially filled him upon meeting with Arian again. Why was he nervous? That was unclear, maybe fear of a rejected meeting? Yet now it was obvious that that was not going to happen, and all was at ease now.

"I'm not usually that bad about breakfast" Arian said, part of him wondering as he spoke if Nischal was one of those people who got a bee in their bonnet about breakfast being super important. He really wasn't that bad though - well rather he didn't consider himself that bad, sure there were days when he ended up skipping a proper meal in favour of snagging a quick sweet (generally on days when he was busy with some sort of project but there were equally days when he ate properly.

He nodded at Nischal's query about charity work, "Well I don't actually work for any charities" he admitted. "And neither does my cousin, but some of the local ones - like the animal rescue home hold bake sales and when they do we bake stuff for them." He nodded again as Nischal asked him about living with his cousin, adding simply "Yes I do."

They had reached the door of the burger place at that point and Arian was glad to get out of the cold, hand automatically going to hold the door for Nischal in turn.

Once they were both eventually seated, menu in front of them Arian looked over at Nischal "Is there anything you'd recommend food-wise?" He asked, adding "And do you know if they do it without mayo?" The other teen had been here and he hadn't so Arian was happy to listen to his suggestions and simultaneously hoping that if the burgers came with mayo that there would be an option to have it without given that mayonnaise was one of the few foods he disliked with a passion the white stuff in his mind right up there with canned tuna on his list of disliked foods.

Simply smiling at the response for breakfast, Nischal went ahead and let it go, opting instead to just listen to him speak. There was something about his voice that caused Nischal to just imagine listening to him tell stories all day, which he honestly wouldn't have minded at all! In his little daydreaming, he almost missed the question offered to him, and it took a moment to register it, before making a little 'oh!' expression and looking back down at the menu.

"Well, the last time I was here, I had a bacon burger with a banana shake the last time I was here.. That was awesome, but I think I might try something else. Maybe the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries.. And I don't think there's any reason why they couldn't take the Mayo off. The cook was really nice, even when it was almost to midnight the last time I came here."

"A burger with bacon sounds good as long as its without mayo" Arian said, after all he liked burgers and he liked bacon and as long as the mayonnaise was left off then it sounded like a good combination.

He thought about it for a moment before adding decisively "So I think I'll go for that, with good old fashioned fries, although the sweet potato ones sound interesting" Despite the fact that he'd been in Destiny City, in the States for over one and a half years, Arian still found himself personally thinking of fries as being chips as they were called back in England, although he knew that chips tended to be seen more as potato chips.

He scanned the menu before continuing "With mayhaps a diet coke for the drink" before adding thoughtfully. "And staying open close to midnight sounds pretty late." Or at least it seemed late by his book, but then again mayhaps the people in the shop catered mostly to people who worked late such as those at the hospital or something.

With a simple nod, Nischal remained quiet for a time, waiting for the waistress to swing by and gather their orders together. It wasn't the same one as last time, and thank goodness too, because he was just sure that the old lady would have bugged him about bringing two different lovely people to the restaurant. As entertaining as that might be on a different day, right now Nischal wasn't sure if he could have handled much teasing on that front.

The feeling of being alone hadn't quite shaken off yet, and though Arian was right here with him, sitting across from him and smiling, there was still the thought of being boring, being unappealing to someone dancing across the back of his mind. Hopefully it didn't' show too much; the last thing he wanted was to have Arian see him as just some kid who thought lunch would have been a great idea because, hey, free food. Still, what else could he say right now? The quiet between them was becoming too long, and too awkward, and though he didn't want to take his eyes off of Arian, staring at him for too much would just create problems, wouldn't it? What if the older boy started finding him annoying? Or even creepy? His eyes darted away from the one across from him, gazing out of the window to the people who walked by on this not-so-busy day, scrambling inside of his mind for something to say, and he ended up blurting out his thoughts.

"So, um, How's school? I mean I'm sure you're vacation's not over yet, but you know, how is it uh.. In general? I mean it's not like I know what colllege is like just yet, I'm still in highschool and I have a few more years, but you know, classes and stuff! Is it harder? Maybe? Uh.. Unless you're going for an easy major like, I dunno, Fine Arts. NOT that there's anything wrong with fine arts, it's just that I think.. Well, no anything I say now is just going to sound more and more like I'm talking down about the whole things and I'm sure the students who have that as a major work their butts off! I didn't mean to be a jerk, I just.. Geesh, I'm rambling again aren't I...?"
