Ok Guys and Gals I know it is 2 months away but I want to start planning
we all seemed to love the Idea of a Shakespearean theme for this
My main thing is do we want to go modern like DiCaprio?
or do you want to do Victorian?
I also need to know what we can do before the event to help raise funds.
for the event what kind of contests would you like to see?

ugh, shakespeare. stare he's so hit-and-miss.
"out of this nettle, danger, we pluck this flower, safety..."
the man butchers english language. but if we must do shakespearean, I would gladly aid in written form. I vote Classical Victorian.
would a slight delve forward into Edwardian style clash too much?

I was wondering? Do we really only have two options for modern or Victorian? Why not add like fantasy to it? Or we can even go medieval.
For making a fund raising we can organize lottos to make some gold. Maybe ask for donations by fishing. sweatdrop

For contests we could have a tektek contest. Modern Shakespeare will have a modern feel to the avatars whereas Classic will stick to as close as we can get gaia wise to Shakespearean era clothing.
Or on that theme instead of a tektek contest we can have a dress up contest. Whomever can dress up in whatever theme is chosen the most days (which I suggest only running the contest for at least a week) wins. The user/gaian must keep on that attire for an entire day Gaia Standard Time. The user/gaian must not wear the same outfit all the days but can wear items for more than one day. For example: One day I wear golden bangles along with a dress. The next day I wear a top and a skirt but I still wear the golden bangles, the outfit still counts. Another example can be I wear Winter Bride gown one day and the next I wear a coat over it. Still semi-counts but is a little pushing it, can get a vote on whether the latter would work or not.

The tektek or the dress up? The dress up plan is a plan I did in 2011 for another guild though I've seen other threads, charities to be precise, do dress up themes and it seems to be a hit. Tekteks are always a given hit cuz they're easy to do and you aren't required to own the items.

I think I have several outfits for Victorian-era dress-up, though it may be leaning towards late-Victorian/Edwardian styles. I would love to get to switch between them realistically from day to day. =w=

If we do have a dress up contest we don't have to just have Classic or Modern. We could have one day Victorian, next day Modern, Edwardian style, etc
If this contest idea is approved a couple of judges who'd have an idea of what would be acceptable and what would be no go should oversee it. Though we have the wonderful world of google it would be good to have 2-3 people judging as one person might be more precise whereas another might be a little more 'it mostly fits Victorian era clothing.'
These two-three judges will not be participants but I'm thinking they should dress up, at least do their best to dress up as in the themes. That way they show to other users it can be done.
So what do you say Jak and other members of the guild? Dress up contest as one of the contests for the event thread? I'll gladly volunteer to oversee it and play judge.
