Ruelash had it all set up again: the dummy, the stick, the treats... everything they would need for their training session was now out in the especially cold morning air.
He walked into Direk's pen and could see, from the evil glint in her eyes, that she was ready for training. He grinned the wild, reckless grin he was known for and licked his chapped lips.
"Awright, Direk. Ya ready?" he asked, rapping the stick against his palm, "Right, girl, attack!" he said, brandishing the stick threateningly. He hoped to provoke her forward.
Direk gave him a long, withering look before going back to munch on her fodder. If he was being stupid again, that was his business.
"Oh come on." Ruelash growled, putting his hands on his hips and stomping at the ground. She had to attack the stupid thing at some point. He huffing angrily at a stray strand of hair that had escaped his polytail and lay right in the way of his eyes, "Attack already!" he said in his most commanding voice.
Direk gave him an incredulous look. No. She would not do the thing she was trained to do. She didn't feel like it. It was too cold to do anything and it was nice and warm in this corner of her pen with the fodder. Plus, it had fodder. Did he really expect her to leave her comfortable corner for his stupid games?
"Allright, lets give ya some encouragement." he said, holding out a treat and waving it's baked, hard, green rectangular shape in the air, "C'mon, you want the treat?" he said, smirking and dangling the specially made fruit-nut-and-grain nugget in the air, "You want it?"
Well. Now Direk's interest was piqued. She moved closer, sniffing suspiciously. What was he playing at?
Ruelash pocketed the treat. "Nuh, uh. This s***'s expensive! I gotta special order it from Jahuar. For ya. No, ya gotta earn it."
Direk glared at him. Fine. What did he want.
"Now. Attack." he said, smacking the dummy hard with the stick, making it rattle and rustle in the wind. He was sure this trick would work. She wasn't smarter than a raptrix, but he knew she'd get the message, "Ya attack the dummy, ya get a treat."
Direk chuffed, scraping a hoof on the crusted frosty ground. Oh, she got the message, all right. She charged forward, wild and ferocious.
At him.
Ruelash was caught off guard as she slammed her hard head into him with all the irate might she could muster. He fell onto the ground, bouncing once, his breath knocked out of him. He watched, stunned for a moment, as his pet began to approach...
