Name: Brady Courser (Father's surname was Kent)
Gender: Male
Age: 35
Guardian: Zephyr

Appearance: He might be wretchedly handsome under the grimy, unshaven face and tangled hair. Maybe he has a smoky, purring voice if he ever spoke more than two words in a sentence. His touch could be gentle were it not for the rough calluses.

All in all, Brady could turn out nice if he chose to, but he just doesn't. Practicality drives him to care less for his physical appearance and more for his job. He is often found in riding gear with more than one weapon on him, mud on his boots, and the smells of woodsmoke, saddle leather and horse, and the outdoors cling to him. Standing six foot two with non-descript brown hair, grey eyes, and an angular face, he is a very intimidating figure, strong and imposing.

Personality: Gruff is a prime way of describing him. Brady lacks the social graces, nor does he care for them. He much prefers getting to the point, not wasting words, and using the tools that do the job without flare or needless decoration. In fact, he gets irritated by people who waste money on appearances. In order to not embarrass himself or his employer, he tends to stay away from rich folk with affectations.

Brady actually tends to avoid most folk, keeping to himself and giving up little personal information even to those closest to him. He takes his job as a border and wilderness guard very seriously, and lets little distract him.

History: When Brady was young, his father was arrested several times for poaching, and eventually was hung to be made into an example of. His widow mother went back to using her maiden name to distance the family from the shame, which was easier to accomplish living far away from neighbors and being as poor as a family of fourteen with little means can be.

As the years passed, and his older siblings moved for work or married off, Brady showed the same aptitude for hunting his father had, and actually seemed to be even better at it. He also was naturally talented at the sword, axe, and knives. When he was fourteen he apprenticed with a master at arms to learn more. And once he started getting job offers for his talent, he went to work with the highest bidder he could stand.

For while he despises rich people, he feels it is a necessary evil to work for them so that he can send money back to his family. His mother and three of his siblings were crippled when an illness swamped the house a few years before his apprenticeship, and they rely on him for their livelihood.

Now he rides his master's borders, protecting it from the very type of people that his father was, keeping the poaching to a minimum and making sure that what percentage would naturally get past him anyway is those who really need it.

About Zephyr: Brady feels a little awkward having this dark shadow beside him, having hunted deer the majority of his life. Zephyr is very blase about things, and is of the opinion that Brady needs to loosen up and expand his horizons. He has a dry wit and careful aim with his humor, designed to hit Brady just right. They get along as well as Brady is capable of getting along with anyone, and Zephyr is actually his closest friend.
