That was it. He had obsessed enough. He was going to go to the lake, spend a few days there, and kill that chi-forsaken nehredile trickster. He would settle things with Khashib once and for all. He prepared for this be-all end-all trip for a whole week, stocking up supplies and modifying his boots so that they would be quiet, yet still give him traction. He bought a waterproofed white blanket and a harpoon, grudgingly spending hard earned money on items. That was how obsessed he was, how much the trickster Nehredile weighted on his mind. He wanted to kill it so heartily that he would pay any price to take it down. He set up camp in his usual cave. Normally, this was a short-term shelter, so he had to modify it for a more intensive stay. He wasn't sure how long he would actually spend in it, as opposed to out there in the wilds, hunting the creature. He spent the next day virtually frothing at the mouth as he gathered up wood and other essentials from the icy forest outside. He didn't want to bother with all these things - he just wanted to get to the killing - but even he knew when things needed to be done first.

The next day, though, he was able to go out onto the ice and stalk up to the great holes in the ice. To his surprise and - it seemd - great luck, there were Nehredile out already and - he thought- he could see the distinctive markings of HIS nehredile. He threw the harpoon at the group with a wicked grin, which turned into a scowl of rage and frustration as the tip clanked against the ice. Spooked, the Nehredi swarmed back into the hole, slipping their pudgy bodies through lithely. They were long gone by the time he got close enough.

Grumbling, he picked up his harpoon and searched for a place to hide.
