It had been a few weeks since her gardening marathon where she straightened out all of the rubbish that was left over from the fire, and after a good break she was ready to get back to work. She still had a lot to get done and most of her work was still to come. About half of her garden was totally burned up in the flames, and the other half needed serious tending to. It would take a lot of magic to say the least and hopefully she could manage to get her plants back to full health.

Today she had to decide what it was that she wanted to do. Did she want to start with healing and nurturing plants, or was she going to start planting new ones? She looked down the garden at the plant that Jerarda had brought her. Jerarda had come to visit near the beginning of her dilemma. Back when she didn’t even have a steady plan with how to deal with what had happened. Back when she was still fairly emotional, though she hated to admit it outright. She could have been a little more personable, that she knew for a fact. Her shoulders slumped with the idea and she had to shake her head to get the fog out of her head left over from the earlier weeks.

Well, that was then. Now she had a plan, now she knew how she was going to do it, and rebuild what had taken her years to get started and situated.

She squared her shoulders and took a deep breath in. The air smelled like it was a good planting day. She had already cleared all of the dead out, and she had started to plant some of the smaller plants, but there was still so much to be done. She frowned at the empty space overhead where she had had to take all of her vines down, most of which were burned to a crisp and the others were beyond saving. That was a project all in itself and was to be saved for a different time.

Her thoughts returned to the plant that Jerarda had brought. It was large. And it was peculiar. Aminah, though she had some in her garden, wasn’t too versed with Jauhar plants yet and didn’t take anything she didn’t know too much about. This was a plant that she still knew almost nothing about besides that it wasn’t poisonous. And she only knew that because Jerarda wouldn’t have brought her anything dangerous, at least she thought not.

She walked up to the plant and looked it over. It was strange, but it was beautiful, symmetrical, bushy, a bright color compared to most Jauhar plants, and would make a very nice focal point for the garden. That was the only bright thing about this fiasco really; Aminah could redesign and redecorate as she saw fit. Maybe she could add in a section of the garden to just relax in.

The plants would still be useful of course, but maybe she could have someone build a bench to sit, and it could have a walkway, it could be pretty. The people of Year could have picnics, the children could play, it could be a bright ending for an abysmal night, that was for sure. It could work. She smiled to herself at the thought.

She began to work on the plant, prepping it to fit it into the ground, already coaxing spells into it to make it take root and grow. If she could help it, it wouldn’t have a down swing like most plants did where they looked worse for the wear when they’re still rooting themselves. She would hate for this one to feel any harm, knowing it came from Jerarda. She felt a small blush right to her cheeks and couldn’t help feeling slightly alarmed that her face would do that.

Her hands reached a spot towards the trunk and she felt something there that didn’t belong. What was that? She pushed a little harder and it moved, squeaking before pulling itself out of the tree. It was a kipepwa. Not just any kipepwa: the kipepwa. The kipepwa that was in a different plant all those weeks ago. It seemed to have made its home in Tale, which was odd enough. Its eyes swiveled before turning back toward the tree and squeaking again. Two more smaller kipepwa flew out of the tree before spiraling around Aminah’s head. Without thinking, Aminah shooed the animals and brushed them away, scaring them enough to fly back into the tree. Well, at least she knew her kipepwa wasn’t dead. And it had friends. How cute.
