Aminah stretched her bones, grabbing her ankles and pulling herself lower, trying to get rid of the feeling that her back was caving in under its own weight. It was a long day yesterday, and Aminah needed a break from tending to her garden. A lot of the work that needed to get done she had accomplished over the past month, but now it was time to take a breather and get back to living. Her plants, as much as she hated to admit it, could wait.
She started at a slow walk, taking her lazy course through the Tale trees, before eventually coming into a jog. The wind felt good in the hot dry heat, and her muscles felt even better, nearly screaming in relief, as she wound her way through the trees. Most of her body had been bent over the land for the past month and she was aching to get moving again. She couldn’t help but pout a little at the idea that all of this work threatened to make her love of gardening diminish ever so slightly. She was out in the wild at this point, but she could tell she was reaching the end of the forest. The trees were starting to stretch and pull apart, and the ground became softer and softer as she started to hit the plains. Even though it wasn’t very habitable, it was still a nice scene to take in. Aminah stopped her run to catch her breath and take in the view in the early morning sun.

Her appreciation for the land was interrupted abruptly it would seem, as she came across a rather unexpected sight. There was a slight rumbling in the bushes before a little baby Gani popped its way out and into the open, seeming to be staring Aminah down with what would look like intimidation in its eyes. Was it looking for a fight? Aminah laughed out to herself at the thought. He little Gani jumped forward, charging slightly before backing away, unsure of whether it could win. Aminah took a step forward, closing the space and making the little guy jump back ever so slightly.
It charged forward again, this time coming up to Aminah’s legs before attempting to back up, but Aminah was too fast for it. In one move she scooped him up and ruffled his fur, giving him a good rub. The Gani didn’t quite know what to do with itself, so it did what any confused baby would do: it cried out for its mother.
The mother Gani charged into the scene, ready to protect its young and had Aminah jumping back. Well, they were larger than she remembered. Aminah lowered the young Gani to the floor before backing away slowly. She knew she could probably win in a fight with a Gani, but that would be no way to leave the baby. It wasn’t worth that. Aminah put her hands in front of her, as a sign of peace almost, before scooting backward and turning to jog back into the forest. Hopefully the mother would know how to pick it’s battles and leave Aminah alone.
